JOB DESCRIPTION

As in all military and in the majority of civilian organizations, duties and

responsibilities increase with rank. Each cadet is expected to prepare for assuming

additional responsibility and higher positions. These descriptions are minimums

that each individual should accomplish.

A. The Cadet Commander is responsible for:

1. Command and control of the Cadet Squadron.

2. Directing the actions of the subordinate commanders and the cadet staff.

3. The appearance, discipline and training of the Cadet Squadron.

4. Keeping the lines of communications open and working down to the last cadet in

the flight element.

5. Assisting the instructors in the conduct of leadership training.

6. Establishing and posting goals to be met by the Cadet Squadron.

7. Planning, conducting and evaluating all Cadet Squadron functions. (E.g. all local

parades, community projects, field trips, annual inspection briefing, recruiting,

Military Ball, Awards Night, Picnic and Field Day, etc.)

8. Making promotion recommendations.

9. Administering Cadet Squadron activities according to Air Force principles and

procedures.

10. Conducting follow-up on actions delegated to department commanders and

cadet staff.

11. Maintaining a close liaison with the SASI & ASI instructors regarding all

Cadet Squadron activities.

Assists the Cadet Squadron Commander in all duties outlined below.

C. The Cadet Color Guard Commander is responsible for:

a. Recruiting qualified cadet team members

b. Training the cadet teams for their performances/competitions.

c. Leading the cadet teams in ceremonial functions.

d. Commanding the cadet teams in competitive events.

e. Ensuring all team members follow rules and are good ambassadors

of NHS in conduct and appearance at all times.

(1) Assisting the group commander with command and control, discipline,

appearance, and training.

(2) Directing and supervising the actions of flight commanders.

(3) Evaluating the performances of flights.

(4) Ensuring required and appropriate training is conducted by the flight

commanders.

(5) Conducting random inspections of flight commander binders and records.

E. The Cadet Flight Commanders are responsible for:

(1) Appearance, discipline, and military training of the flight and for conduct

of flight members during leadership training and in the academic classroom.

(2) Assisting the instructors in the classroom and on the drill pad.

(3) Appointing specialists such as personnel, public affairs, etc., for duties as

assigned.

(4) Recording individual participation in corps events.

(5) Leading and directing the flight at all cadet formations.

(6) Advising the instructors on matters pertaining to the flights.

(7) Reporting to the Vice Squadron Commander or Squadron Commander on the

status of their flight.

(8) Ensuring flight is aware of scheduled activities.

F. The Cadet Administration Officer is responsible for:

(1) Recording attendance and keeping minutes of the Cadet Wing Weekly

Staff Meeting.

(2) Authenticating, publishing, distributing, and filing all wing orders.

(3) Maintaining Wing Orders Binder.

(4) Ensuring all flight orders are published and filed as required.

(5) Acting as recorder on cadet boards.

(6) Publishing and maintaining the Cadet Wing Roster with the first one to be

produced by the end of the first six-week period with updates occurring as needed

to keep roster current.

required, and maintaining a record of cadets who leave ROTC.

(2) Making cadet assignments as directed by the cadet wing commander.

(3) Maintaining Wellness Questionnaires folder and entering into WINGS.

(4) Data collection of Pre & Post wellness assessment data

(2) Supervising the activities of the corps photographer and public affairs

specialists.

(3) Meeting with the SASI/ASI for approval of all press releases.

(4) Preparing recruiting displays in coordination with the squadron commander.

(7) Coordinating with the NHS newspaper/yearbook staffs on Squadron.

(3) Keeping the Cadet Squadron organizational charts current with current

photos, names, ranks, etc.

(4) Maintaining inventory of video and photo supplies.

AFJROTC recruiting efforts.

(2) Coordinating drill team exhibitions, recruiting displays, cadet

presentations, and question and answer session for the annul visits to Norwalk

middle schools.

(3) Managing the supply of AFJROTC recruiting brochures.

(4) Coordinating with the Public Affairs Officer for recruiting information.

(4) Manage and monitor the Hand Receipt folder and update WINGS.

(2) Assisting the MPC in maintaining cadet supply records, conducting

inventories, and in providing proper supply discipline to the Squadron.

(2) Ensure all equipment has been identified as “Property of the USAF”

(2) During Unit Evaluation show Regional Director inventory and answering

his/her questions.

(4) Providing technical expertise as required.

(2) Planning, developing, and coordinating the award nomination process with the

SASI.

(3) Working with the SASI/ASI to plan and execute the annual Squadron Awards

Night.

(4) Updating cadet awards in WINGS profile.
