JOHNSON MATTHEY ECT TECHNOLOGY CENTRE Royston, Hertfordshire CLIENT: JOHNSON MATTHEY PLC VALUE: £940,000 CONTRACT PERIOD: 29 WEEKS Johnson Matthey is a British multinational specialist chemicals company, founded in 1817 they currently employ around 1,700 staff at their Royston site, their principal operating facility for the UK. With so many staff working in the surrounding and adjoining buildings, careful planning and special considerations had to be taken to not disturb their day to day activities. Dedicated walkways and temporary fencing was erected to keep the works segregated from the Johnson Matthey staff and our Site Manager issued regular newsletters to keep all informed of how the project was progressing. Works consisted of a steel framed extension at first floor level, the removal of existing roofing along with asbestos, provision of a new goods lift and the reconfiguration of existing space to provide offices, laboratories and staff locker rooms.
