My dear Friends,
I am feeling particularly grateful for the
wonderful experiences we have shared
throughout 2017. I know there is a month to
go yet, but I could not help myself from
reflecting over the year and thus
deepening my sense of gratitude.
I think a major source of this feeling of
gratitude is the wonderful experience we
just enjoyed while celebrating the 60th
birthday of our Center on November 17.
What a milestone! The celebration
featured an Open House with appetizers
and birthday cake. Vicki Tournay, Ligaya
Storey, and Madeline Osborne prepared
our Center and arranged for all the
delectable food items that populated two
tables in our Fireside Room.
Brian Putnam and Rev Don Kerr worked for
several months writing and editing the
script for our Radio Readers Theater. They
also rehearsed the script twice with readers
from our congregation and with musicians
Christine Elder and Randy Byrnes. There
were many laughs and bits of history of
Woodland Chapel embedded in the script,
and it was a fun and entertaining way to
celebrate. One central truth stood out.
Spirit has guided our Center through all
these years.
Our guests made outstanding
appearances. Rev Larry King led us in a
vision of what our Center is and is
becoming, the expression of Spirit. Rev Dr
David Alexander described the
abundance prosperity that Spirit manifests
in our world and in our Center. I addressed
the changes that we have experienced in
our Center over the years. With the theme
“Change is our Chance to Advance”, Rev
Dr Kenn Gordon spoke to the awakening of
our world to its divine origins and purpose
through our efforts here at Woodland
Chapel and in the Centers worldwide. He
said, “the message is the same, but the
application is changing.” We must align
our opinions to our values, not our values to
our opinions.
The hospitality time before and after the
program provided the opportunity to visit
with friends, visitors, and our guest speakers.
More than 50 people attended.
Of course, my gratitude extends to the
entire year. We contracted to have the
exterior of our Center painted. It is now
fresh and renewed with delightful colors.
Over a dozen volunteers from our Center
painted the two restrooms downstairs and
the hall ways. Madeline Osborne led this
team, aided by the committee work of
Candy Willimann and Donna Stephens,
who helped our congregation select the
colors. Kathy Prather took on adding new
carpet to two rooms downstairs, and she
and others have spent time cleaning our
building.

Joyful News
2 December
Our grounds look magnificent. Thanks to the planning
and work of Pete Dane and Kathy Prather, RScP, they
have never looked better. Pete recently resigned from
these responsibilities, so Spirit will provide another or others
to continue this fine work. We are grateful that Brant
Heavener continues to do our exterior maintenance.
Several of our members attend River Sangha , which
meets on Wednesdays here at Woodland Chapel. This
has helped bring our two communities closer. What a
blessing for us all! Our friends in the River Sangha stepped
in to provide over $3,000 toward our painting project.
Brother Jerry Braza has spoken at our Center, and Sister
Nadene LaCheminant spoke a wonderful blessing at our
60th birthday celebration. We are grateful for this ongoing
relationship.
We have enjoyed a rich variety of speakers this year,
focused on topics provided by the grass roots efforts led
by Rev Dr Edward Viljoen. Themes ranged from Spiritual
Living, Diversity and Inclusivity, and Creativity to Integrity.
Spirit has blessed our Center with prosperity through the
steady support of our members and friends. Our finances
have been strong and steady. We raised more than
$6.000 toward our building fund and used the funds to
stabilize the structure of our Center. Our financial position
remains strong.
Our Ministry Team, our Board and our Department Heads
have been actively involved throughout the entire year.
We owe a great deal of thanks to them:
Ministry Team: Rev Don Kerr, Rev Julie Applegate, Kathy
Prather, RScp, Ruth TenEyck, LSP, and myself.
Board of Trustees: Candy Willimann, Ruth TenEyck,
Donna Stephens, Brian Putnam, Vicki Tournay, and
Madeline Osborn.
Additional Department Heads: Cathy Daniels and
Carolyn Uplegger,
With deep gratitude in our hearts we can celebrate the
incarnation of Spirit in our lives throughout the year,
especially in December. We know that we prosper now
and always.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Rev Maur

The Alchemist Dream
Discovering totally Non-Polluting Free Energy has researchers looking into that
supposed vacuum that is present between physical objects small and astro-
nomical.
The first researcher to step up to the plate was Nikoli Tesla. A little history here.
Tesla was the first university trained electrical engineer. His dream was to work
with Thomas Edison, which he did, but a year later after rebuilding Edison’s gen-
erators around New York and not getting paid for it, Tesla stomped out of Edi-
son’s office and a life-long feud started between them. Tesla went on his own
and started building a tower with a 187 foot mast (in Colorado) to capture and
harness free energy. He attracted investors like JP Morgan and John A Astor.
When they figured out free energy could ruin the oil business, funding mysteri-
ously disappeared.
From his research Tesla patented a high voltage generator called a
Tesla coil and a charged capacitor approach to receiving voltage
from a wire attached to ground through a capacitor. (For $49 you
can buy and build a Tesla generator kit.) This all happened around
the turn of the century. And 73 years ago the FBI took 2 truck loads of files from
Tesla. The “freedom of information act “ made some public and we find out
Tesla was working on a Death Ray. Also some one started a Crowd Funding to
build a new tower. From all this, a Cult following of amateur scientists are trying
to rediscover that Nikola knew. Tesla believed the source of his radiant energy
was Cosmic Rays. And Tesa’s intent was to condense the energy between the
earth and the upper atmosphere with a potential voltage difference of 360,000
volts.
A more modern approach tries to get “zero point energy” by tapping into
what is known as an energy sink. Such a sink has to be at a lower energy state
than the surrounding medium and for the energy to continually flow into it the
energy must be continually pumped out of it. Additionally, there must be a coil
in our system that is sent into oscillation at its resonant frequency by an external
power source. There, folks, is enough information to get you started. Give me
a progress report.
An afterthought: note that we “New Thoughters” are considered Metaphysi-
cians and proudly so. The researchers of Quantum Physics and Zero Point Ener-
gy tuck right smartly into the Merriam Webster definition of metaphysics: a divi-
sion of Philosophy that is concerned with the fundamental nature of reality and
being, including ontology, cosmology and epistemology.

Sacred Giving
We believe that abundance flows in all directions when
we give. It not only blesses and prospers where our
money goes, but abundance comes back to us.
“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure,
pressed down, and shaken together, and running
over…“ (Luke 6:38)
Thus we practice tithing to our spiritual home. Giving can
also be part be of our overall financial plan. A bequest in
a will or trust can be a powerful way to extend your love
for generations to come through our community.

Science of Mind Treatment
When I first began my prayer treatment work, I needed to be continually reminded that I don’t make
anything happen. I often tried very hard to move the whole universe toward the good I was claiming.
That was a lot of work and not effective. When we say we are knowing the truth, we mean just that.
We know and affirm the truth that “There is a Power for Good in the universe and we can use
it.” (Ernest Holmes). We don’t need to force anything, we know that right where the issue is God is,
Good is. - Rev Julie Applegate
I cleanse the windows of my mind, that it may become a mirror reflecting
inspiration from the most high. I do this, not with strenuous effort, but through quiet
contemplation, through gently reaching and affirming an inward recognition of
good.
Today I walk in the pathway of inspiration. I know exactly what to do in every
situation. There is an inspiration within me which governs every act, every thought,
with certainty, with conviction, and in peace.
The key that unlocks the treasures of the kingdom of good is in my hand. I unlock
the doorway of my consciousness and gently open it that the Divine Presence
may flood my whole being with light, illuminate my being with its radiant flow, and
direct my footsteps into the pathway of peace and joy. I give thanks for this
wonderful inspiration, and I let it be so. And so it is.
Let all that you do be done with love. 1 Corinthians 16:14
