“ The Javits Center looks, feels and operates better than ever before, and as a result, we are busier than ever before.” —Alan Steel, President & CEO
THE CONVENTION CENTER OF THE FUTURE IS HERE.
AN INFRASTRUCTURE WIRED FOR INNOVATION
Operated by the New York
Convention Center Operating
Corporation (NYCCOC), the Javits
Center is much more than a build-
ing. It’s a place where business
thrives. Where ideas come alive.
And where the future debuts.
A recent renovation has trans-
formed the New York State-run
building into a world-class facility,
including state-of-the-art mechan-
ical, technology and security sys-
tems that make it easier to organize
and manage any event—of any size.
Just consider the facility’s new High
Density WiFi system—one that’s
specifically designed for reliabili-
ty and ease of access. At the 2.1
million square-foot building, you’ll
find more than 700 unique access
points across the interior and exteri-
or areas.
From the moment its doors opened in 1986, the Javits Center has offered a glimpse of new possibilities.
The system provides WiFi access
to more than 70,000 users at a
time—more than sold-out crowds
at any arena in New York City. And
our cutting-edge antenna system
optimizes cell phone coverage for
AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile
customers. Fiber optic wiring has
also been installed throughout the
building to deliver high-speed inter-
net connections for our customers
who depend on the Javits Center to
conduct millions of dollars worth of
business each year.
J A V I T S C E N T E R4
A revitalized Javits Center has led to a surge in attendance among our most popular events—with some event managers reporting up to a 26% increase in attendees. New amenities include new food courts, new seating areas and renovated restrooms.
Need an ATM? Or transportation
services? What if you want to create
a banner or put together a last-min-
ute press kit? From a FedEx Office
to the American Express OPEN®
Business Lounge, you’ll never have
to stray far from the show floor to
find what you’re looking for. And vis-
itors can now enjoy a host of new
amenities, such as new food courts,
new seating areas and a Taste NY
store featuring the state’s agricul-
tural products. It’s just another sign
of our commitment to making the
entire Javits Center experience re-
warding for hosts and attendees.
CUSTOMERS: THE CENTER OF ATTENTION
The Javits Center’s 5-year, $463
million renovation and expansion
greatly enhanced the facility’s
aesthetics, sustainability and overall
efficiency. Yet the transformation
of the Javits Center didn’t stop with
the physical structure. A new, revi-
talized culture of customer service
was implemented across all depart-
ments. Now more than ever, we’re
putting the needs of customers first
with new employees and a greater
emphasis on training. It’s all about
finding the right solutions. Every
time. And it’s a state of mind that
resonates from every corner of the
facility. In fact, we only had to look
as far as the show floor to see that
our customer-centric philosophy
was paying off: some of our recent
events have experienced a surge in
attendance that shattered previous
records—by as much as 26%.
New mechanical systems have
improved the indoor air quality,
reduced ambient noise and signifi-
cantly saved on energy consump-
tion. Plus, the building now features
an upgraded, high-efficiency HVAC
system, along with an energy dash-
board that monitors air tempera-
tures from a single station. Around
here, it’s easy to see how infra-
structure and innovation go hand in
hand.
ADVANCED AMENITIES FOR THE 21ST-CENTURY
No matter what brings you here,
whether it’s a trade show, fundrais-
ing gala, or conference, you’ll find
convenience around every corner.

EXPERTISE IS OUR EDGE
At the Javits Center, making your
event extraordinary means provid-
ing the perfect balance of space
and services. And no one works
together as seamlessly to achieve
this balance as our elite teams of
professionals. It not only requires a
special set of technical skills, but a
mastery of communication and co-
ordination. Thanks to the dedication
of our 4,000 employees, from event
solutions managers to electricians,
we’ve organized and constructed
some of the largest trade shows in
the world and helped launch some
of the best known brands in history.
From Russian to Italian to Urdu, our
expert employees speak more than
a dozen languages, allowing us to
properly support and strengthen the
work of businesses from around the
world. And our staff is the primary
reason why nearly 40,000 compa-
nies exhibit here each year.
SECURING YOUR EVENT
Unveiling the world’s latest products
and services requires world-class
security. And the Javits Center has
made that a priority—by installing a
building-wide closed-circuit cam-
era system that monitors all of our
critical spaces, 24 hours a day. With
this system in place, event manag-
ers and exhibitors can now order
camera services in order to monitor
the activity of their exhibit from a
remote location via a mobile app.

EXTENDING YOUR REACH: THE 7 TRAIN
No convention facility connects
you with New York like the Javits
Center. And now, getting here is
easier than ever. That’s because
September 2015 saw the com-
pletion of the new 7 Subway line
extension and the opening of the
34th Street-Hudson Yards station
across from the Javits Center. Now,
New Yorkers and visitors alike are
only a turnstile-spin away from the
center of the city’s most dynamic—
and desirable—new neighborhood.
The new station is the first addition
to the subway system in 26 years—
with more modern amenities than
any other station in New York City.
The state-of-the-art station—125 feet
below street level—has the widest
platform of any station in the sys-
tem, as well as digital advertising
opportunities, air-tempered controls
and two inclined elevators. The 1.5-
mile extension of the 7 Line con-
nects the Javits Center to all parts of
the City’s subway system, including
Times Square—which is now only
four minutes away.
Everything you love about the city is closer than you think.
WELCOME TO MANHATTAN’S HOTTEST NEW NEIGHBORHOOD
When you book your event here,
not only will you get breathtaking
views of the Hudson River, but you’ll
have a front-row seat to the dra-
matic revitalization of Manhattan’s
West Side neighborhood. To see it
for yourself, look no further than the
fast-rising, 28-acre Hudson Yards
development, scenic Hudson River
Park and the High Line—an elevat-
ed freight rail line reimagined into
a 1.45-mile landscaped public park.
In surroundings like these, there’s
little doubt that the Javits Center
represents the most dazzling indus-
try showcase in New York’s most
dynamic new neighborhood.

THE MEDIA CAPITAL OF THE WORLD IS HERE
There is no place on the planet that
is home to more media outlets than
New York City. With thousands of
reporters and photographers min-
utes away from the Javits Center,
any product or service unveiled
here can easily be seen around the
world in a matter of seconds. Our
staff has established long-standing
relationships with the major media
networks, and knowing how to help
them get the right shot or the best
quote has benefited our customers
for decades.
The Javits Center also has upgraded
its own communications, launching
a new website with exciting new
photo and video galleries, a new
customer newsletter and five so-
cial media networks—all designed
to support our customers’ efforts
and promote their brands as well as
ours.
EXPERIENCE ALL THE FLAVOR OF NEW YORK, RIGHT HERE
If you’re looking for a quick bite, but
craving the kind of cuisine that can
only be found in the culinary cap-
ital of New York, the Javits Center
has you covered with its new Mar-
ketplace. Located in the Crystal
Palace—the 15-story steel-and-glass
grand entrance to the Javits Cen-
ter—the Marketplace is a state-of-
the-art food court that specializes
in locally sourced food prepared by
celebrated New York chefs Dave
Pasternak, Roberto Santibañez and
Richard Landau.
In conjunction with our caterer,
Centerplate, the Javits Center offers
mouth-watering menus inspired by
the products and diversity of the
New York region, whether you’re
The new Hudson Yards-34th Street subway station is expected to serve 32,000 riders a day, including our attendees who can now easily explore all parts of New York City. A subway ride on the 7 Line to Grand Central Station only takes seven minutes.
NEXT STOP: WORLD-CLASS SHOPPING, SIGHTSEEING & MORE
Before or after your event, board
the 7 train at West 34th Street and
11th Avenue and transport yourself
to the best sightseeing and shop-
ping the city has to offer, along with
thousands of fine restaurants and
luxury hotels. From the Art Deco
splendor of the Empire State Build-
ing, Chrysler Building and Rocke-
feller Center to the grandeur of
Grand Central Terminal, Midtown
Manhattan gives you an authen-
tic—and unforgettable—taste of the
Big Apple. Plus, there’s no substi-
tute for a trip to one of New York’s
famous flagship department stores
like Macy’s or Bergdorf Goodman,
or its dozens of designer boutiques
and well-known chains. And when
it comes to satisfying any craving,
whether it’s a hand-rolled bagel,
Brazilian churrascaria or Southern
barbeque, you’ll find a menu to
match. Ready to call it a night? Take
your pick from an array of hotels,
including storied names like the

looking for tasty snacks or made-to-
order meals. Centerplate is a mem-
ber of the Pride of New York pro-
gram, created by Governor Andrew
M. Cuomo to promote the sale of
agricultural products grown in the
Empire State, along with food prod-
ucts processed here. And thanks to
a partnership with New York-based
luxury caterer Sonnier & Castle, we
can service a wide spectrum of cor-
porate events, intimate gatherings
and social functions.
Inside our magnificent Crystal Pal-
ace on 11th Avenue, Starbucks has
unveiled a second store that is open
to the public during events and
move-in and move-out periods. And
on Level 2, the original Starbucks
remains open during events and
continues to be one of the most
popular retail establishments in the
building.
INTRODUCING MARKET EXPRESS: ONLINE CATERING AND DELIVERY

crowd at your booth, the last thing
you want to do is leave the show
floor. Now you can order meals
from your mobile device for delivery

Market Express. No matter where
you are in the Javits Center, this
new on-demand, web-based ser-
vice lets you choose from a variety

“ We are transforming one of our largest convention centers into an unparalleled, world-class venue.” —Governor Andrew M. Cuomo
BUILT TO LEAD
With the announcement of the
Javits Center’s planned expansion
at the north end of the six-block
campus, everything that our cus-
tomers, vendors and staff value
about the facility is about to be
realized on a much larger and
wholly unprecedented scale. The
expansion’s sweeping changes will
effectively create a new Javits Cen-
ter—one that is destined to make a
leap to the top tier of the world’s
convention centers. Unveiled by
Governor Cuomo in January 2016,
the dynamic addition of 1.2 million
square feet is designed to build on
the Javits Center’s unrivaled success
as the busiest convention center in
the nation.
New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has announced a $1 billion redevelopment project that’s set to remake the Javits Center into an even more exciting, sought-after icon for global business.
GROWTH OPPORTUNITY
The most visible—and stunning—
hallmark of the Javits Center’s trans-
formation will be the vast increase
in the venue’s event-related space
available to customers. This means
a fivefold gain in meeting room
area, providing business executives
with the right amount of space for
their most important deals. Con-
tained within this new footprint will

FASTER, SAFER TRUCK MARSHALING
The move-in and move-out period
for each event is a major operation
that demands seasoned proficiency
and meticulous coordination. Each
year, roughly 20,000 trucks deliver
and retrieve materials for our events,
and these vehicles are forced to
park on surrounding streets and
in a nearby marshaling yard. The
Javits Center’s expansion calls for a
4-level, 480,000 square-foot truck
marshaling facility on site that will
house more than 200 tractor-trailer
trucks at a time and include 27 new
loading docks, resulting in a 50% re-
duction in truck trips. Reducing the
time required to move events in and
out of the building will create more
time for even more events at the
Javits Center. Not only will this new
marshaling operation improve traffic
flow, but fewer trucks on city streets
means an increase in pedestrian
safety and a healthier environment
for the new Hudson Yards neighbor-
hood for which the Javits Center is
a vital anchor.
be a phenomenal, ultra-modern
58,000 square-foot ballroom, the
largest such space in the Northeast.
A new permanent exhibition hall
also will be added to the existing
structure, creating 500,000 square
feet of contiguous exhibition space
on Level 3—an impressive indus-
try benchmark that will enable the
Javits Center to host a wider array
of meetings and events than ever
before, while enhancing its over-
all competitiveness on the global
stage.
This expansion project is expected to attract at least 15 new events to New York, generating 6,000 permanent jobs, 200,000 hotel room nights a year and an additional $400 million in annual economic activity.
J A V I T S C E N T E R
THE EXPANSION PROJECT WILL CREATE
500,000SQUARE FEET OF EXHIBITION SPACE ON ONE LEVEL
MODERNIZED IN MANHATTAN
Adding to the list of new features
under this expansion project is
113,000 square feet of new
pre-function space that our custom-
ers will be able to enjoy during
their events. With floor-to-ceiling
windows, attendees will be able to
gaze at the New York City skyline,
as well as our award-winning green
roof—the second largest of its kind
in the country. Equipped with an
open layout and state-of-the-art
materials, this unique space will
enable business executives to
connect with New York City unlike
any other time in the building’s
history. We plan to continue our
sustainable efforts in the expansion
project, seeking LEED Silver certifi-
cation for the upcoming expansion.
TOPPING IT ALL OFF: THE TERRACE ON THE HUDSON
Our green roof is many things: a
sanctuary for birds, bats and bees, a
horticultural paradise and an ener-
gy-saving feat of engineering. How
can we possibly top that? By adding
a new rooftop terrace with incred-
ible views of the Hudson River—a
picture-perfect setting that can
accommodate up to 1,500 guests
in the new heart of Midtown Man-
hattan. The Terrace on the Hudson
promises to offer a memorable
backdrop that dramatically diversi-
fies the types of events the Javits
Center can host.

OUR COMMUNITY COMMITMENT.
15J A V I T S C E N T E R
GREENING GOTHAM
At the Javits Center, our commit-
ment to the community means go-
ing green. The facility’s sustainability
initiatives—from its glass-encased
façade and nearly 7-acre green roof
to its advanced recycling practices—
not only conserve energy, but also
set the industry standard.
As a part of our recent renova-
tion, we installed more than 100
energy-efficient HVAC units, new
energy-efficient lighting and new
recycling containers throughout the
facility. In fact, we’ve achieved LEED
Silver certification from the U.S.
Green Building Council and earned
honors from the New York State De-
partment of Environmental Conser-
vation, New York City Audubon and
the Building Owners and Managers
Association of Greater New York.
We’re proud to say we’re meeting
our goal of exceeding New York
State’s mandate of reducing energy
and water consumption by 20% by
the year 2020—and reducing office

waste by more than the required

Our green roof—the largest in the
Northeast—has become a habitat for
more than 15 bird species, serving
as a wildlife oasis in an environment
dominated by concrete and steel.
Even our new pixelated glass panels
are bird-friendly, reducing bird colli-
sions by 90% since installation.
Using a state-of-the-art energy dash-
board, we’re also working with event
organizers to track the energy con-
sumption of their events in an effort
to further increase sustainability.

AN ENGINE OF COMMERCE & OPPORTUNITY
As an international hub of com-
merce, the Javits Center has be-
come a critical part of the local
economy. This New York icon and
its events generate thousands of
jobs and up to $1.8 billion in annu-
al economic activity for New York
State and New York City. Over the
years, we have strengthened New
York’s businesses by hosting spec-
tacular events that attract millions
of visitors who support the region’s
hotel, restaurant, tourism and trans-
portation industries. With all of this
activity, the Javits Center continues
to be the only major convention
center in the country that does not
rely on taxpayer funds for its daily
operations.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH & SUPPORT
In addition to our mission to boost
local businesses, we’re also explor-
ing new ways to work with commu-
nity organizations, including those
involving composting programs
and food donations. One of our
most satisfying initiatives is Javits
Juniors—a free program designed to
educate local students about oper-
ations at the Javits Center and the
building’s critical importance to the
New York economy. We also work
with event organizers to provide
donations of goods to local schools
and non-profit organizations before,
during and after an event. When
it comes to providing communi-
ty support, we always feel right at
home.
Sustainable upgrades at the Javits Center have led to a 26% reduction in energy consumption. That includes the installation of a state-of-the-art energy dashboard that allows engineers to monitor consumption levels from a single station.
