DIVISION 1 -GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

SECTION 01 71 23 -Field Engineering

1.01SERVICES OF LICENSED SURVEYORA. Contractor shall pay for services of a licensed surveyor who shall fully and completely layout all work required by the Contract.

B. The Contractor shall furnish certifications from a licensed surveyor that all portions of the work are located in accordance with Contract Requirements and at elevations required thereby.

C.The licensed surveyor shall

1. Identify and locate existing control points, boundary lines, property lines, corner stakes indicated on the drawings before starting work. Promptly notify Project Representative of any discrepancies within twenty-four (24) hours of discovery of same.

3. Locate and protect control points before starting work and preserve all permanent reference points during construction.

a. Make no changes or re-locations without prior written notice to Project Representative.

b. Report to Architect when any reference point is lost or destroyed, or requires relocation because of necessary changes in grades or other reasons.

c. Replace project control points which may be lost or destroyed based on original survey control.

4. Establish a minimum of two permanent benchmarks on site, referenced to data established by survey control points. Record locations, with horizontal and vertical data, on project record documents.

5. Establish lines and levels. Locate and layout, by instrumentation and similar appropriate means:

a.Site improvements:

- Pavements

- Stakes for grading, fill and topsoil placement.

- Utility slopes and invert elevations.

b. Grid or axis for structures.

c. Building foundation, column locations and floor levels.

d. Controlling lines and levels required for mechanical and electrical trades.

6. Periodically verify layouts.

1.02STATUS OF SURVEYOR

The Surveyor selected for the purpose shall be subject to the Project Representatives approval. He shall not be a regular employee of the Contractor, nor shall he have any interest in the Contract. He shall not be employed by the Contractor in laying out any work, it being intended that surveyors certification shall present an independent and disinterested verification of such layout.

1.03FINAL CERTIFICATION

Final certification shall be submitted upon completion of work, or upon completion of any section of work, if required by the Project Representative, and before final payment is made. Any exception or deviations from the Drawings shall be noted on final certificate, and there shall be included any map, plot, note, and the like necessary in the opinion of Architect to constitute a full and complete report.
