Monday: We started off the worst day of the year with a talk about our upcoming trip to Camp Masson. We learned that there will be a huge packet coming home for us and the parents that will describe everything we need to know. Just after that we read about ways of preventing beach erosion so we could choose one to put in our projects. As soon as we were done reading, we got to work on those projects and this time if you didn’t finish in class you had to work with your partner outside of class. I think we all can’t wait to see everybody's! 

 Tuesday: We were all extremely excited for what was to 

come in class! What was to come in class you say? Mrs. Mendrala was waiting for us with IPads but that wasn’t even the best part because we started STEM! We had started to set up our accounts but before we could we had to go over rules so we would not mess anything up though once we got in some things with our profiles would not save. Even if our profile pictures 

wouldn’t save we still had a lot of fun making them!

 

Wednesday: To start out hump day we started by saying our claims on why beaches experience tides. This would bring us to writing everything we know about tides. Next we would watch videos of last years students explaining their claims on why there 

are tides which would end the class for this day. Overall on this day we had laughs and lots of fun! 

 Thursday:  This day wasn't the most fun day but we learned 

a lot. The whole time we took notes on the true reason there are tides. This reason was because the moon pulls the water and Earth a little bit. Though there is a the sun also pulling causing more than just low tide and high tide. That was a day of learning.

  Friday: For the last day of the week we talked about our 

favorite subject Camp Masson. We received a packet with all the information about Camp Masson which our parents had to go through as well as us. In the packet it explained about health and emergency contacts. Along with that we went over a daily routine for the camp with what we need to bring. One of the activities I am really looking forward to is survival where you could make a fire, 

shelter, or learn poisonous and nonpoisonous plants. Also we will be attending the camp on March 22 ­ March 24. 

  

Enrico Fermi: Enrico Fermi was born in Rome on 29th of September, 1901. Enrico Fermi was an Italian physicist, who created the world's first nuclear reaction, the Chicago Pile­1. He has been called the "architect of the nuclear age", and the "architect of the atomic bomb". He excelled in both theoretical and experimental things. In 1938 Fermi was awarded the Nobel Prize for physics on induced radioactivity by neutron bombardment and the discovery of transuranic elements. Fermi contributed to quantum theory, nuclear and particle physics, and statistical mechanics. At the age of 53 on November 28, 1954. 

  

The Green Sea Turtle Stopped From Extinction 15 Years ago the Green Sea Turtle was put on the 

endangered species list. These vegetarians only had 200 counted nests 15 years ago and now have over 14000 counted nests in the past year. Many things had to do wit the reason why they almost went extinct like fishing, human development, and predators. Thanks to the protection of this species they are now off the endangered species list and are now just threatened. 

 

Summary: Overall this week we learned the actual reason of why currents appear, Camp Masson, and the new STEM program we are doing this year.
