From the Pastor 08DEC2019
We quiet our heart, mind and soul as we prepare for Christmas during this Advent season. We have 16 days left to ready ourselves for the celebration of the birth of our Lord. “Silence is the elevator to heaven.” We practice “silence” in our busy world as we prepare.
Thank you to the Parish Council and all the volunteers who made our Parish Raffle a complete success! We sold all 300 tickets. We will use the proceeds towards the maintenance of our Church.
Let us know if there is any friend or family member who needs a visit from a priest before Christmas. Be assured of our daily prayers.
Fr. Ed Gorman, OP Dominican Friars Holy Innocents Church Go Navy beat Army
We extend our sympathy and promise of prayers to the family and friends of
Frank Moro, (husband of Barbara)
Denis McCarthy, (father of John)
Rose Ruvo, (mother of Matthew)

PLEASE - NO PERISHABLE items. Do not leave anything in the containers that
needs to be refrigerated.
The Pantry is in need of: Peanut Butter & Jelly, vegetables, fruit, and vegetable oil.
Religious Education
Today is the Second Sunday of Advent. Time to light the second candle on our Advent Wreaths! The students are preparing their hearts and souls for the coming of Jesus. Our Third through Eighth Graders received the Sacrament of Reconciliation over this past week. There is no better way to start the Advent Season than by receiving God’s love, mercy and forgiveness.
Our classes are busy working on our Advent Calendars, we are filling the trough with straw of “good deeds”, and we are focusing on all the signs and symbols of the Advent Season.
As a Religious Education Program we are collecting Rosary beads and crayons for Archbishop Chris Cardone, OP in the Solomon Islands. Reaching out to others is such a beautiful way to keep Christ in Christmas!

“QUIET MASS” Holy Innocents Church
December 25th at 5:15pm
This Sunday night, December 8th at 7:30 PM the Music Ministry is presenting our sixteenth annual
Lessons and Carols.
The Music Ministry joins with our parish lectors and our pastoral team combining talents to create a service of scripture and song showing the loving purpose of God from the fall of man, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus told through Bible readings (lessons) interspersed with hymns (carols).
The parish musicians, the Adult, and Teen choirs have been working together to make this a memorable evening for all. We hope you will join us for this special evening of song and prayer in preparation for the holy season of Christmas. A reception will follow in the social hall.
All are welcome !! Come and bring a friend!
The Music Ministry appreciates your singing/learning the Chant Mass along with us.
The first piece of this setting is the Kyrie - #842, it begins the Penitential Rite, we express a plea for the full richness of God’s mercy within our human vulnerability.
Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison, Kyrie eleison
The next piece is the Sanctus - #844, which begins the Liturgy of the Eucharist. This is the most important of all the people’s acclamations. It is meant to be a cheer, a joyful shout of thanks and praise to God, coming at the end of the preface prayer, where the priest has been enumerating the reasons for praising and thanking God.
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dominus, Deus Sabaoth. Pleni sunt coeli et terra Gloria tua. Hosanna in excelsis. Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini. Hosanna in excelsis.
The Post-Consecrationem - #845, we, the assembly, are given a voice in the middle of the Eucharistic prayer to declare that we believe that a change has just happened, the essence of our faith, Jesus is now present in the Eucharist.
Mortem tuam annuntiamus, Domine, et tuam resurrectionem confitemur, donec venias
The last piece is the Agnus Dei - #848, which occurs when the priest displays the consecrated Host and is a prelude to our invitation to Communion.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: miserere nobis, Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: miserere nobis, Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: dona nobis pacem
