ROCKLAND COUNTY (NY) BRANCH
Advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research
FACETS January 2020
President’s Message Happy New Year! This year we celebrate 100 years of enjoying and exercising
women’s right to vote and 100 years of AAUW working for equity for women and
girls. As a result of these significant milestones, AAUW-NYS is planning a
celebration to honor what has been accomplished throughout these 100 years. As
such, we are asking all members of the Rockland Branch to bring forward any
materials in your possession that pertain to our branch’s history. These items will
be used to provide historical relevance and documentation of our branch’s
activities during these 100 years. All AAUW-NYS branches have been asked to do
this and we’d like to be sure that our collection adequately reflects the important
work that the Rockland Branch has done throughout the years. Please note the
Archive Adventure scheduled for January 4. Sylvia Miller’s basement has many
treasured memorabilia. Join us for an afternoon of fellowship and re-discovery.
I would like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in the Barnes and Noble
gift-wrapping fundraiser for their time and assistance on December 23 and 24. We
raised $397 and had a very good time! The money raised supports our annual
engineering conference.
I look forward to celebrating this year with you as we acknowledge all that we
have accomplished during the past 100 years. I wish you all a healthy, happy and
peaceful New Year.
