Phase 1Ages 1-2: “I Can Do It”

• The Phase when Nobody’s on time, Everything’s a mess, and One Eager Toddler will insist “I can do it.”

• They blend reality w/ imagination & learn best through their senses.

• Embrace their physical needs so they can know God’s love and meet God’s family.

• The Goal: Develop Confidence

• 884 Weeks and Counting . . .

Phase 1Ages 3-4: “Why?”

• The Phase when anything can be imagined, everything can be a game, and one curious preschooler wants to know, “Why?”

• They blend reality w/ imagination & learn best through their senses.

• Embrace their physical needs so they can know God’s love and meet God’s family.

• The Goal: Cultivate Self-Control• 780 Weeks and Counting . . .

Phase 2K – 1st Grade: “Look at me”

• The Phase when unfiltered words make you laugh, homework makes you cry, and life becomes a stage where your kid shouts “Look at me.”

• They want to see how things are working & learn best through concrete evidence.

• Engage their interests so they can trust God’s character and experience God’s family.

• The Goal: Improve abilities• 676 Weeks and Counting . . .

Phase 2 2nd – 3rd Grade: “Sounds like Fun”

• The Phase when Fairness matter most, Differences get noticed, and your enthusiastic kid thinks anything sounds like fun.

• They want to see how things are working & learn best through concrete evidence.

• Engage their interests so they can trust God’s character and experience God’s family.

• The Goal: Broaden Competence• 572 Weeks and Counting . . .

Phase 24th – 5th Grade: “I’ve Got This”

• The Phase when friends are best friends, games are for competition & your confident kid will insist “I’ve got this.”

• They want to see how things are working & learn best through concrete evidence.

• Engage their interests so they can trust God’s character and experience God’s family.

• The Goal: Develop Friendships• 468 Weeks and Counting . . .

Phase 36th Grade: “Who Cares”

• The Phase when there’s never enough groceries, too many hormones and a dramatic kid that needs someone to prove, “Who Cares.”

• They construct new thoughts & learn best by trial and error.

• Affirm their personal journey so they can own their own faith and value a faith community.

• The Goal: Gain Stability• 364 Weeks and Counting . . .

Phase 37th – 8th Grade: “Yeah, I know.”

• The Phase when nothing you do is cool, everything is fun in a crowd, and one smart kid will keep reminding you, “Yeah, I know.”

• They construct new thoughts & learn best by trial and error.

• Affirm their personal journey so they can own their own faith and value a faith community.

• The Goal: Discover Uniqueness• 312 Weeks and Counting . . .

Phase 49th Grade: “This is me now.”

• The Phase when friendships shift, grades count, and interests change so often your teenager has to explain “This is me now.”

• They want to discover meaning & learn best by processing out loud.

• Mobilize their faith so they can keep pursuing authentic faith and discover a personal mission.
