    Matthew 7:

7Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it willbe opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeksfinds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9Or what man is thereamong you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? 10Or ifhe asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? 11If you then, beingevil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your

Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him! 12In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you wantthem to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets. 21Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter thekingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is inheaven will enter. 22Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast outdemons, and in Your name perform many miracles? 23And then Iwill declare to them, I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHOPRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.

Matthew 23:9Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father,He who is in heaven.10Do not be called leaders; for One is yourLeader, that is, Christ. 11But the greatest among you shall be yourservant. 12Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbleshimself shall be exalted. 15Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travelaround on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one,

you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves. 23Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithemint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightierprovisions of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but theseare the things you should have done without neglecting the others.

24You blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!33You serpents, you brood of vipers, how will you escape thesentence of hell?

34Therefore, behold, I am sending you prophets and wise men andscribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of themyou will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city tocity, 35so that upon you may fall the guilt ofall the righteous bloodshed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood ofZechariah, the son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between thetemple and the altar. 36Truly I say to you, all these things will

    come upon this generation.

37Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stonesthose who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather yourchildren together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under herwings, and you were unwilling. 38Behold, your house is being leftto you desolate! 39For I say to you, from now on you will not seeMe until you say, BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!

Luke 6:12One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, andspent the night praying to God. 13When morning came, he called hisdisciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designatedapostles: 14Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew,James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, 15Matthew, Thomas, James son ofAlphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot, 16Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

20And turning His gaze toward His disciples, He began to say, Blessed areyou who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. 21Blessed are you who

hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, foryou shall laugh. 22Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracizeyou, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of theSon of Man. 23Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, yourreward is great in heaven. For in the same way their fathers used totreat the prophets.24But woe to you who are rich, for you are receivingyour comfort in full. 25Woe to you who are well-fed now, for you shall behungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. 26Woe

to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used totreat the false prophets in the same way.And if you lend to thosefrom whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Evensinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full.

35But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to themwithout expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungratefuland wicked. 36Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.46Why do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say? 47Iwill show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my wordsand puts them into practice. 48He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a floodcame, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, becauseit was well built. 49But the one who hears my words and does notput them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground

without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, itcollapsed and its destruction was complete.

Luke 12:1Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that theywere trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, saying: Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, whichis hypocrisy.2There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, orhidden that will not be made known. 3What you have said in the dark will beheard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner

rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.

4I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the bodyand after that can do no more. 5But I will show you whom youshould fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has powerto throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.6Are not five sparrowssold for two penniesa? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7Indeed, thevery hairs of your head are all numbered. Dont be afraid; you are worthmore than many sparrows.

8I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also

acknowledge him before the angels of God. 9But he who disowns me beforemen will be disowned before the angels of God. 10And everyone whospeaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyonewho blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

11When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do notworry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, 12for theHoly Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.

29And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worryabout it. 30For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Fatherknows that you need them.

47That servant who knows his masters will and does not get readyor does not do what his master wants will be beaten with manyblows. 48But the one who does not know and does things deservingpunishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who hasbeen given much, much will be demanded; and from the one whohas been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

49I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it werealready kindled! 50But I have a baptism to undergo, and howdistressed I am until it is completed! 51Do you think I came to bringpeace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52From now on there

will be five in one family divided against each other, three againsttwo and two against three. 53They will be divided, father againstson and son against father, mother against daughter and daughteragainst mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law anddaughter-in-law against mother-in-law.
