It is a matter of great honour and privilege to organize the prestigious 11th Annual

National Conference of the Society of Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Surgeons of India -

SELSICON 2018 at Banaras Hindu University. The Department of General Surgery, IMS,

BHU has always been in the fore front of academic activity and in this continuum we

will be organizing “SELSICON 2018” . The Theme of the Conference is "Journey from

basic to advance laparoscopic surgery."

Varanasi is the oldest living city in the whole world. The city of Varanasi not only

outshines the whole world in terms of its spiritual importance but also is the capital of

knowledge and learning since time immemorial. This is the city where Sushruta

practiced both the art and science of surgery in 600 B.C. and has documented his work

in famous Sushruta Samhita. The temples of Varanasi, Ghats and river Ganges and the

vibrant university established by Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya Ji are the testimony to the

fact that visiting to this city is not less than a pilgrimage to the capital of knowledge

and learning. We invite you to join us in this annual feast of knowledge, where you can

share your experience and interact with the experts. We sincerely hope that you take

home pleasant memories of the SELSICON 2018.

The 11th annual SELSI is being organized by Department of Surgical

disciplines BHU, Varanasi under the able guidance of Prof. A.K. Khanna and Prof.

Mumtaz Ansari. The undoubted organizing capabilities of the team at Varanasi

promises a comprehensive workshop and a memorable scientific content. This would,

in no mean measure, be made possible by the invited stalwarts of laparoscopic

surgery, who can be seen both operating and interacting over both basics and

advanced laparoscopic procedures.

I would request both, the post graduates to attend and learn the basics and

the practicing surgeon to see the advanced procedures being performed and observe

the nuances of techniques. The scientific confabulations and debates too would be

highly enriching.

We welcome you all from 28th to 30th September 2018 at Varanasi with

the promise to fulfill your expectations.
