PUBLICATIONS (Author, Steering Committee Member and Publications Committee Member for Colorectal Cancer Monograph Project) The Colorectal Cancer Monograph Project was conceived by a group of researchers in late 2003. Led by CDC, a 12-member Steering Committee was formed to provide guidance to authors and to the five-member Publications Committee. The Publications Committee reviewed articles and sent their comments along with the authors’ responses and the hardcopy articles to the journal Cancer. The Cancer editorial office accepted the reviews of the colorectal cancer Publication Committee and did not perform additional peer review. Eleven articles and a Foreword appear as a supplement, titled Descriptive Epidemiology of Colorectal Cancer in the United States, 1998-2001, Utilizing Data from the NPCR and SEER Programs, to the journal Cancer (Cancer 2006 (Sept 1); 107 (5 Supplement): 1103 - 1204. 1. (CDC Cooperative agreement with DHSS – amount of award not available) FUNDING AUTHORIZED Three proposals prepared at request of Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services (DHSS), ranging from $75,000 to $1.3 million. DHSS put forward the $1.3 proposal to the State Legislature. Governor Nixon signed HB 21 on 28 August 2009; it includes authorization for $1.3 million in Stimulus funds for expansion of the Missouri Cancer Registry (collect additional treatment data; identify missing cases; and develop infrastructure to become a survival registry). At request of DHSS, a New Decision Item (NDI) was prepared in mid-2009 for ongoing support for MCR to continue expanded data collection and become a survival registry. If approved, this would provide $1.9 million annually for ongoing support for MCR. [Note: Due to the State’s budget situation, this proposal has not been put forward.]
