I hope everyone is having

a great summer! I have taken a

couple mini-vacations to visit

friends and family and help

Jeffrey move (again). I hope all

of you have had the opportunity

to do the same. We met in July

and had quesadillas and

watched the movie “Son of

God.” It was a good movie with

a huge reminder of what Jesus

did for us! Thanks to all who

participated. Rally Day for

Sunday School is August 24. We

will have a youth event

following Worship and the

Fellowship meal. Thanks for all

the continued support of the

Youth Program!

North Texas Association News

It may be summer, but there's still lots going on in the North Texas Association of the UCC! First and foremost, a heartfelt thank you those who attended Rev. Charles Rice's funeral this past month; I know it meant a lot to his family. Please continue to pray for his family, his church, and especially Tanya his wife. Tanya has asked memorial funds be given to St. Paul Evangelical and Reformed UCC in Dallas. Condolences may be mailed to her at 608 Knollwood Trail Ct. Oak Point, Tx 75068. Cosmopolitan UCC in Carrollton, Texas is excited to unveil their new sanctuary this month, and they warmly invite all NTA members to join them on Saturday August 30th at 3 p.m. for an inauguration of the new sanctuary, and on Sunday August 31st at 11 a.m. for their 19th anniversary celebration with Filipino festivities! I pray that many of you, our NTA friends, will come out to see their beautiful new sanctuary and to experience the vibrant way this Filipino church family worships. In other news, First Community UCC in Dallas has generously offered to host a "Come and See" for the New Beginnings Assessment Service of the UCC on Saturday September 13th at 10 a.m. If your congregation has 70 or less in worship, an aging membership, significant financial or building issues, or is located in a changing neighborhood, you might be interested in learning more about this service at the "Come and See." Spread the word: Central Congregational Church is seeking to hire a new part-time Assistant Music director and is also in the process of reviewing applications for the position of a part-time Associate Minister. For more information about these job opportunities, visit their website at www.centraluccdallas.org. Don't forget to follow the NTA online on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ntaucc. A new website is also in the works, as well as an upcoming clergy gathering! Hope to see all of you at this fall's association meeting on Saturday October 18th at 9:30 a.m. at First Congregational UCC in Fort Worth; we have very important business on the table for the day as well as a wonderful program of worship and the arts! — Rev. Anna Humble, North Texas Association Minister
