PUBLISHING INFORMATION
Let’s Write a Good One!Happy New Year to the Crestview Area
Chamber of Commerce! As one who enjoys Art Journaling, looking
at that first blank page sometimes is daunt-ing. But, you soon learn a blank page is full because you fill the page with yourself—your words, your goals, and your dreams. Just like each New Year’s Day, we turn over a new blank page of the first of a 365 Page Book—a New Year of Opportunities and Possibilities. So, paraphrasing Brad Paisley’s thoughts, Let’s
Write a Good One! And, so let’s talk about you as a member of The Crestview
Area Chamber of Commerce. Our Chamber is a volunteer association of the business community. It unites retail, indus-try and professionals, creating a central agency which works to improve the community. The Crestview Area Chamber has many unique opportunities and possibilities to offer its members, which include:
Publicity and Promotion through the Chamber Website, Business Directory, Newsletter
If you are looking to expand your online presence, then the Chamber of Commerce is the most powerful, cost-effective broadcasting tool you can possibly find anywhere! Increase your visibility in the community. As a member of the chamber of com-merce, you will be listed in the chamber newsletter, e-newsletter, on Facebook and have the opportunity to be highlighted in other chamber publications.
Ground Breakings and Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Celebrations
Chamber events and programs provide members with great opportunities to get to know new people and expand their pros-pect base. Chamber events are innovative and fun ways to help members meet potential customers, clients and vendors— and generate new business leads.
Involvement in Community Events and Sponsorship Opportunities
12th Annual Triple B 2016The Annual Hackers Holiday Golf Tournament
2016 Annual Installation & Awards Banquet9th Annual Community Health Fair
Business ReferralsAs a Chamber member you become part of a vibrant group of
businesses with the advantage of a local referral network. Acquire customer referrals. Every day, your local chamber receives calls from individuals and businesses looking for potential vendors, and chamber members typically recommend chamber members. Access to members-only discounts and services.
Networking Opportunities including Business After Hours, Special Events and Committees
Chambers have numerous committees and serving on one of them provides numerous networking opportunities as well as professional leadership development. You can build your business while promoting developments of keen interest to local businesses and the community at large.
County-wide Educational OpportunitiesAs a Chamber member you gain immediate access to the one
of most trusted source for local Information.
As you start your Book, I hope you include some (or all) of the above thoughts on the blank pages of your 365 Page Book for 2016. And, I hope you will join us at the Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce as we begin a New Year of Opportunities and Possibilities.
Together, LET’S WRITE A GOOD ONE!

What vision do you have created in your mind for where you want to be in business, life, relationships? What are your goals? Like everyone else I will set my New Year’s resolutions and by February they will take a backseat to the more pressing issues of life. Isn’t that how it always works? It seems that way not only with personal resolutions/goals but in business as well. We can get bogged down with the day to day operations that we forget about the business goal we have set. Those are just as important as personal goals.
As you set your business goals for 2016 don’t forget that the Chamber as a great “in house” resource for you. Tom Hermanson of the UWF Small Business Development Center maintains an office at the Chamber building and his services are FREE! If you are struggling with a business plan, financial plan, or just where to start, Tom is an absolute FREE resource for you. All of Tom’s contact information can be found on the Chamber website in the member directory.
Speaking of the Chamber website, have you logged into YOUR account yet? Yes, I said ….you can log in to your account! Did you know that you can manage your Chamber contact info yourself? What better way to start 2016 with a quick clean
up and adding all the FREE info to your contact info in the Membership Directory. The best example that I have found on a business that is taking FULL advantage
of the Chamber website is Yvonne Shanklin at Edwards Jones. If you get a chance this month, look her up in the membership directory. I think she is a great example of what your page could look like.
In closing, I hope that you are excited about 2016! I encourage you to get out there visit a business that you have never visited before, make a new friend, have lunch with old friends. Don’t put those resolutions/goals in the backseat buckled up until the right time comes along. Go forward with JOY in your heart, singing and dancing knowing that 2016 is YOUR year.

Is 2016 “Your” Year?
Getting ready to shop for a home?Buying a home can be as exciting as it is overwhelming, but the more information
you have, the better off you’ll be. Here are some helpful steps to take before you start looking for your dream home:
• Review your credit. Credit scores, credit history, and debt to income ratios are important aspects of a mortgage approval. Several credit related items to avoid before applying for a mortgage loan include taking out other loans, adding any additional credit card debt, and making late payments. Some other things to avoid are making large purchases that deplete your bank accounts, and quitting your job.
• Develop a budget and determine a spending plan that will incorporate a new house payment, as well as help you to save for a down payment if needed. Some programs don’t require a down payment and others have down payments as little as three percent for first time homebuyers.
• Contact one of our loan officers for a prequalification. A prequalification is not a guarantee of loan approval; rather, it helps to determine how much you can afford to spend on a home based on your financial situation.
• Gather all necessary documents required by your lender in order to verify identity, income, assets and debts.
• Choose a real estate agent. Real estate agents are extremely important in the home buying process. They know the local market and community, and can show you properties you may be interested in. They will also assist you in making an offer and drawing up a purchase contract.
Follow these simple steps and you could be well on your way to home ownership.
Beach Community Mortgage is a locally owned and operated company. Our top priority is to provide excellent service to our customers, while making your home buying experience as smooth and memorable as possible. Together, we can bring your home buying dreams to life!

A WORD FROM OUR SPONSORFord Motor Company was founded in 1903 by
innovation, innovators change things. They take new
ideas, develop and promote them until they become
an accepted part of daily life. Innovation requires self-
confidence, risk taking, leadership ability and a vision
of what the future can be.
Henry Ford did not invent the automobile nor
the assembly line, but, more than anyone, he was
responsible for transforming the automobile from an
invention of unknown utility into an innovation that
greatly shaped the 20th century and continues to affect
our lives today.
Ford Motor Company is one of the most recognizable
and profitable companies in the world. What you may
not know is that its also that world’s largest family-
controlled company for over 110 years now. These
are many of the same qualities mirrored by Hub City
Ford and its owner, Leon Daggs Jr. Continuing to
build upon a family legacy started in the automobile
industry over 40 years ago, Hub City Ford is now
poised to begin its third decade serving the Emerald
Coast.
The first dealership in this area to see the potential
of a greater Crestview, Hub City Ford started the
southern migration of businesses (south of I-10) in this
town, breaking ground on the stores’ third home in
1990. Fully staffed and at capacity, our current facility
has seen unbelievable growth and were ready to expand
yet again!
Deeply tied into community growth, we play an
active role in the Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce
as well as many others groups, organizations, an
initiatives. We welcome Crestview’s continued growth
and the challenges that come along with progress, Hub
City Ford stands at the forefront ready to serve.

Are you interested in becoming involved with an organization that is dedicated to supporting the local community in many different ways? This involvement includes, but is not limited to, support of our young people in the school setting by recognizing those who bring up their grades through the Bring Up Grades Program, an annual presentation of a scholarship in the name of our organization, encouraging leadership skills through our Key Club Program, involvement in the local United Way’s Day or Caring, and promotion of the Eliminate Program which targets the elimination of tetanus. In addition to that, we get involved in local projects that promote our community. Our current, long range, project is the revitalization of the McMahon Environmental Center. In addition to all of this, we meet once a week for lunch to not only plan our projects, but to engage in good old social interaction, conversation, and education. The education takes place by our almost weekly guest speaker program, with such speakers as our Sheriff, our County Commissioners, our Crestview City Officials, or Charity and Business Owners who have good information to share. Our organization is
celebrating our 100th year as an international organization and your local chapter here in Crestview is always looking for new members to help us in our endeavors. Membership is available either as a business sponsorship or an individual sponsorship. There is no obligation to come by and check us out any Wednesday at noon at Samuel’s Roadhouse on John King Road. If you desire more information, contact us at [email protected].
