Welcome back to school and to a new year! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing break. The students are already in “full

swing” for the second half of the school year. This next half of the school year is crical for the children and their overall academic

progress. Over the course of the spring months, state assessments will be administered. With this in mind, it is imperave that

children arrive to school on me and that they aend school daily. Please plan doctor and denst appointments before and

a"er school. We sincerely appreciate the efforts you have made as our daily tardy numbers have decreased.

With the cooler weather brings increased acvity outside which is always a welcome change from the hot summers. It’s also a

good reminder to all of us to be careful and vigilant as we are driving through the neighborhoods as children are more apt to be

out and about on bikes, scooters and skateboards. Keep a watchful eye and remember to slow down in and around the school and

surrounding neighborhoods so we can work together to keep all our students safe.

Speaking of safety, I wanted to highlight a variety of the measures we have in place at Hull to ensure that every student is kept safe

and secure.

• All exterior doors and gates are locked during school hours. Parents can only access the campus from the front door.

• All volunteers are required to sign in at the front office, and wear a visitor scker.

• We conduct monthly fire drills at varying mes each month to ensure that procedures for exing the building are followed.

The Chandler Fire Department is present during one drill each semester to provide feedback on our procedures. The Fire Mar-

shall also conducts school and classroom inspecons.

• We conduct five lockdown drills per year. These drills assess the procedures for securing the building, in the event there was

an outside threat to the school.

• We have an Emergency Response Plan that is reviewed with the staff in the event we have to evacuate the building and stage

students and staff at an alternave se4ng.

• Hull Elementary is assigned a district safety officer that is visible each day and available to assist with student needs, traffic

issues, and possible safety challenges.

• Finally, duty teachers are placed at all areas where student interacon is at its highest providing supervision and support when

and if needed. Crossing guards also provide another layer of supervision throughout the exterior points of our campus.

With assistance and vigilance from everyone (parents, students, staff) we are able to provide a safe and secure environment for

each and every child.

Thanks for your connued support!

Jane Dee Hull Elementary Journey 2020 Acon Plan

In alignment with the Chandler Unified School District Journey 2020 plan,

all schools have created an acon plan to work towards school improve-

ment in one academic area. A Datawise Team has been established at

each site to oversee the process and lead the staff in making data-driven

decisions. A"er analyzing our school AIMS data our Datawise Team made

a decision, along with staff input, to focus on the content area of Math.

At Hull, we are commi;ed to providing our students with top quality in-

strucon, along with current strategies and resources to help them excel.

We will be monitoring our student’s progress through monthly assess-

ments and making adjustments to our instruconal pracces. Our Jour-

ney 2020 Acon Plan can be viewed on our school website at
