This is the second edition of our digital Jeena News. Thank you for so many well received comments on the first edition.

2016-17 was a year of ‘new’ initiatives for India and will be remembered majorly due to Demonetization. Indian economy continued on the path of development by growing at 6.5%.

India has overtaken UK in terms of GDP to emerge as the fifth largest economy in the world.

Also, the Indian economy is expected to grow at 7.6 % in FY 2017-18, as per the forecast by The World Bank.

For Jeena, 2016-17 was a mix year with lots of ‘highs’ and few ‘lows’. We have taken several ‘new’ initiatives like Implementation of Suggestion Pool, Digital Marketing, Revising our service excellence parameters etc. for our customers, employees and other stakeholders.

We have become the first Indian Freight forwarding company to launch its own Mobile App which is appreciated by our EXIM customers.

We are also investing in several Digital, IT tools and automation programs to drive our growth while moving towards Digital JEENA. One shipper commented “a dream come true due to the friendliness of the Mobile App”

Logistics sector is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15-20 percent between F.Y 2016-2020. This growth will be driven by infrastructure investment associated with logistics development plans (Freight Corridors, Logistics parks, Ports and Highways), domestic demand growth and increase in trade. Automobile, Aviation, Pharmaceuticals, FMCG, and Retail are among the large cash cows which the logistics sector is currently riding on.

India’s logistics sector primary expectation in 2017-18 lies with the timely implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) as that would not only result in the absorption of various taxes involved in the transportation of goods and services, but will also increase efficiency in the business.

Jeena is already working on software implementation and will be the first forwarder to be GST compliant. Jeena has been conducting ESS – Employees Satisfaction Survey and we thank all the employees for rating the company a record high in the 90% range. Details are posted on website jeena.com

Engine

Against all odds, Cargolux moved a very odd size engine which is the first time this shipment has moved on any airline ex BOM without even having a dolly for shifting.

Marken has signed an exclusive agreement with Jeena for a combined worldwide network of services for the Pharma industry. Marken is the only patient-centric supply chain organization 100% dedicated to the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries, maintaining the leading position for Direct to Patient services and biological sample shipments, and offering a state of the art GMP compliant depot network and logistic hubs in 43 locations worldwide.

Jeena will act as Marken's exclusive sales agent in the India territory and will engage in continued, active promotion of Marken to enable new clients to access Marken's global network and tracking systems for shipments to and from destinations in over 150 countries. Marken in turn will utilize Jeena's logistics network within India for new business generated by this collaboration.

Age CountsThe Bombay Custom House Agents Association felicitated Members who completed 75 years as custom brokers at their 80th Year BCHAA Anniversary Function at NCPA and the honor went to Jeena & Company for the being the Oldest Customs Broker with a 116+ years in existence. With our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi’s demonetization drive to make India a cashless society, Ashish Parulekar, Manager, Systems, led Team Digital Vasai in a workshop on Digital Payments and Cashless Economy for senior citizens who were taught various ways to do transactions on their feature phones as well as smart phones, use M wallets and explained how cards and POS systems work.

Shekar Oak Mallikarjun

Mr. Shekhar Oak has joined us as Head – Sea Freight bringing with him a vast experience of over 32 years in our Industry – Shipping Lines, Forwarding /Logistics, ranging from Indian to Multi-national organizations. He has previously worked with United Liner Agencies, Marine Transport, Global Consoli -dators, Omega Global Logistics with his last stint being with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics where he led his team as the Director Ocean.

Mr. N. M. Mallikarjuna has joined us as Regional Head - South India Business Development at Bangalore. An MBA in International Marketing, Mr. Malik, as he is known in the BLR market, has a rich experience of around 24 years and has been associated with organizations like Panalpina, GEODIS and Bretling. His last assignment was with Gefco at Bangalore as Regional Head South India.

Mr. Ajay Sawant has joined us as Manager - LCL Consolidation for the Western region. Ajay is an industry professional with a rich and varied experience of 31 years and joins us from M/s. Mr. Rajendra Walekar has joined us as Country Head-HR and is an industry professional with a rich and varied experience of 25 years. He is also a hard core Logistics Industry veteran and has worked for organizations like AFL, DHL, Jetair and Mahindra Logistics; thus spanning a major stint in our Industry.

He has several certifications to his credit namely in Managerial Grid, Compliance and Industrial Relations aspects including 'First Choice' (International course related to entire Quality Management process).
