CLINICAL CREW LIFE: SUPPORT. EDUCATION. CONNECTION.

SUIT UP TO SAVE LIVES

headquartered in Greenwood Village, Colorado, and has operations at nearly

300 bases, serving 48 states.

The company’s air medical fleet is one of the most modern in the industry and consists of more than

AIR METHODS: THE INDUSTRY LEADER

In addition to supplying quality equipment, the company provides new teammates with a comprehensive training program, which includes ongoing training for professional growth and development.

RELATIONSHIP-BUILDINGEqually important is the development of positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals and the public. After nearly 20 years as a flight paramedic, I still love what I do and it is the one call I continue to answer. RANDALL MORRIS, FLIGHT PARAMEDIC

As the leader in the air medical industry, Air Methods is seeking professional clinical teammates to partner with us to serve our communities. We are interested in hearing from those who have met the following minimum standards.

Because the safety of patients and crew are always a top priority, Air Methods provides specialized training, night vision goggles and flight operation oversight by

a centralized operational control center.

Each year, the company flies close to 130,000 air medical flight hours and transports more than 70,000 patients

who require intensive medical care from the scene of an accident or hospitals to highly-skilled trauma centers or

tertiary care centers.

Standard medical crew configuration for Air Methods consists of a flight nurse and a flight paramedic operating under the direction of a local medical director. In addition, Air Methods has more than 70 physicians supporting the Community-Based Services (CBS) side of the business; these physicians provide support and oversight within the local service area. We have developed national patient care guidelines as well as systematic review of best practices. These are provided for the local medical directors to support their efforts but are subject to local needs and revision as long as the overall corporate standards are met.

MEDICAL DIRECTION

Our teammates have an enormous obligation to our patients and their families—not only to assess the nature and extent of a patient’s illness and injury and prioritize care needed, but also to assure safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. That’s why Air Methods has developed standardized medical and operations orientation programs for all new hires. The first phase of orientation is held in Greenwood Village, Colorado, at our corporate headquarters and training center. The director of education oversees orientation with assistance from the company’s education manager and regional clinical education managers. Air Methods utilizes both clinical and didactic education in development of its medical teams.

As part of our ongoing commitment to education and training, we have invested heavily in the METI critical care human patient simulators and a web-based distance learning system to support the local medical education process. Additional educational offerings, to include lab and physician lecture experiences, enhance recurrent clinical education. Clinical personnel are also required to attend a certain number of staff meetings, and teammates must keep current with all requisite job criteria. Air Methods utilizes an electronic medical patient record with direct interface to our QA/QI process. This system supports both corporate and local medical oversight and medical direction.

MEDICAL OPERATIONS & TRAINING

HIRING PROCESSIn order to be considered as an official Air Methods candidate, you must apply online through our website at airmethods.com/careers (e-mailed and paper resumes will not be accepted). The recruiter and hiring manager will review your resume, and qualified candidates will be invited to take our online clinical exam. Successful candidates will then meet Air Methods leadership in person for an on-site interview to determine knowledge and suitability. During the process, we invite candidates to interview us, as well, to ensure a good fit overall.

Because of the scope of Air Methods’ operations, flight nurses and flight paramedics are afforded many opportunities for relocation and upward career mobility. If a flight nurse or flight paramedic is willing to relocate, he or she can choose from more than 100 community bases across the United States. Additionally, if qualified, nurses and paramedics have the opportunity for promotion to a range of management roles, helping to support our operations through leadership.
