Tea has been the second most popular drink in the world. All teas are made from the camellia sinensis bush. Many people think tea started 5,000 years ago in China. The smart emperor Shen Nung was the first person to discover tea. Here is a picture of the Emperor Shen Nung.

You can make the tea hot or cold. Also there are many types of teas. Coffee contains more caffeine than tea. Afternoon tea is not popular anymore, because a lot of adults go to their office. But you can still find afternoon tea in England. Afternoon tea was popular one hundred fifty years ago. Tea drinking has an old history going back five thousand years.

Tea is produced in China, Japan, Taiwan and Sri Lanka. Many people believe the purpose of the tea bag is to make the tea taste better. The first tea bag was made in America.

Tea processMaking tea is kind of an art. Tea can be only harvested in spring, summer and fall. Green tea is usually from Asia.Premium tea must be picked by hands. You need to roll the leaves for oxidation and drying. Different steps from here on will produce different teas.Lastly, different oxidation level will make a different tea.

Rolling teaFirst they cut the leaves, and then they expose it to air make the tea taste good.

Packing teaTea is packaged for transportation.

Plucking teaTea is usually hand picked by women and children.

Transporting teaTransported all over the world by ship or plane.

Tea factoryAfter plucking the tea, the workers send the tea to the tea factory so the tea can be processed.

Sifting teaTea is sifted through different sized meshes.This process removes any stalks and sorts the tea into different grades.
