IMPORTANT NOTES HOW TO USE THIS MANUALThis manual explains how to install and operate your ULTI 1 Gang and 2 Gang Switches.
PRODUCT SAFETYThe ULTI unit complies with IEC60669-2-1 and operates at a RF frequency band of 2.4 GHz, ISM band standard. The effective radiated power of the Handheld Remote Controller Units does not exceed 1mW.
Additional hardware (like by-pass capacitor) is recommended to be used depending on the load type. Please read the load type table carefully to decide if your load type requires the use of this by-pass capacitor or not.
WARRANTYULTI products come with a one-year equipment-only warranty.

WARNING
1. Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) MUST be switched off before changing loads. In switch off position, there is no isolation provided by the switch unit and line (AC) voltage will exist on the terminals and lamp socket even when the unit is in switch off mode.
2. Switch units cannot directly replace mechanical switches that are wired for 2 way (or more) circuit without modifying the wiring.
3. Installation of the switch unit behind large metal objects, such as refrigerators, cabinets or cupboards etc. will affect the wireless range and performance of switches.
4. Installation of the switch unit must be done in a plastic wall box. Using a metal wall box may dampen the radio signals, thereby reducing the efficacy of communication.

INTRODUCTION
ULTI CONCEPTULTI, The Ultimate Switch, is a Schneider Electric Concept. It is a state-of-the-art lighting control and electrical automation scheme for residential, hotel and office use, offering sophisticated design, operational simplicity and flexibility to control electrical devices.
ULTI WIRELESS LIGHTING CONTROL SOLUTIONWith ULTI, you can use a Handheld Remote Controller Unit to control all functions, including pre-programming of multi-combination light groups and electrical home appliances for up to five different scenarios. With a simple touch of a button, you can call upon the preferred setting for your chosen activity.
This product operates as a standard wall-mounted Switch / Dimmer and can be retrofitted into British standard wall box.
ULTI TERMINOLOGYZone - An area illuminated / controlled by a single lighting circuitSwitch - A switch that controls the on-off of a zoneDimmer - A switch that controls the on-off and dimming level of a zoneScene - A “scene” is defined as a combination of lights and electronic appliances
across various zones with different light levels. You can set your favourite scenes by following Programming Procedures in the Handheld Remote Controller Unit manual

1. Important:
- Always turn OFF the MCB before installation, maintenance, servicing (or replacing the load) of the switch unit
- Excessive load will damage the product (please refer to the Load Type Table for permissible maximum loading)
2. Make sure the cover plate is separated from the Switch / Dimmer module before installation takes place
3. Make sure there is sufficient depth (40mm) on the wall to install ULTI Switch / Dimmer. A British Standard (BS) wall box must be used for installation
4. Connect the load cables to the Load terminal first and then the power cables to the Live terminal after
5. Fasten the screws of both terminals and make sure wires are properly secured

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR LOAD TYPES AND POWER RATINGAll allowable load types are listed in the load table.
The power rating of both, low voltage halogen lamps and their transformers (Iron core or electronic), must meet the minimum load requirement as given in load tables.
The total capacitance of loads is limited to be 140µF.
In case of any flicker in load in OFF condition, it is recommended to use a 275VAC X 2 safety grade 0.33µF by-pass capacitor across load (refer the figure in wiring diagram section).
Use of good quality, International brands of CFL/LED lamps is highly recommended. Use of sub-standard or inferior quality products may result in reduced performance.
PROTECTIONAn external 10A rated current standard MCB should be in series with the main power upfront to protect the switch.

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
Symptom Possible Cause Solution
Switch/Dimmer is not responding to the FreeLocate Switch
1. Not previously programmed or improper programming
Repeat the Programming Procedures
2. The selector switch on FreeLocate is still in the programming mode
Slide back the selector switch to the In Use position and retry
3. Voltage is too low Make sure the operating voltage range is within the requirement
4. Latency due to presence of another RF network very close to the switch/dimmer
Ensure that there is a minimum of 2 meter distance between another RF network/signal from the unit(s)
5. Another ZigBee network is accidentally created on the FreeLocate
Clear the memory and re-programme the FreeLocate. It’s possible that multiple ZigBee networks are accidentally created while programming
6. Over-loaded / Over temperature protection
When the switch is over-loaded, the switch turns off its output. Please check if the switch is over-loaded and reduce the load to be within specification. Then, power reset the switch

19ENGLISH
Symptom Possible Cause Solution
Unable to programme
1. Red Programme LED indication after the Programme Button is pressed
This indicates that the FreeLocate is not a part of the network, press the setup button on any one of dimmer/switches in network and press set up button on FreeLocate again to join it in the network
2. The Switch does not receive programming commands
Check the position of the function selector at the back of the FreeLocate Switch. Make sure it is in the Programme position
Switch/Dimmer is not responding to the FreeLocate Switch and LED does not flash
1. Batteries are installed incorrectly or the batteries are low or dead
Replace with new batteries

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
Symptom Possible Cause Solution
Main light or LED backlight does not turn on
1. Wires are not properly secured or connected in the terminals
Make sure the wires are secured, screws are fastened and the Live or Load wires have been connected to the correct terminals
2. MCB is OFF or has been tripped
Switch on the MCB. If a breaker continually trips, contact a registered electrician to find out the cause of the problem
3. Temporary disorderSwitch off the MCB and then on again to reset the switch
Main load is turned off automatically
1. Power rating is too low
Replace the load that meets the minimum loading requirement
2. Wires are not properly secured in the terminals
Make sure the wires are secured and screws are fastened properly
3. Controlled by other Handheld Remote Controller unit within the area
Determine which Handheld Remote Controller unit(s) is (are) controlling the particular main load. (Refer to Identity, Copy procedures)
