  • IntroductionIn India,urban population increasing day by day. Urban population is likely increase to 600 million by 2030 and 900 million by 2050.

    The Government of India has launched JNNURM on 3rd December 2005.

    The JNNURM stands for Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.It is a scheme under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns.

  • JNNURM IIRajeev Awas YojnaMinister UD, Shri Kamal Nath announced second phase of JNNURM in July 2012.

    Central Government approved RAY on 3rd September 2013 as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS).

    RAY is for 2013-2022.Its goal is to provide slum free cities.

    Providing basic civic infrastructure and social amenities in intervened slums.To enable reforms by addressing some of the causes leading to the creation of slums.To facilitate a supportive environment for the expansion of institutional credit linkages for the urban poor.Institutionalizing mechanisms for prevention of slums including creation of affordable house stock..
