TOP jewelry industry associations and groups from more than 20 countries and regions gathered in Luohu on Friday to witness the establishment of the Belt and Road jewelry extended fashion industry league. The league, the first of its kind in the world, will serve as a universal platform of information exchange and resource sharing for fashion industries from home and abroad. It is also the first effort of the Belt and Road Initiative in the jewelry industry. “Shenzhen is an important city in the field of jewelry and fashion,” said Gao Zimin, vice mayor of Shenzhen, at the launch ceremony. The amount of gold and jewelry processed in Shenzhen accounts for over 70 percent of the country’s total. Gao pointed out that the establishment of the league will promote the overall development of the industrial chain of the jewelry extended fashion industry. According to former vice minister of foreign trade and economics cooperation, Long Yongtu, the Belt and Road Initiative is not a Chinese solo, but an ensemble of countries all over the world that can bring tangible benefits to the people. He believes the league will open up the entire industry chain from raw materi- als and design to processing and sales, bringing real and tangible benefits to the world’s jewelry industry and people all over the world. Former vice prime minister of Thailand Korn Dabbaransi described the Belt and Road Initiative as a road to world peace and prosperity. As an innovator for the jewelry industry, the league is sending a strong signal to the world, which will strengthen the exchange and cooperation in the international jewelry industry and bring it to a new level. Dabbaransi pointed out that Shenzhen is a leader in China’s jewelry industry and is the epitome of the country’s rapid and miraculous development. He is con- fident that the league that has been set up in Shenzhen will lead the global jewelry industry into prosperity. At the opening ceremony, the league also released the Shenzhen Declaration, which maps out the league’s vision and missions. According to the declaration, the league is aimed at optimizing the distribution of the industry chain worldwide, helping the industry develop in a healthy and all- round way and making the league’s forum international and influential. To this end, the league will create a platform for information sharing and establish a database of global mineral resources. It will also set up a jewelry trade index through big data and estab- lish an industry inspection base to pro- vide comprehensive services like project promotion, resource coordination, tech- nique training and business matching. In addition, the league will build an international investment and financ- ing platform for jewelry and mineral resources by setting up an industrial investment fund and organizing confer- ences. It will also create an international jewelry raw material distribution center and open up trade routes. An important part of the ICIF, Shenzhen Curio World has organized multiple interactive activities, such as a forum and lecture on protection, a place to try on traditional Han Chinese costumes, a treasure-hunting activity and a ceramics workshop for students. A forum focused on preserving the Longquan Celadon was held Thursday where five porcelain masters attended and shared their viewpoints on protect- ing as well as promoting this particular traditional Chinese art. Teachers and students from the City College of Huizhou exhibited their works of art and creativity, showing the vitality of cultural creativity. Protecting the copyright of artwork in the Internet age was the focus of a lecture that attracted experts in artwork copyright to answer questions from practitioners of the arts. Some other fun and interactive activities were also organized at the subvenue. The activity for trying on Han costumes was organized yesterday, with many visitors getting to experience a manner of dress that dates back to the Han Dynasty. Besides the activities, seven exhibitions of porcelain, jade, jewelry and other works of art have also been held at Shenzhen Curio World.
