The purpose of ‘We Love Pop’ is to ‘inform and educate’ (Katz) the audience on Pop music and celebrities. The magazine contains different articles on music artists and interviews. The magazine coers pop artists such as Rihanna and Justin Bieber. The magazine also gives fashion tips highlighted through the verbal code “Bright's For Your Beachbag”.

PURPOSE AND MEANING

Page 4: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

PURPOSE AND MEANINGWe Love Pop is a new monthly music magazine which launched in September 2011. Each issue contains 68 pages and its target audience is teenage girls aged between 13-16 years old.

The masthead looks bold, bright and quirky as it is slanted and the black and pink which stands out. Black normally has quite negative connotations, however here it could simply be used to make the masthead literally “pop” out the page to a pass along audience. The colour pink in the heart is aesthetically pleasing and connotes that it’s a girls magazine.

Cover lines including features on fashion, beauty and also about boys. There are supplementary images used which are crucial for this age group as they are attracted to an image led magazine. The verbal code slogan “Don’t bore us. Get to the Chorus” from one of the cover lines connotes to the target audience to be exciting and have a lot of energy, as well as how the readers stereotypically have very little patience.

We Love Pop is published by Egmont UK and has circulation figures of around 115,000. The typical content of a We Love Pop issue are articles on artists/bands, interviews, features on film, fashion, technology, and beauty and advertisements from companies also aiming at the teen audience such as Universal Music, Boohoo and So Fragrances.

Page 5: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

PURPOSE AND MEANING

Price £2.99 – This reveals that the magazine is affordable for teenagers because they get a little bit of pocket money and then can buy the magazine.

There are similarly males on the cover for the young girls who find these boys attractive and appealing both in their musical talents and appearance. Features on fashion, film, technology and beauty link to the young female audience also especially when at this age girls are discovering who they are.

The font, like on cover is basic and simple as the music and other features can do the talking. Similarly their is an informal feel with the way the editors note looks written almost like an autograph which can link with how magazines have close relationships with their audience. There is quite a busy layout

which is still smart and can reflect perhaps how this issue is packed full of amazing things to benefit the target audience.

Page 6: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

PURPOSE AND MEANINGThe masthead looks bold, bright and quirky as it is slanted and the pink and yellow are strong colours that stand out.

‘We Love Pop ’ is the magazine I have chosen for my first magazine and i ts genre is pop as you can tel l by the name.

Genre - Furthermore you can tel l the genre is pop because of the colours on the magazine. The bright pink connotes the magazine wil l primari ly aimed for the female gender. Also the bright pink heart appeals to a younger demographic . Also the fact the magazine has used art ists such as ‘Litt le Mix’ and ‘One Direction’ highl ight the magazine’s genre is pop because they produce ‘pop ’ music and are common in the pop genre especial ly appeal ing to young females.

CONTENTS ANALYSIS The masthead looks bold, bright and quirky as it is slanted and the black and pink are strong colours that stand out.

Black normally has quite negative connotations however here it could simply be used to make the masthead literally “pop”.

Similarly the neon pink has connotations of happiness and energy which sparks from the colours used to make it (red and white). This could be a representation of the young teen audience.

Pink also has connotations of heat which could link to how the young female audience find the cover male “hot”.

Subheading and sub-lines – The subheading is the name of the story and the sub-lines are underneath and it is short sentence about the story.

There is a direct eye contact which pierces through to the reader and create a real intimate feel as its like the celebs are looking at the reader.Images - The small images anchor the stories that are on the contents page.

PRODUCTION PROCESS

On the next slide is the Production Process of the steps you have to take when making a magazine. I did email Bauer to see if they could give me an exact Production Plan however they did not get back to me therefore I found a valid one off the internet.

http://hosbeg.com/the-magazine-production-process/

Page 15: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

Set a date for the magazine to be published. Manage a schedule for the magazine so there won’t be

any mistakes for the magazine to be published. Sub editing is to check all the spelling and format to

make sure it is suitable to be published and to make a lot of copies. Also it is to keep their reputation good quality.

The page layout is to check on the format of the pages to see if everything is spaced out enough for people to read.

Proof reading is re- reading everything to check spelling mistakes and printing it out as one hard copy and seeing what it will look like. Therefore you can correct anything then print all the pages off.

Publication and distribution- At this stage everything has been proof read it can be printed and sent off to stores and been made to sell to the public.

PRODUCTION PROCESS

Page 16: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

PROOF OF DISTRIBUTION EMAIL

Leatherhead

I sent this email to the Bauer Media because then I know how they process their magazines in the industry.

Page 17: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

PROOF OF DISTRIBUTION EMAIL

I have forwarded my last message I sent to Bauer advertising company as I didn’t get a response. So therefore I sent another email to find out the production process so that I knew how to produce my magazine like there's as they are my inspiration.

Page 18: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

FORMAT AND STYLE The main image of both of these magazines is a current, well known female artist, which is iconic because anyone who is interested in this genre of music will know who they are. In this case they literally represent the music.

The colour schemes for both of these magazines are pinks and purples, linking back with the target audience of females.

Front cover Freebees - Attract a reader to buy the magazine as stereotypical teen favourite goodies are advertised.

House style- Bright primary colours create a pop vibe which stand out against each other as they are opposed.

Crowed layout expresses how much interesting things the magazine includes. Bold basic fonts are easy to read and eye-catching.

The style of the magazine is quite busy compared to other magazines. The magazine is published in A4 format.

Page 19: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

FORMAT AND STYLE The non-verbal code of the main image of the first contents page I have picked is of male pop star Olly Murs, he is an iconic image because again for this genre of music magazine, people will know who he is.

Pop music Masthead analysis Uneven framing Medium angle shot makes the female audience feel like they’re right in front of a famous attractive celebrity.

Medium close up shot shows a very short distance between the celebrity and the audience. There is selective focus within the frame which gives the audience a choice of what to buy, view or enjoy.

Puff promotion - provides a small amount of interesting information about a certain article therefore persuades the reader to buy the magazine and read it.

Barcode, price and issue date-informs the customer of vital information.

Page 20: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ANALYSISMain image- The main image is a motivated image of Meghan Trainor. The pop artist is looking glamorous posing.

Pull Quotes - Pull quotes interest the reader as they are quoted by Meghan Trainer and supports what is said in the article.

Format - The format of the double page spread consists of a large main image of the artist features and text in columns on the right hand side of the empty space of the picture.

Fancy font established by loads of colours to highlight it, house style colours are continued. Often inclusive language used again to involve the reader in the text.

Stand First – It briefly summarizes what the page is about in a humorous way.

Star appeal (Richard Dyer) – Megan Trainor is a pop singer who appeals to a male audience as she is attractive and also a female audience because she produces good music and is pretty and fashionable.

Page 21: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

The target audience is directed at females aged 13-16 years old (Hartley). This age range would stereotypically like music artists such as One direction, Cher Lloyd, Tulisa from N-Dubz and Rihanna as their type of music (R&B/Pop) appeal to a younger audience.Considering the price of the magazine is £2.99 this is a great price for the target audience as it is very affordable for this age group.

TARGET AUDIENCE

http://www.welovepopmag.co.uk/search/Rihanna

Page 22: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

TARGET AUDIENCE

According to Hartley We love pop would appeal to 13-15 year olds, female and male because he looked at gender and age.

Also According to socio- economics needs graph the audience would fit in to the categories of D and E because the age is 13-16 year olds therefore they wont have that much income and so they will be highlighted as students and unemployed.

According to Katz the target audience would fit into the category ‘Diversion’. As they are able to escape from everyday life stresses by reading magazine that will ‘inform and educate them.’ They are learning new songs and new artists who come out in the magazine.

Maslow – According to Maslow the audience would be put in the category of “Social climbers”, “survivors” and “Explorers”. The audience are ‘social climbers’ as they like the though of status and having nice things, therefore they will like reading about celebrities who have this status and ‘star appeal’ (Richard Dyer). They would be survivors as they like the thought of knowing the magazine will be released monthly with new information about the music industry. Lastly, they would be explorers as they are driven by social change so reading this magazine they will be updated with new information.http://www.mediaweek.co.uk/article/1080493/egmont-launches-new-teen-magazine-we-love-pop

Page 23: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

There are a lot of females similar and just older ages used other cover which can support that the audience is female as the music stars are there to be admired and used for

aspiration from the young girls. There are similarly males on the cover for Young girls who find these boys attractive and appealing both in their musical talents and appearance. Features on fashion and film, technology and beauty link to the young female audience also especially when at this age girls discover who they are!

MAGAZINE TWO

Page 25: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

The purpose of ‘Q’ magazine is to ‘inform and educate’ (Katz) the reader on all different types of genres of music, this is named as eclectic. Inside the magazine there are various articles of music artists and interviews. ‘Q’s strapline is “Discover Great Music”. The word ‘discover’ connotes the audience are going to be loaded with different information and will learn something new. The word ‘great’ highlights Q is not an average magazine but a great one.

PURPOSE AND MEANING

Page 26: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

PURPOSE AND MEANINGMagazine is just the letter Q, it is in upper case font which stands out and also the white colouring of the font is layered upon a prime red and this helps it stand out too.

The headline Artic Monkeys is in upper case and contrasts against the simple background, also some of the other musicians are behind the lead singer.

The colours used are typical of general rock magazines, with red, black and white being the main palette. However, blue is also used in places to provide a contrast with the red, and perhaps to give the magazine a possible ‘British’ feel.

The masthead is barefaced but very simplistic. The font of the masthead is very simple and unique but shows effectiveness. The colours used are white and red which contrast against each other. The red is very eye-catching and will catch the readers’ eyes easily. The fact that the magazine is called’ Q’ shows simplistic and maturity which suggests that there is a older target audience. Barcode: The barcode states what issue the magazine and gives the website and price of the magazine.

Cover lines: The cover lines are down the sides of the magazine and state what will be inside the magazine to give the reader an insight beforehand.

Page 27: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

Founders Mark Ellen and David Hepworth were dismayed by the music press of the time, which they felt was ignoring a generation of older music buyers who were buying CDs, then still a new technology.

Q was first published by the EMAP media group in October 1986, setting itself apart from much of the other music press with monthly production and higher standards of photography and printing.

The magazine was sub-titled "The modern guide to music and more".

Originally it was to be called Cue, but the name was changed so that it wouldn't be mistaken for a snooker magazine.

Date of publication – The first thing to do is to set up a date of publication.

Managing the schedule – This is a real ly important step that you should not take for granted when it comes to the production of a magazine.

Editorial and budgetary decision – The next step that is taken during the production process of a magazine is the editorial decision.

Content Acquisition – The most important step because without content we can’t have the magazine in the first place. Content therefore is the main piece.

Sub-editing – This focuses on one major thing, which is qual ity control. • Page Layout – In big publications, there is a special team responsible for page layouts cal led the layout staff.

Proofreading – Once the above stage has been completed, the next stage is the proofreading.

File emailed to printer – After the proofreading stage, the desktop publishing file of the entire magazine is sent to the printer whose job wil l be to print the magazine.

Distribution – The printing company, having finished with the printing of the magazines, wil l package them neatly and send them to a warehouse.

According to Hartley my magazine would appeal to 16-35 year olds, female and male because he looked at gender and age. CONCLUSION

Page 38: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13
Page 39: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MOOD BOARD - HA

Page 40: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

I chose these pictures for my mood board because they are singers and rappers that are in teenagers magazines. This is important because the audience can personally identity (Katz) with my magazine more and it would interest them by attracting them by the pictures.

For example, Ed Sheeran is a pop singer and teenagers mostly listen to pop music, like on Capital and Kiss FM.

CONCLUSION TO MY MOOD BOARD

MOOD BOARD - JKZ

Page 42: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

I have placed these images on my mood board because the audience will be able to Personally identity (Katz) with the singers/rappers.

The genre for Artic Monkeys is indie rock, therefore I have chosen to put this in my mood board because I have a range of genres, like R&B, Rock and Bass.

CONCLUSION TO MY MOOD BOARD

PROPOSAL - JKZ

Format: I am going to create a magazine in the genre of pop which means it has all different types of genres and will be in the form of a front cover and a double page spread.

Working Title: My working title is JKZ although it might change because I don’t know whether to keep the smaller bit of the title straight under each letters of JKZ or just place it underneath. The music magazine is very simple and easy to read because the font is red and white background and is very easy to read. The title of the magazine JKZ will be placed at the top Left hand corner. The colours that the title will be presented in are black, red , white and some bits of dark green. Genre:My genre will be targeted at 15-25 year olds because it will be for teenagers and young adults who enjoy pop music, R&B and Hip, Hop music. Content:‘JKZ’ magazine will be full of pictures, articles, album reviews, gig reports and song lyrics. The publication will also feature bands that are generally quite small and not mainstream. Most will be signed to small record labels or perhaps not signed at all.

Page 44: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

PROPOSAL - JKZStyle or Approach:

The denotation of the colour scheme for the magazine front cover will be red, black, grey and dark green. The colour red was chosen from Q magazine because it’s my magazine of inspiration. The colour Dark green connotes that it’s a different colour and stands out and also suits the target audience. I am going to use Photoshop to construct the magazine pages (Front Cover and DPS) because it’s an easy way to sort and make everything up clearly. Some of the tools in Photoshop that will be particularly beneficial in constructing the front cover will be the text tools because then I can add my text it easily. Audience:PRICE; £2.99The audience are male and female. They are 15-25 in general although some might be older and a few younger. Music is a big part of their life and they will base most of their activities and their style around this music. Length: • What will the size of the magazine be (A3, A4) and whyI intend to make 16 pages including the front and back cover. It will be A4 in size.

Page 45: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

PROPOSAL - HA

Format - my genre of my “HA” magazine is pop. It will be obvious that it is pop because it will have pop articles on the front cover. Working title – My verbal code “HA” means my magazine will have some jokes inside of it to keep people entertained and focused on the magazine. Genre - My magazine is a pop magazine. My magazine of inspiration is “We heart Pop”. Which is also a pop magazine, as you can tell with the title. I chose this magazine because it has the detail and frame that I liked and wanted on my magazine and I have changed it around as well.

Content – My magazine will be full of images and games for the young teens to play and not get bored with it and a waste of money. My magazine will also be supplying a toy in the front of the magazine so more teens will buy it more and then make more of a profit by it.

Style or Approach - My magazine won’t be the same text all the way through. There will be some pages which will be out going and bright to catch peoples eyes more.

Audience – My target audience will be girls 11- 17 Length - My magazine will be 62 pages long and some pages will be A4 like posters will fold out to be bigger so the young girls can put them in their rooms. Frequency - My magazine will be £2.70, and it will be a monthly magazine.

Page 46: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

FRONT COVER INSPIRATION ANALYSIS

Magazine is just the letter Q, it is in upper case font which stands out and also the white colouring of the font is layered upon a prime red and this helps it stand out too.

The writing ‘ Artic Monkeys is in upper case and contrasts against the simple background, also some of the other musicians are behind the lead singer.

I'm going to repeat the colour scheme and the house style (Repeat, Neale 1980) because I want my magazine to be similar so it will sell.

Page 47: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

DPS INSPIRATION ANALYSIS

Stand First – this is a short introduction to the interview explaining what it will be about.

Main headline – Is the persons name who they are interviewing. So it makes it clear what the page is about and who the artist is.

Main images - The main images convey that that’s who is in the interview and that’s who they are interviewing.

Steve Neale – 1980; “Genres are instances of repetition and differences” – I am going to repeat certain conventions such as the stand first and drop capital.

The paragraph columns make the page look neater and well set out. Also it is easy it read.

The artist who is the main feature is someone who is extremely well known in the music industry, the clothes are smart suggesting he might be a bit indie and might show it through his music as well.

The Header of this double page spread is neat and organised also goes in with the picture because he looks smart.

Drop Capital – this letter is larger than the others to entice the reader in to reading the interview. It also highlights where they should start reading.

Price

£2.70I chose this price because its cheap enough for students to buy it and also it is a monthly magazine so it needs to be quite expensive as it will be full of information.

The colour scheme would be red, black and grey because its like my magazine of inspiration which is Q. The colour red connotes energy and fire therefore it highlights my magazine is going to be full of new music information and will always keep you up to date. Furthermore, it is eye catching and stands out which is good for when it is distributed into shops. I chose black because it is bold and easy for the audience to read.

On the front cover it will share information about interviews and what pages they are on to read about it. Also it will be the top 10 songs of the week; and to say whether they are ready to buy on iTunes yet.

It will be released every month therefore there will be more pages than a weekly magazine so there will be more information. So there will be more gossip for everyone to be interested by. My magazine will compete with other monthly magazines such as Q and will have a similar release pattern.

GRAPHIC LAYOUT FRONT COVER 1ST IDEA - JKZ

I have made a Graphic layout of my magazine to see if everything would fit on the page and makes it easier for me to see what needs changing and what doesn’t need moving around on the page.

My magazine will be called JKZ because as the meaning of it is supposed to be ‘jokes’ it could illustrate the genre is entertaining and will be full of juicy gossip about the music industry and the audience will not get bored of the music and the information inside. The coverlines are placed around my main image because they aren't as important as the main image and they are also in a small font so the reader will be intrigued by it and want to see what it says. Strapline – I’ve put the strapline under my masthead so it will be the second thing people read to get to know my magazine even better.

I have put the puff promotion here in red because red is a strong colour and eye catching towards the audience. Therefore they will be able to see what the magazine is promoting or win something.

The social media symbols are to highlight where the magazine page on social media E.g. Facebook and Twitter.

Page 52: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

GRAPHIC LAYOUT – JKZ CONTINUED

The barcode has the issue number and the date which the magazine comes out. This is to highlight to the reader how old the magazine is and if it’s a new one of old one. The issue number is the number of magazines have been brought out.

The main image is in the middle to reveal to the reader who the magazine is about and also when you look on a page you look in the middle which also makes it stand out to the audience.

The headline is at the bottom underneath the picture so its what people look at after they see the picture of the artist. This is to show the reader who they are reading about and gives more than just a picture.

I have put the photo credit to the side because its not as important as the main image and it shows who has taken the pictures in my magazine.

FRONT COVER IDEA - HA I have made a Graphic layout of my magazine to see if everything would fit on the page and makes it easier for me to see what needs changing and what doesn't’t need moving around on the page. I have also found it easier with this graphic layout because if I don’t like something I can easily change it inside of rubbing it out or starting again on paper. I used this layout because its not the same as Q magazine and I wanted it to be a bit different. The ‘headline quote’ is next to the picture so they look at the picture and then see the headline after. The barcode and price has been put at the left hand side at the bottom to not make it stand out as much as the other bits on the page. Also it is there to show the price and the date it is released.

On this page there are a lot of images around and bits of information to show what the reader is reading about and not getting bored. The ‘Headline quote’ is placed in a star to make it stand out to the reader. I have placed the Puff promotion in a star to make it stand out and noticeable. Interview headline is at the top of the page to make it clear what the page is about and what type of page it is.

The target audience wil l be for young adults aged 16-35+ because they’re more young singers in the magazine and young people are mostly interested in singers/bands their age. Also the target audience is people who are into music and love reading about it and l istening to it.

According to Hartley my magazine would appeal to 16-35 year olds, female and male because he looked at gender and age. Also according to socio- economics needs graph the audience would fit in to the categories of C1, C2, D and E because the age is 16-35 year olds therefore they wont have that much income and so they wil l be highlighted as students and unemployed. According to Katz the target audience would fit into the category ‘Diversion’. As they are able to escape from everyday l i fe stresses by reading magazine that wil l ‘ inform and educate them.’Maslow – “Social cl imbers” and “survivors” – According to Maslow they l ike expensive things the target audience would fit into the category social cl imbers and they wil l l ike the celebrit ies and ‘star appeal’ (Richard Dyer) inside the magazine . The survivors want to know and l ike the routine of the magazine being produced monthly with new information about the music industry. ‘

The house and style of my magazine wi l l be modern and the colours wi l l be mainly red and black but wi l l be putting some dark green as wel l around the magazine. SECOND HOUSE STYLE OF THE MAGAZINE- HA

I used these colours for my second magazine because they are similar to the ‘We Love Pop’ and Q magazine I analyzed. That shows I have used my magazine of inspiration for this magazine.

Colour Scheme will be Dark red, blue and black. I chose the colour blue because today, blue is embraced as the color of heaven and authority, therefore the connation's of blue connote the magazine will be superior in the market.

Connotations behind these colors: Blue: Blue symbolizes, confidence intelligence as well as this the color blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body.

INTERVIEW DRAFT PLANNINGIn this lay out the text and images are spread out and have space. It has a clear heading that it is an interview and who about.

Also this page layout has two artistes on it being interviewed. In this interview they are talking about two artists and has pictures to show clearly who they are talking about.

Page 68: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

I chose Fetty Wapp because all the teenage girls/boys listen to him and he is in the age category, target audience and genre of my magazine.

Fetty Wapp is the star producers appeal (Richard Dyer) because he’s always on Capital and Kiss FM which teenagers listen to mostly everyday, so they know who he is.

I also chose Fetty because he’s an easy person to interview and he’s laid back person to talk to, and also is down with all the trends so my target audience would relate to him a lot.

My conclusion of my Q magazine is that it analysis's everything about it like the genre, house style and I had to made a draw out of my magazine of inspiration to help me make my own but not exactly the same as Q magazine.

Also I looked into the mind map and what ideas I can put on my magazine e.g. cover head, puff promotion, what I will call my magazine and the barcode etc.

I also looked into a mood board for ideas of whom I would put in my magazine.

Overall it was easier to design everything this way to help me know and find out what I wanted my magazine to be like and what style of magazine I wanted.

The conclusion for all this is the analyzing of the magazines and then being able to make your own front cover by drawing drafts of it so you can change what you’ve done wrong to improve.

Page 74: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

SURVEY MONKEY

I got 11 responses of my survey monkey and this graph shows the type of responses I got. All the questions reveal what type of things people are into and how much they would be spending on their magazine.

Page 75: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

This graph shows they’re more female than males who filled out this questionnaire and what type of demographic is the magazine designed for or who is attracts.

Page 76: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

This question reveals that there are more old teenagers who filled this out than older adults.

This could mean that the target audience is for teenagers and young adults.

Page 77: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

This question has a variety of answers to it so the genre could be anything which that reader likes. This helps me with making my magazine because then I can relate the magazine to everyone.

Page 78: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

On this question it highlights how often people buy a magazine and most of the people who answered it said every month or never. This can help me decide whether to produce my magazine monthly or weekly and looking at the results I need to make it every month so it suits what people want more.

Page 79: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

In my survey monkey questionnaire and it shows how much people would spend on a magazine. Most people said £1-2 which would more be for an older magazine. And the more expensive magazine like the £3-4 would be for a kids magazines because they would have toys in them so would be more expensive.

Page 80: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

On this question on my questionnaire I'm analyzing why you would buy a magazine. Most people said for the gossip and some people said general information and pictures. This helps me with making my magazine so I know what to put on my magazine so everyone will enjoy reading it.

Page 81: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

This question on my questionnaire is asking if you’d buy a magazine for the gift. Most people said ‘yes’ this can reveal they are not buying the magazine for the information therefore they might be putting it in the bin and just having the toy. The rest of them said ‘no’ which means they would want to buy the magazine for the information inside the magazine and not just the toy. This also helps me with my magazine by deciding whether to have a gift in the magazine or not.

Page 82: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

This question on my questionnaire is asking if you would subscribe to a magazine? Most people said ‘no’ this conveys how a magazine subscription service may not be as popular as buying it in the store.

Page 83: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE I gained feedback when I asked people what their favorite artistes were, the reason for doing this is to know what type of artists and genre of music I would include and will help me with making my magazine.

Page 84: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE QUESTIONNAIRE

This question on my survey monkey connotes why would you buy the magazine? And most people said for the gossip and for the pictures this conveys due the my young target audience they would prefer more gossip and images, so when creating my magazine I know not to put loads of content inside it.

Page 85: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

JKZ – HAND DRAWN DRAFTS I have put the strapline next to the front heading because it will be the second thing people see and then want them to read it even more. The main image is put in the middle so people will know what the magazine holds inside. Barcode is there to show when the magazine comes out and how much it is. The main image is in the middle because in my magazine of inspiration the main image is in the middle of the page.

Strapline – My strapline is “….” I put the strapline here so then the reader will see it once they see my logo. This is relevant because when they read my strapline they will associate with the brand of my magazine. Cover lines – As the main story is

at the bottom I have decided to put the cover lines above it to make them stand out to the reader. Cover lines are stories which are In the magazine.

House style – My house style colours are red, white and black. I choose these colours because they all go together and suit the age range of my magazine and genre of it.

Barcode – On my barcode I will have the issue date and price inside the barcode. The issue will be number 1 because it will be a brand new magazine. I will place the barcode above the main story just like in my magazine of inspiration Q

Puff promotion – Puff promotion allows the audience to win something. In my magazine thy are able to win iTunes festival tickets. Having a puff promotion is god because the audience are more like to buy the magazine if they want to win something.

Masthead – the masthead is the title of the magazine which is JKZ. My magazine will be called JKZ because as the meaning of it is supposed to be ‘jokes’ it could illustrate the genre is entertaining and will be full of juicy gossip about the music industry and the audience will not get bored of the music and the information inside. The background will be red and the writing will be white.

Page 86: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

‘Interview heading’ has been placed there to reveal what kind of page it is. The image is in the middle to show who they are interviewing instead of reading it and finding out you didn’t want to know about it. Also has loads of bits of information doted around the page and not bundled together, it is spaced out. I have put a large image in the middle to show who the reader is about straight away. The information is scattered around the page but also in columns to still make it neat and tidy on the page.

JKZ –HAND DRAWN DRAFTS

Pull quote from interview - I have put the pull quote on my page because it fills up empty space on the page and also when the reader sees it they will want to read on and find out what happens.

Main image – I put the main image in the middle to make it stand out also to show the readers who's the main artist is.

Main story title – compared to my other ideas for the main title, I wanted to make it diagonal to make it unique to the reader.

Stand first – The stand first is very important because it’s the first thing people see as the topic. The text is also eye-catching for the reader so they will see it first.

Page 87: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

HAND DRAWN DRAFTS - HAI used this layout because its not the same as Q magazine and I wanted it to be a bit different. I put the puff promotion, cover lines, main headline, main image, strapline, barcode, social media on the front cover. On the DPS I have put main image, interview, main headline and photo credits.

Page 88: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

The house and style of my magazine wi l l be modern and the colours wi l l be mainly red and black but wi l l be putting some dark green as wel l around the magazine. LAYOUT/COLOUR SCHEME/HOUSE STYLE

Page 89: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

SECOND HOUSE STYLE OF THE MAGAZINE

I used these colours for my second magazine because they are similar to the ‘We Love Pop’ and Q magazine I analyzed. That shows I have used my magazine of inspiration for this magazine.

Colour Scheme will be Dark red, blue and black. I chose the colour blue because today, blue is embraced as the color of heaven and authority, therefore the connation's of blue connote the magazine will be superior in the market.Connotations behind these colors: Blue: Blue symbolizes, confidence intelligence as well as this the color blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body.

Page 90: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

In my magazine I will be repeating, the house color scheme. I will be doing this so that my magazine stays looking professional and neat.

I will also be keep the same the position of the logo on the front cover, doing this means readers will know where to look for my logo when it comes to purchasing my magazine again.

I will include conventions such as the cover lines down the left and right handside of my magazine.

I will be adding in a puff promotion – selling something inside my magazine.

These are all the Test pictures I took of Izzy and Will. Also all the different ones with Izzy’s facial expression, her clothes are up to date in fashion it could also inspire people to dress like her.

Once I tested Izzy I decided I wanted to use Wills pictures because they related to my interview which was on Fetty Wapp which is a boy and would fit the stereotype of the genre.

PHOTOS (EXPLAINED)

I choose these photos to use because Will is looking straight at the camera which would catch the readers eye and get them more engaged in the magazine. Also it looks like he is looking at the reader.

These are the magazines I’ve compared my images too because they are both from Q which is my magazine of inspiration.

Page 102: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

Length: What will the size of the magazine be (A3, A4) and whyI intend to make 16 pages including the front and back cover. It will be A4 in size.

Page 103: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

PROPOSAL – HA

Page 104: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

In my proposal I talk about my target audience and how much my magazine will be also I talk about the colour scheme and house style. I made a proposal before I started making my magazine so I have ideas for my front cover and double page spread.

CONCLUSION TO MY PROPOSALS

Page 105: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

This magazine would have to have something special about it which attracts the reader more because it ’s a competitive business to get into with magazines and more people will be against you for doing the same genre as you.

To be ahead of the magazine market is to have a unique ideas and a suitable magazine for your genre.

Although by gaining a higher readership than the competitors is by having a low price for your magazine so people would by the cheapest one but still have good context inside and the same as a expensive magazine.

My magazine will be competing against ‘Q music magazine’ the reason why It will be competing mainly against Q is because my magazine has similarities to Qs, and in which I used for inspiration.

MAGAZINE MARKET PLACE

Page 106: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

Firstly, I created a my front cover by using a template which was called the international option.

Then I used paint bucket and had a grey background but then thought that was boring so I used the gradient tool and made it fade out a bit to make it more interesting.

Next I inserted my logo for ‘JKZ’ onto my front cover and edited it with the drop down shadow by using blending options.

Then I added the text ‘Fetty Wapp’ by using the text tool to add the text in. Then I used the blending options and made the text bolder and clearer.

Next I added the picture of Wil l onto a

separate document and used the quick selection tool and deleted the background of it so its just wil l , secondly I used the ‘blending options’ and edited around the edges of him to make them smoother.

STEP BY STEP TO MAKE MY FRONT COVER

Page 107: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

I then se lected the photo of Wi l l and dragged i t onto my front cover template and res ized i t to the s ize I wanted. Next I changed the colour of the ‘Fetty Wapp’ to a l ight grey colour because I couldn' t ’ t see i t wi th the bottom of the picture a lso be ing a dark colour and wanted i t to stand out more . I then added the puff promot ion onto my front cover; I made a smal l red c i rc le us ing the shape tool and then used the paint bucket the make i t red. Then I wanted i t to s tand out more so I used the b lending opt ions and made i t have a l i t t le shadow on i t . Then I added some text on i t and advert ised a fest ival in i t too. After that , I made a barcode; by doing th is I had to use the publ ic dr ive videos and I got a barcode and inserted i t onto my magazine, then I put the deta i l s of when my magazine is re leased (monthly) . Next I added some icons above i t l ike Facebook & Twitter to show where you can promote i t more . Also I put a Hash tag so people can Hash tag the magazine more and get more people involved wi th knowing about i t .

STEP BY STEP TO MAKE MY FRONT COVER

Page 108: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

Lastly, I Added who is featured in my magazine. By doing this I used the Text tool and made some lines to out underneath as it’s the same in my magazine of inspiration.

STEP BY STEP TO MAKE MY FRONT COVER

Page 109: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

First ly , I opened my DPS template up and changed the background to white us ing the paint bucket too l . Then I added my ‘ JKZ’ logo by going to insert and added my JKZ logo as a picture. Then I made two separate pictures and added two vers ions of wi l l to go at the top. I used the quick select ion tool and deleted the background and then used ‘fi l ters’ to make an effect on wi l l and I chose the cartoon one. Then I made them face each other and made it into one photo. After that I added in my interview with Fetty wapp. And made columns for the wr i t ing to go, a lso for i t to look smart and organized. Next I made page numbers to go at the bottom of the page. I used the text tool and made l i t t le numbers and moved them where I wanted then I a lso put my logo JKZ next to i t as i t ’s the same in my magazine of inspirat ion. I then added a heading us ing the Text I found on Da font and downloaded i t to my text tool and used i t . I had to made i t b ig enough to fi l l hal f a page and stand out a lot .

My magazine flat plan is useful because it enables me to see what my magazine would look like in full and what will be included inside the magazine. I can also see where my double page spread will go.

MAGAZINE FLAT PLAN CONCLUSION

Page 115: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

My magazine will cost £2.99 because all teenagers in the age range will be able to afford it. I have made sure I have made the price cheaper than Q magazine as I think this will give the magazine a good chance of selling against a popular magazine like Q.

I had to consider Hartley's 7 subjectivities and how age, gender, class, self image , nationality, family and ethnicity should be considered when looking at spending power.

SPENDING POWER

Page 116: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

I chose Fetty Wapp because all the teenage girls/boys listen to him and he is in the age category, target audience and genre of my magazine.

Fetty Wapp is the star producers appeal (Richard Dyer) because he’s always on Capital and Kiss FM which teenagers listen to mostly everyday, so they know who he is.

I also chose Fetty because he’s an easy person to interview and he’s laid back person to talk to, and also is down with all the trends so my target audience would relate to him a lot.

DRAFT INTERVIEW TO FETTY WAPP CONTINUED

Page 119: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE FINAL FRONT COVERMy magazine will be called JKZ because as the meaning of it is supposed to be ‘jokes’ it could illustrate the genre is entertaining and will be full of juicy gossip about the music industry and the audience will not get bored of the music and the information inside.

The font style is ‘Myriad Pro’ with the font colour being white with a red background similar to Q.

The competition in the market will be with Q, NME, XXL and Kerrang! because they are magazine of a similar genre. I am going to change a couple colours on my magazine from my ‘Q’ inspiration magazine and I am going to repeat the interview on another page of my magazine. My colour scheme is Red, Black and GreyMasthead – Is he same deign as Q’s masthead. Cover lines- I put my cover lines in the same place as Q’s so both magazines are similar. Barcode - I placed the barcode in the same place as Q’s magazine, which I am keeping the same. The main image – the main image Is in the same place as the one on Q’s magazine.

Page 120: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE FINAL DPS

On the double page spread the star appeal (Richard Dyer) is Fetty Wapp. He is appealing because he fits with the eclectic genre of my magazine.

There is a whole interview of him inside the life of the music industry and outside. I have used the same colour such as red and black similar to the front cover to keep up with the brand identity.

Page 121: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE FRONT COVER SECOND IDEA

My magazine will be called HA because it stands for ‘High Audio’ as it relates to music and the word ‘Audio’ connotes straight away to the audience that the magazine will provide you with music information. The word ‘High’ connotes the information will be top quality and up to date.

I chose the colour blue because today, blue is embraced as the color of heaven and authority, therefore the connation's of blue connote the magazine will be superior in the market, alongside other competitors such as Q, NME & XXL.

Page 122: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE DPS SECOND IDEA

On the double page spread the star appeal (Richard Dyer) is Fetty Wapp. He is appealing because he fits with the eclectic genre of my magazine.

I have used the same colour blue as on my front cover to keep up with the brand identity.

Page 123: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

In conclusion my magazine JKZ will feature Fetty Wapp on the front cover and double page spread. I have made a few changes compared to my plans as I feel the changes I have made make my front cover and DPS look more professional now I have finished I will be pitching my idea of JKZ and HA.

CONCLUSION

Page 124: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13
Page 125: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

ENVIRONMENT OF PRESENTATION

This is the environment I have presented my work to and the desks and computers is where everyone was sitting to see my work being presented. Also the projector was being used to project my work onto the screen so its big and clear for everyone to see. The clicker was used to change slide easily and with no fuss. Also it has a laser on the end of it so I pointed out what was important in my presentation.

Page 126: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

EVIDENCE OF PITCH

Me presenting my pitch to everyone. Based on verbal feedback from everyone I understood what I had to improve on my pitch.

Once I completed my pitch I was given a witness statement from the head publisher which helped me also improve on my pitch.

A negative on the feedback that I got was that I needed to add more detail to the slides I had done. By having this as written feedback it means I can go back and check if I have done everything correctly and not miss anything out.

Page 128: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

PowerPoint Prezi – I Uploaded my PowerPoint to Prezi Work document – I had all my proposals on there.

And my production plan Internet – I had to search survey monkey up on there

and use N.craftswordpress for some useful help/tips. Public drive – I used the public drive to check my

whiteness statements and use it for example help. Paper & pens – I used paper and pens to draw my

hand drawn drafts out.

Feedback of Pitch – Witness Statement

These are the feedback comments I got given back when I finished my presentation. This helps me know what I need to re-do and what things I have done well in.

Page 134: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

FEEDBACK OF PITCH - MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

This graph shows there are more female than males agreeing to fill this questionnaire out. This connotes that female readers are more likely to be concerned about the content of a magazine than male readers would be and that also they are more likely to except the content of the magazine to be tailored to their needs. This demographic is something to consider when producing my own magazine.

Page 135: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

This question reveals that there are more old teenagers who filled this out than older adults.

This could mean that I am better placed to target teenagers and young adults as I myself fit in to that demographic. This would mean that my own interests are more likely to mirror the interests of my potential target audience as opposed to trying to research and include the interests of an older adult target audience.

FEEDBACK OF PITCH - MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

Page 136: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

This question shows that the indie genre seems to be mostly popular so this would seem a good place to start when deciding on the content of my magazine. However pop, rock and R&B are also popular genres and perhaps more in the media eye than indie music would be as this tends to be less reported on and more of a niche market.

FEEDBACK OF PITCH - MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

Page 137: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

On this question it shows how often people buy a magazine and most of the people who answered it said never. This reveals the level of marketing I would need to consider when launching a new music magazine. This could mean offering a free sample copy or download to entice the potential audience to buy my full priced and fully formed magazine.

FEEDBACK OF PITCH - MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

I asked this question because then I will know how much people would want to spend on the magazine. This will help me decide on the price of my magazine bearing in mind what potential customers have said they are prepared to pay. Over pricing it might need to higher profits but could also switch buyers off from buying the magazine in the first place.

FEEDBACK OF PITCH - MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

Page 139: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

On this question on my questionnaire I'm analyzing why you would buy a magazine. Most people said for the gossip and some people said general information and pictures. This reveals that an indie genre might not be the best option as generally it is pop and rock stars who create gossip and hype.

FEEDBACK OF PITCH - MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

Page 140: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

This question on my questionnaire is asking if you’d buy a magazine for the free gift. Most people said ‘yes’ this could reveal they are not buying the magazine for the information therefore disposing of it to just enjoy the freebie. Giveaways are useful marketing tools but not something a new to market magazine would be able to sustain for any length of time due to the high cost no profit factor.

FEEDBACK OF PITCH - MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

Page 141: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

This question on my questionnaire is asking if you would subscribe to a magazine? Most people said ‘no’ this can convey that most readers don’t want to commit to paying for the magazine in advance. This could mean I will need to offer further incentive in order to persuade them to part with their money in advance in receiving a copy each month.

FEEDBACK OF PITCH - MAGAZINE QUESTIONAIRE

Page 142: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

This question is who are your favourite music artists? I asked this question because I wanted to know who everyone's favourites are so I can put them into my magazine and then it would appeal to everyone. Obviously I will now need to consider popular artists within the chosen genre of my magazine. This could lead to needing to complete further primary research with the intended target audience.

Production Plan- Launch Date:One of my corrections was that I needed to add more detail to my production plan, as well as this I needed to include the launch date of my magazine so that the publishers knew when my magazine was coming out, as well as doing this it gave me a target in mind so that I knew how long to give myself, and my employees to produce the magazine. Spending Power Improvement:The last area that needed to be added was added information on the spending power of the readers for the magazine. I will be able to find out what they are willing to pay for that magazine by looking at their disposable income and their spending demographic.

Pitch Improvements

Page 144: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

Here is evidence of me taking on board the improvements I was given, one of them was the I didn’t include the ‘spending power’ for my magazine.

I have looked through the corrections, and made sure that I have completed them, and here is evidence of that:

PITCH IMPROVEMENTS(CONTINUED).

BEFORE

PITCH IMPROVEMENTS - CHANGES TO FLAT PLAN

AFTER

My magazine flat plan was only 32 pages before I made the corrections which is only for a weekly magazine therefore I changed my magazine flat plan by adding more pages and now I have 64 pages.

Page 146: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

WITNESS STATEMENT IMPROVEMENTS TO THE MAGAZINE

On the witness statement I was told my DPS was incomplete and was lacking in conventions such as the Drop Capital. As you can see by the screenshot I have made this correction.I then decided to completely change the layout as I realised I forgot to add in a pull quote. I though the graphite background was also more stereotypical of the genre.

Page 147: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

TECHNOLOGICAL CONVERGENCEADVERTISING

To advertise my magazine I have made a Facebook page. The reason I am using Facebook to advetise my magazine is because the main target audience for my magazine is students therefore they are more likely to be using social media. This is an example of ‘Below the line marketing’. Furthermore, it is cheaper for the company to use Facebook as it is free.

My launch date is October 1st. I have some upcoming festivals in my magazine for V

Festival & wireless & reading. These festivals are in my magazine because teenagers and young adults go to them so they can relate and would enjoy reading the magazine more.

My magazine will be released the first of every month for the public to read. I like the idea of having the whole month to get ready for the next issue. There are no dates that will be in conflict with my release date for my magazine.

ETHICAL & LEGAL ISSUES

At its simplest, ethics is a system of moral principles. They affect how people make decisions and lead their lives. Ethics is concerned with what is good for individuals and society and is also described as moral philosophy.

Media ethics is the subdivision of applied ethics dealing with the specific ethical principles and standards of media, including broadcast media, film, theatre, the arts, print media and the internet. The field covers many varied and highly controversial topics, ranging from war journalism to Benetton advertising.

CONSENT FORM.

Here is my consent form, which I only side emailed this to the person I am taking the photos of.I did this for legal reasons.

RISK ASSESSMENT• Making sure the area is safe to be taking pictures.• Remove any wires so people wont trip over them and hurt themselves. • Making sure the flash off before.

Page 157: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

When creating my DPS and Front cover, I made sure before putting any images down, and when I wanted to resize them I made sure that I held down shift this is so that the image didn’t pixelate or warp.

I also made sure when positioning any images or text I used the ruler tool, doing this made sure that all my images were in line with the text so that it looked professional and neat.

As well as this when choosing my house colors, I would save my colors into the color swatch section, this is so that when I came back to adding color it was the exact same color so that everything looks neat.

SOFTWARE RISK.

RISK ASSESSMENT- PHOTOS

Before taking my pictures of Will I had to ask him if he was happy with it and also I checked the location to see if there was any sharp edges if he hurt himself. This screen shot shows me asking Will if its okay for me to take pictures of him.

ETHICAL & LEGAL ISSUES

Copy right issues – Copyright means you have to ask for permission to use their work. This can be shown on a photo or written work. This means I will have copyright on my work so then people will have to email me and ask for permission to use my work. © will be located above my barcode so when the readers are reading the price of the magazine they will see that it has the copy right symbol on it.

Data protection act - Data protection act means setting up rules that people have to follow by having Information Commissioner to enforce the rules.

Intellectual property - Intellectual property refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and symbols, names and images used in commerce.

Clause 1 – Accuracy

The press cannot publish any misleading pictures of information, they must be accurate on everything they do. For example, I must make sure I do not put an inaccurate date. If I was inaccurate I would have to really quickly publish an apology.

Clause 12 – Discrimination The press must not publish anything

prejudicial. For example anything about someone's religion or race.

PRODUCTION LEGAL ISSUES

Copyright – copyright is a form of intellectual property, it enables the creator of content the power to exclusive rights of their work. The right to privacy – people have the right to have their own privacy. When publishing content about people we need to make sure that we are not breaking any regulations. To make sure this doesn't’t happen, you would have to ask people that feature in the magazine will be asked for permission to use their images and information. Seditious and criminal libel – this is when information that is considered offensive is written about the government, whereas criminal libel is publishing information about someone or something that can create a negative reputation for the person.

Page 163: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

PRODUCTION ETHICAL ISSUES

Discrimination – the magazine has responsibly for all of its content to meet the editors code of practice. Therefore no content should include prejudicial content based on an individuals race, colour, religion, gender and sexual orientation. This may only be mentioned if there is appropriate relevance to the story. Children – as children are considered vulnerable there are many limitations to publishing content that specifically features them. Therefore it is important to establish a contract of agreement that can be signed by child's parent/guardian to enable us to publish content if entirely necessary. Accuracy – content that is published must not be inaccurate, misleading or distorted. This includes pictures, interviews and general information. Sourcing of details also must be precise, therefore material published should be definite fact and no rumors. If this ethical guideline is broken an official apology to the person must be made from the magazine. This is relevant to my magazine because accuracy includes pictures, interviews and general information; which is l ike my magazine. Also sourcing of the details must be true, so there wil l be no rumors going around that aren't true. Source: https

PRESS COMPLAINTS COMMISSION- I.P.S.O

The PCC used to be the body that regulated press complaints it has now been superseded by IPSO. It used to be an independent body which administers the system of self-regulation for the press. It dealt with complaints, framed within the terms of the Editors' Code of Practice, about the editorial content of newspapers and magazines and the conduct of journalists. It assisted individuals by representing their interests to editors in advance of an article about them being published.

When making my magazine I will have to consider the editors code, this is found on the press complaints commission website.

Harassment – In this image the picture shows the ruling appeared in a smaller font than the rest of the page, did not make reference to the PCC in the headline, and had been heavily edited, with around half of it not included. This was unacceptable to the commission, prompting a further critical adjudication which the magazine then published prominently and in full.

Discrimination – In this screen shot its discrimination women by their colour. The people magazine was sued because they only featured women who are white. Therefore this discriminates against of a darker skin tone and it also shows racism and sexism.

TRADEMARK OF THE MAGAZINE

This is how you register the trade mark of a magazine. This is a step by step process. The reason why you might trade mark is to protect the name of your magazine. Therefore I want to protect JKZ magazine.

COPYRIGHT AND ROYALTIES

Copyright is one of the main types of intellectual property. Others include designs, patents and trademarks. Intellectual property allows a person to own things they create in the same way as something physical can be owned. It is the right to prevent others copying or reproducing someone's work.

This is relevant to magazines because people might photocopy a magazine or a book and give it out as their own copy.

Many songwriters and composers ask The Guild of International Songwriters & Composers questions relating to the music industry, song writing, composing, lyric writing, music publishing and about music publishers.

Page 174: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

Page 175: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

MAGAZINE FINAL DPS

On the double page spread the star appeal (Richard Dyer) is Fetty Wapp. He is appealing because he fits with the eclectic genre of my magazine.

There is a whole interview of him inside the life of the music industry and outside. I have used the same colour such as red and black similar to the front cover to keep up with the brand identity.

Page 176: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

FINAL FRONT COVER I have changed the puff promotion to make it stand out more and visible to the reader.

I have put a white outline on the main headline because you couldn’t see it clearly without it. Also it looks more professional

I have moved the coverlines to the right more so they didn’t cover Will’s face and then made him stand out more.

Before

I have kept my logo the same throughout my magazine because when pitching people preferred this logo compared to my other one.

I have changed the main image because this image fitted the genre to my magazine more.

Page 177: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

FINAL DPS COVERI have changed the layout on my DPS to get all of the interview to fit into the columns.

I have added columns on my DPS to make it look professional and neatly laid out.

I have put the interviewer in the colour red to make it look separated with Fetty’s answers.

I have produced Will on the other half of the page to make sure the audience knows he is the star appeal.

I’ve placed the Facebook and twitter logo’s on my DPS to tell the audience that there are Facebook and twitter pages.

Page 178: Jessica Sheridan Unit 13

In my conclusion I have looked further into the feedback that I got given once I had presented my pitch to the class. This meant in depth analysing of the suggested improvements and how they will affect the production of the magazine. My improvements were to check through the work and check spelling, and to see if I have finished everything and completed it all to the best standard I could.

CONCLUSION
