The existing re tower is repurposed to form an experiential memorial for the london Fire Brigad. It engages the public by drawing them in and connecting them to the new London Fire Brigade Museum, Which is situated within a portion of the historic Fire Brigade Headquarters Building.

The exisiting greenspace is disconnected and largely un-utilized by the local residents. The new development enhances the connections to existing green spaces by introducing porosity and accessibility through the site and beyond.

The building mass and heights are arranged so as to optimize views of the Thames and maximise daylight in the housing units.

Eight Albert Embankment exemplifies an overlapping condition of multiple social and cultural drivers within the Vauxhall area. These include the Thames River, the historic fire brigade headquarters building, disconnected public green spaces and an emerging art scene. The Rescurrecting vauxhall Project seeks to form a cohesion between these factors to develop strong community connectivity and promote economic well being.

Considering the site’s adjacency to the Thames, a visual and literal connection is made bu pulling water from the river into the site. This water is used to create a reecting pool at the base of the london Fire Brigade Memorial Tower.

The design examines the site on an urban scale in order to develop linkages between the existing city fabric. These include primary ciculation paths, visual connections, prominent commercial corridors, and proximimity to green space. The design itself represents the convergences of these factors, and enhances the existing conditions to increase overall connectivity.
