IFA will support employers to uphold the high quality of apprenticeship

standards and be able to respond to the changing needs of business.

Support employer-led reforms

Regulate the quality of apprenticeships

Enable reaching three million apprenticeship starts by 2020

Aims and Impact:

• Ensure high quality standards and assessment plans

• Maintain employer engagement in apprenticeship development and

move these functions away from Government

• IfA to carry out quality assurance functions to support standards and

assessment plans

• Enhance link between the development / content of standards

/assessment plans / the allocation of funding.

• Over 160 Awarding Organisations approved to issue UK National

Qualification Certificates

• One qualification might have more than one Awarding Organisation –

but all are just as valid

• Develops qualifications with SSCs

• Develops assessment methodology with SSCs

• Commercially sells qualifications via training providers. Paid per

qualification taken by a student

• Checks the training providers are delivering to a set quality standard

• Some operate internationally and in many subject areas, some are

very specialised
