About MeI am a multidisciplinary artist whose artistic practice is made up of photography, music, painting, drawing, design, organising exhibitions, performance and workshops. I graduated with a degree in fine art in 2002.

Through my artwork, I aim to highlight things that other people may not notice. I have taken part in over one hundred exhibitions in the last fifteen years. I have been organising exhibitions at Threshold Festival for six years and was an exhibition organiser with HeadSpace for over ten years.

I am passionate about life, all things creative and about changing things for the better. I strive to bring out the beauty in whatever I create, whilst hopefully also making people think. I have lived in various places across England, Wales, Italy and America and have moved over thirty times in my life.

Having been around art, design, music and performance all of my life, I was also encouraged to question everything from an early age. All of my close family are creative in some way. I am dynamic, interested, passionate and engaged in what I do.

Please watch a recent interview I did with Bay TV LiverpoolPlease also read a recent interview by Artinliverpool.

PhotographyI provide photography services for a variety of requirements including: Corporate event photography; Public events and festival photography; Portrait photography for businesses and individual clients; Weddings and civil ceremonies; And Artwork.

I also provide workshops and training in basic digital photography and Adobe techniques.

I always meet with my clients in advance to find out specific requirements. This ensures that I am able to provide a service that is perfectly suited to an individual’s brief. It is important to understand the role the photographs will play, or the message that needs to be conveyed.

I have provided photography services for clients such as: Douglas McCormick Dance; Bolshy; Tmesis Theatre Company; Action Transport Theatre; Getintothis; The Science Of The Lamps; City of Liverpool College Musical Theatre Group; The Health & Safety Executive [HSE]; Black History Month Group; Fortis Media & Diverse Magazine as well as individual clients.

I also regularly photograph abstract imagery and everyday objects. I was recently the only female photographer to have a photograph shortlisted in the professional category of Hidden Liverpool’s ‘People’s City’ photographic exhibition.

Fine ArtI produce figurative still-life drawings and paintings using a variety of media including pencil, pen, ink, charcoal, chalks, pastels and paints. I often produce Indian ink and painted drawings as a starting point for my paintings.Recently, I developed my ink and watercolour drawings to produce storyboard illustrative paintings and drawings.

As with my personal photography, my focus is on everyday objects and things that people may not necessarily notice. With all of my work, I have a tendency towards, and am heavily influenced by, the kitchen-sink school of art [a term coined to describe painters who depict social realist–type scenes of domestic life] as well as by illustrations by Quentin Blake. For the storyboard illustrations the ideas behind my work have stemmed from my own life and experiences making them semi-autobiographical.

My paintings, which I would loosely describe as being abstract realism works, are developed from areas of my ink and watercolour drawings. I take elements of my finished drawings and then create one or even several paintings from those drawings. I choose an area of the drawing that I think would create a successful painting and then I loosely paint everything I have drawn onto the canvas. When doing so, I try to incorporate the spontaneity of the original drawing. The piece is then finished off with exacting precision using bold bright colour, surrounded by fluid black outlines and large areas of white.

I am currently working on commissions for several private clients. Prints and greetings cards are available of all of my paintings, photographs, drawings and illustrations.

MusicI am a self-taught singer/songwriter. I play gigs in and around Liverpool. I have also performed in America, Italy, North Wales and Cardiff. I play my own original music and also play cover songs.

I am a founding member and lead singer of Moxie. We are ‘a group of experienced, multidimensional musicians with a raw folk-punk sound and biting lyrics skilfully blended with beautiful harmonies’. We are currently recording our debut EP and album. ‘Moxie’ means: ‘Force of character, determination or nerve’.

In 2015 we were selected for Glastonbury Festival’s Emerging Talent Competition’s Longlist; where 120 acts were chosen from 1000’s who entered. Clash Magazine selected our song ‘Ten Years’ for its: ‘skilfully executed, folk-derived songwriting’.

I sing backing vocals with The Science of the Lamps. Last year we went on tour twice; most recently alongside Moulettes and The Slytones.

I am a member of Sense of Sound singers and have been performing with them since early 2005. We have performed/taken part in the following events: Migration Music at The Everyman with Shlomo; Star Wars in concert at the Echo Arena; Russell Watson’s UK tour; Paco Pena in Requiem For The Earth; Syd Barret Tribute gig at The Barbican with Pink Floyd, Damon Albarn, David Coulter, Chrissy Hynde and Thea Gilmore; Plague Songs at The Barbican with Damon Albarn, David Coulter; Rufus Wainwright, Patrick Wolf, Kenny Anderson [King Creosote] and Imogen Heap; Finalists of BBC1’s Last Choir Standing [2008]; Songs of Praise; Liverpool The Musical at The Echo Arena alongside The Farm, Garry Christian, Dave Stewart and Ringo Starr; The Royal Variety Performance alongside Seal and Jon Bon Jovi; BB3‘s Liverpool Nativity; Finalists of BBC radio 3 choir of the year [2006]; Olympic torch relay in Liverpool; Brouhaha festival; 5 Minutes To Midnight: Greenpeace anti-trident campaign with Damon Albarn.

ExhibitionsI am one of the Co-Curators and organisers of the Visual Arts Programme for Threshold Festival, having assisted with the organisation, curation and marketing of the visual arts since the festival was founded in 2011. I regularly meet and work with a whole range of local, national and international artists.

I recently curated a well-received exhibition with Liverpool Mental Health Consortium for World Mental Health Day at Baltic Creative where almost twenty artists were given the opportunity to showcase their work.

For over ten years, I jointly managed HeadSpace who organise all of the exhibitions at The Egg Cafe in Liverpool. I have jointly organised over one hundred exhibitions in total, working with hundreds of artists in the process.

Organising exhibitions entails the following: Installing and promoting exhibitions; Finding, encouraging and recruiting new artists for shows; Designing promotional material and website; Social media and marketing; Organising opening nights and private views; And Sales/dealing with customers.

Page 7: Jazamin Sinclair: Curriculum Vitae

DesignI have provided design services for: Liverpool Mental Health Consortium; LWC Drinks LTD; The Health and Safety Executive [HSE]; St. Michael’s Church of England High School; Sense of Sound; Tuebrook Transnational CIC.I have successfully been responsible for the design of the publicity and marketing for various projects and companies including creating: Leaflets; Posters; And Social networking.

I have provided print-ready PDF files and liaised directly with printing companies. Deadlines for projects are often tight and funding sometimes limited. I meet with clients to quickly decide and realise unique designs.

I worked freelance for The Health and Safety Executive [HSE] as part of their major conversion of all of HSE’s priced publications to make them freely available online. Most of their HSG and Legal titles have now been converted to web-friendly PDF files with a high proportion of accessible content. I was instructed to produce each document using specifically designed templates provided by HSE in order that they were accessible. It was part of the brief to follow a strict methodology, and to work within HSE’s existing branding guidelines. An example of a priced publication that I have converted is: HSG253.

WorkshopsI have been running workshops for over ten years. I have facilitated workshops in the following areas: Visual arts; Photography & Photoshop techniques; Canvas making; And Music. I can work with any age from 2years+.

In 2012, I was commissioned by Merseytravel and dot-art to facilitate art workshops with young people at Calder Kids Adventure Playground [a venue specifically opened for children and young people with disabilities aged 5-19 years]. I successfully implemented these workshops over the course of 3 days and the children created hundreds of colourful images. They explored materials and created their own unique artwork mixing paint, glue, glitter and collage. When running the workshops I encouraged freedom to play and explore materials without being too restrictive about what the children could use or do. This made the process accessible for everyone, encouraged the children’s creativity and independence and gave them confidence in what they were doing. The final outcome was of a high-standard because they enjoyed the process. I photographed the artwork that was created and collated the images into print-ready digital files. Merseytravel had these printed and they are now displayed at Mossley Hill train station.

I was also a writer, performer and an art / music workshop facilitator in early years settings as part of a jointly owned organisation Melodycrayons. In 2010 we toured our Picnic Adventure around schools, nurseries and Surestart centres across Cheshire and Merseyside with the Mini Network. Our performances and workshops engaged, educated and entertained the children and covered the areas of the Learning and Development Requirements as set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

I have worked with the following schools, children’s centres, venues and companies amongst others:Calder Kids Adventure Playground; Dot-art; Merseytravel; Threshold Festival CIC; Edge Hill Youth Centre; Archbishop Blanch School; Cledford Primary School; Farndon Primary School; Rebecca’s Day Nursery; Nantwich Children’s Centre; The Oaks Primary Community School; Ash Grove Children’s Centre; Oakenclough Children’s Centre; Victoria Road Children’s Centre; Roscoe Junior School; Delfina Women Ltd.; Delfina Projects Ltd.; AndCatalyst Creative Arts.
