1. Introduction Job analysis is a family of procedures to identify the content of a job in terms of activities
involved and job requirements needed to perform the activities. It provides the organization
important information in order to determine which employees are best fit for specific jobs. Thus,
it is important for the job analyst to understand what the important tasks are and how they will be
carried out and the necessary human qualities needed to complete the job.
The job analysis was done on two designations of Bahria University, Islamabad campus,
provided by the instructor, web developer and web developer MIS. The output of the job analysis
would be job description and job specification. The job description is a statement of the tasks,
duties and responsibilities of a job to be performed. It also provides the jobholder with key
information such as the reporting relationships, working conditions and supervisory
responsibilities. It is one of the products of job analysis. The second product of the job analysis is
job specification. It is the statement of the needed knowledge, skills and abilities of the person to
do the job. Hence, it is a list of the job’s human requirements that is requisite education, skills,
personality and so on.
There are multiple methods to conduct a job analysis such as, interviews, questionnaires,
observation and logs and diaries. The information will be gained from employees, supervisors,
managers and job analyst himself. It is usually conducted by the job analyst, and outside
consultant and supervisor. The job descriptions and specifications are used for HR planning,
recruiting. Selection, compensation, training, performance management, health, safety and
security, employee/ labor relations and equal employment opportunities.
For example, the job analyst may tour the job site and observe the workers performing their jobs.
During the tour the job analyst may collect materials that directly or indirectly indicate required
skills. The analyst meets with the workers or incumbents, thus, a survey can be administered.
The job analysis was conducted through questionnaires and interviews from the job holders. For
the questionnaire we took help of online job analysis questionnaires and for interviews we
devised questions after getting to know about the jobs in focus i.e. web developer and web
developer MIS.

1.1 Combination Job analysis
In order to make job descriptions and specifications, combination job analysis method is used.
The C-JAM is borrowed from FJA and task inventory. This method gives the information about
what gets done on the job and how. This method is also borrowed from JEM (job element
method), so that information about human attributes needed to perform the tasks is summarized.
The information about human attributes is essential for purposes of personnel selection. In C-
JAM the task statements are developed and importance of tasks is rated. The knowledge, skills,
abilities and other characteristics (KSAOs) needed to perform the tasks are developed and rated
on their importance for job performance.
