    2015 was

    overall a great

    year and holi-

    day season for

    our business-

    es. The Merchants committee

worked hard from July in planning

    and organizing events throughout

the season. Thank you to Jacy

    Stolem, Merchants president and

Avery Sorenson, VP for all their extra

    effort!

During our Monday Late Night Open-

ings, we had everything from Key

Club wrapping gifts, to churches and

clubs donating snacks, to Santa, sto-

ries, carolers, and bell choirs. All of

these fun activities, to support and

encourage shoppers to first think of

our local businesses for their holiday

    needs.

The Scrip program this year was up10% over last year! Many folks took

advantage of this program, and kept

    their money local!

We were thrilled to see that over

$12,000 in Dino Dollars went out to

the community, in the month of De-

cember alone! That is a huge boostto our local economy.

    Congratulations to our Chamber But-

    ton Drawing winners, Sharon Young,

    David Rummel and Jan Kirkwood.

Each received a $300 prize pack of

Dino Dollars and Gift Certificates to

    our local shops.

Business After Hours closed out2015 at Promises. Danni Hill and herstaff went all out this year, with deco-rations inside and out, hot chocolate,

spa wraps, and specials to set themood for their night at the Spa! Itwas a great night to get away fromthe hustle and bustle of the holidays, pamper yourself a bit and check outsome of the more unique gifts availa-ble in town!

Promises also won the Chambersstore decorating contest! Their storewas incredibly festive and reallybrightened your mood, when you ar-rived!

Danni said, We typically start deco-rating for Holidays on or before La-bor Day.

Last year we started on Aug 23rd.

EVERY single display in our 3,600square feet of floor space is mer-chandised with lights, material, tissueor Christmas floral. In 2015 we had

5 themed trees in the store, plus

adouble layer of lights around the en-tire store inside. Outside consistedof 2 lighted wreathes on the porchposts, a lighted angel, lamp post, cross and door wreathe as well asice cycle lights around the store. WeLOVE sharing His light with thecommunity we live in. Thanks so

much for your vote of confidence aswe continue to build the retail com-munity in Phillips County.

Second place in our decorating con-test went to Family Matters, and thirdto The Closet. Each won a portionoff their 2016 Chamber Dues.

    2016THE YEAR TO SHOP LOCAL!

At the January Merchants Meeting, we approved a program to dedicate 2016 to a

    year-long Shop Local Campaign!

You hear quite a bit from us about Shopping Local, particularly around the holidays,

but without the effort of everyone in our community to make the choice to shop here

first all year long, we do not have the vibrant community that we all love.

Throughout the year, we plan to provide a multi-media campaign showing the bene-

fits and results of keeping your dollars here at home! We want to show you how

your money, spent locally, impacts our whole community and how integral it is to the

    success of our whole area.

We know that each time someone makes a purchase, they have the choice the

spend outside of our area. We want to persuade them, to stop, and try our local

    businesses first, to

    meet their needs!

    If you would like to

    participate on the

    committee for this

    program, please

    contact the Cham-

    ber office!

Triangle Communications is pleased to announce the following communities as recipients ofthe 2015-2016 Smart Rural Connected Community Challenge: Sweet Grass County, theTown of Big Sandy and the City of Malta/Malta Chamber of Commerce.

The selected communities and their Stakeholder Committees will work closely with AnneBoothe, Triangles Economic Development Specialist, to discuss technology assets in their

community and how they relate to various sectors of the local economy. The overall goal ofthe Challenge is to develop a simple, written Broadband Action Plan that includes prioritiesand strategies to enable economic development in their community through broadbandtechnologies. A $2500 incentive grant award will be made to all selected applicants to im-plement one or more of the items identified in their completed plan.

Broadband connectivity and being able to conduct business, agriculture, or run our homesefficiently and securely go hand in hand. We are fortunate in Malta and Phillips County tohave the high-speed connections in place to positively impact the way we run our business-es and lives, and use technology to its fullest. We are thrilled to be awarded this grant fromTriangle and to use it toward telling our areas story, says Dina Meneely, Malta Area Cham-ber of Commerce Secretary.

Our world is fast-paced and evert chang-

ing. Our lives are busy with work, family,

community and more! We need to keep

learning and expanding our skills if we

want to continue to be successful.

Sometimes its hard to find time in your

day to attend a training class, or find one

that meets your schedule. The Chamber

is helping you to solve that problem with

the launch of our Online Learning Catalog!

We looked through several vendors of

online courses and selected 20 courses

by four vendors that are focused on busi-ness topics. All of the courses are free.

The delivery of these courses varies, be-

cause each of us likes to learn in a differ-

ent way. You have the choice to listen to

a pod cast, watch a video or fully interact

    with an online course.

From each vendor, you can explore their

    other course offerings. We recommended

only a few, but you can feel free to take

any that you find. Let us know if you find

one that you think we should add to ourcatalog. If you have other you would like

to see included, please let us know.

This is a program for members only. You

should have received a link through email

to the course catalog. If not, please email

    us at [email protected].
