GIPPa:
Creating innovation in FTTH roll-out
through cooperation!

The Challenge for joint innovation in
FTTH rollout
“The demand for broadband is growing. The Netherlands now
face a massive operation: connecting every single household to
high-speed fiberglass networks. On average, yearly 200
thousand homes get Fiber to the Home. The goal is to increase
the capacity to 500 thousand new connections per year. But
how do you optimize construction? Which innovative building
methods are available? How can certain bottlenecks in the
current logistics be overcome? These questions are to be
answered by GIPPa, a joint innovation platform that started
earlier this year”

Some conclusions on GIPPa
• All partners are actively involved and cooperative
• Working groups have produced project initiation documents
• Worked out innovation ideas for pilot projects, changes in processes,
• Informal discussion between Reggefiber, contractors and suppliers
is Much valued by all parties and has led to immediate
improvements
• GIPPa partners are also competitors; however, fruitful cooperation
is working when the ‘win-win’ is clear and transparent principles are
followed
• Reggefiber has a special role, and must work the hardest of all, to
ensure trust, cooperation and fair division of benefits
