JANUARY MONTHLY MEETING EVENT
Our January monthly meeting was very informative with guest
speakers from CME Federal Credit Union. Drew Boyer works in the
CME financial services. He spoke to members about planning for
retirement, how our pension works, investing in different
retirement program options, annuity choices and healthcare
insurance premiums along with some expected changes.
As an Investment Advisor Representative, Drew explained how his
company could help members select the best annuity choices of
Single Life Annuity (SLA) or Joint Survivor Annuity (JSA) at 50% or
100% to maximize their retirement income. Single Life Annuity
stops pension when the retiree dies. Joint Survivorship Annuity
allows pension to be paid to a spouse or dependent in the event of
the retiree’s death. Drew also talked about the Partial Lump Sum
Option Payment (PLOP) program offered by OPERS. This is another
way to supplement retirement income.
The CME Financial Services section works on referrals. It is free to
talk to one of the representatives and they will make arrangements
to meet with you at any one of the five CME branches.

Some good retirement tips Drew provided are:
Only take 4-5% from your investment accounts per year to
supplement your income after retirement.
If you take cash out it’s added to your income that year so you
pay more in taxes, it’s best to wait January the next year.
If you stay a few days into a month you may be covered on
insurance that whole month.
You can roll your final check over into a deferred comp account
up to $38,000.
Make sure you’re ready to only receive a monthly check versus
biweekly checks.

Leslie and Chapter,
Here is the "personalized" response to your question on my daily rituals!
For me, here are my key rituals:
1. Power Hour -- This is the first hour of my day, typically 0630-0730 every weekday. It is a quiet time that I use to meditate, read, and scan my calendar.
2. Physical Training (PT) -- I have three one-hour blocks on each weekly calendar (M, W, Fri). I move the blocks around some based on the week: Either in the morning (before my power hour), or at 5pm just after the work day.
3. Accountability Call -- Currently Tuesday and Friday morning just before work (0745), I take time for a call with an external "accountability partner" (Steve) that I met through a success seminar. We have similar interests and goals. We encourage each other and compare notes on each others progress on goals.
4. Weekly "Stand Up" -- This is a leftover military term for a relaxed (but planned) discussion with my wife Sunday mornings. We review the week ahead, coordinate calendars, and set tasks (like buying airlines tickets for fun trips!). Typically involves coffee.
These are my true "rituals." Beyond these, I have learned techniques for setting up my calendar each week (from David Allen) that creates a predictable weekly rhythm and momentum. That's a subject for another time.
Have a great weekend!
Scott
The Next Webinar will be February 21, 2019 12:00pm & 3:00pm
EDT on “How to Ramp Up Employee Engagement.”
How connected are you with your employees? Do they KNOW they
are appreciated? Do you make it your job to "catch them doing
something right"? After all, that which is recognized is usually re-
peated! Keep the energy going ... bring out the passion in people ...
build a true CULTURE of engagement!
