choose between a specialised or general LLM until you

start the programme.

Career prospects There is a high demand for law professionals with expertise in a specialised area of law such as Corporate Law, Intellectual Property Law, Competition Law and International Security Law. With an LLM from the University of Glasgow, you will be well placed for roles in law firms, banks and financial institutions, entertainment and media companies, think-tanks, regulators, competition agencies around the world, international organisations, government departments (ministries of foreign affairs, defence, justice, home affairs, and development), and non-governmental organisations.

What will I get from this programme?• The programme provides in-depth treatment of relevant areas of UK, EU and international law.• You will benefit from our excellent facilities including the dedicated School of Law library; our main University library also contains our extensive collection of legal materials and official publications and is a European Documentation Centre.• We have a very vibrant mooting programme and a dedicated Moot Courtroom. We have an outstanding record of success and you can participate in internal, national and international mooting competitions. • Guest-speaker presentations, an active research seminar series and other extra-curricular events provide you with a unique opportunity to meet lawyers and academics from around the world, become exposed to some of the most topical discussions, and to engage with current debates that will enable you to become highly competent in any taught area of law.• The School of Law hosts CREATe, the RCUK Centre for Copyright and New Business Models in the Creative Economy, which brings together an interdisciplinary team of academics from law, economics, management, computer science, sociology, psychology, ethnography and critical studies within a consortium of seven UK universities.

Programme structureThe LLM is structured into courses that run over two semesters. This provides the opportunity for in-depth study without the immediate pressure of examination preparation. Coursework forms part of the overall assessment alongside exams, and provides a way for you to measure your progress throughout the year. You will also be required to submit a dissertation at the end of the programme.

Programme flexibilityFlexibility in the LLM programme structure permits personal ‘tailoring’ of the programme. There are two ways to select your LLM programme:
