Después de muchos y variados papeles, el polifacético Johnny Depp (Kentucky, 1963) alcanzó la cumbre como el Capi-tán Sparrow de la saga Piratas del Caribe, hábil mezcla de acción, humor y una piz-ca de historia. Ahora, y aprovechando el fi lón, Depp será Toro, el indio sabio y con-sejero fi el de El Llanero Solitario, recrea-ción de la célebre serie de los 50 y 60. Sobre su papel, el actor avisó: “Mi propó-sito es no dejarme llevar por los estereo-tipos que han existido en el cine ameri-cano acerca de los indios”. Habrá que ver si lo ha logrado. Por lo pronto, muchas comunidades aborígenes ya han criticado un fi lm que nace con polémica.

FROM PIRATE CAPTAIN TO A WISE AND LOYAL INDIANAfter a wide variety of roles, versatile Johnny Depp (Kentucky, 1963) reached the peak of his Hollywood career as Captain Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean saga, a fi ne cocktail of action, humour and a dash of history. Now, on its coat-tails, Depp will be playing Tonto, the loyal Indian giving wise advice to The Lone Ranger in a recreation of the famous TV series from the 50s and 60s. Speaking on his role, the actor has said: “My intention is not to get swept up in the stereotypes US films have always applied to Indians”. We’ll have to wait to see if he has succeeded. In the meantime, many Native American communities have already criticized a film shrouded in controversy.

Lejanos ya los días de Dire Straits, Mark Knopfl er (Glasgow, 1949) vuelve a España para presentar su álbum más re-ciente, Privateering, el octavo de su pro-ducción en solitario y el primero doble.“Quizás sea pánico al paso del tiem-po, pero cuanto más envejezco, más ganas de escribir tengo”, afirma el músico escocés, considerado el 27º mejor guitarrista de la Historia por la revista Rolling Stone.Será una excelente oportunidad de ver la progresión de un estilo personal que fue cambiando del rock al country, y de este al blues y al folk, ritmos claramente do-minantes en este trabajo que Knopfl er paseará por los escenarios españoles.

THE SULTAN OF SWING IS BACKLong after his days in Dire Straits, Mark Knopfl er (Glasgow, 1949) is returning to Spain to present his most recent album, Privateering, the eighth in his solo career and his fi rst double album.“Maybe it’s just panic at seeing time fl y by, but the older I get, the more I want to write”, says this Scots musician, ranked nº 27 in the Rolling Stone list of all-time great guitarists. This will be an excel-lent chance to view the progression of a personal style that has been changing from rock to country, and on to blues and folk, the beats that clearly dominate this record that Knopfl er will be parading around Spain’s concert circuit.

Desde el pasado 18 de abril, la aritmética ofrece sorprenden-tes resultados en el puerto de Palma de Mallorca, donde a partir de entonces 4 x 300 es igual a 7. Ese día fue puesta en servicio la ampliación del muelle de Poniente, que aumentó su capacidad en 4 nuevas líneas de atraque de más de 300 metros de eslora cada una. La obra permite que el puerto de Palma pueda acoger simultáneamente hasta 7 cruceros de dicho tamaño, lo cual explica el hallazgo matemático.

La ejecución de la ampliación abarcó un año y medio de trabajo y su coste total fue de 33 millones de euros. Palma de Mallorca es el 2º puerto de España, el 4º del Me-diterráneo y el 12º del mundo en número de cruceristas.

“Lo de navegar me viene desde la cuna, lo llevo en el ADN”, afi rma Ignacio Marco Preto (La Coruña, 1965), hijo, nieto y sobrino de marinos que desde 1989 trabaja en Trasmediterranea, “y hace 7 años que comando barcos”. Su último embarque, antes de desembarcar por vacaciones, ha sido en la ruta Melilla-Almería, donde este verano opera uno de los buques más modernos de la compañía: ”Nuestros superferrys aseguran un viaje confortable por la amplitud y variedad de zonas y servicios a bordo; y también por los avances tecnológicos que recogen sus estabilizadores y sistemas antiescora, que amortiguan los movimientos del mar”.

“Sailing is something I was born with, it’s in my DNA”, says Ignacio Marco Preto (Corunna, 1965), a son, grandson and nephew of seamen and employed by Trasmediterranea since 1989, “although I have only been at the helm for 7 years”. His last shipment, before landing for holidays, has been in the route be-tween Melilla and Almería, where one of the shipping line’s most modern ves-sels will be operating this summer. “Our superferries guarantee a comfortable voyage thanks to their spaciousness and the wide variety of areas and services on board; and also thanks to the technological advances such as their stabiliz-ers and anti-listing systems, capable of compensating for the sea swell.”
