Note: Any programs or activities may be cancelled or rescheduled due to inclement weather and/or lack of pre-registrations. Please always call the

Senior Center for the most up-to-date information.

One of the easiest ways to increase your chance of achieving your New Year's Resolution is to share your goals with friends and family. Let us know

here at the Senior Center and we can encourage each other all together!

One of my goals last year was to improve and revitalize the programs we offer here at the Center, and I plan to continue that goal in 2018. We have many new programs coming soon, and I would love your suggestions and

ideas for activities as well.

There are many ways to make 2018 our best year, such as getting outside, staying active, listening to music every day, reading or listening to

inspirational messages, connecting with your faith, calling a friend, keeping a bright light in your house, starting a diary, exercising even if it’s just a little

walk, and remember if you need to talk I am always ready to listen.

Count your blessings and no matter what - enjoy the life that God has blessed you with.

Live for today, tomorrow is not promised to us.

Love & wishes for a Happy and Health 2018,

Rose

Message from the Director, Rose Swidan

Message from Mayor Burcroff

Happy New Year to all of you and your families. I sincerely wish for 2018 to be our happiest and healthiest year yet. I am encouraged by you and all of

our residents to continue striving and working hard not only in 2018 but through these next four years as your Mayor to bring more development and

new programs to Romulus.

The community Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration will be held at the High School auditorium on the 15th. Please join us for a free pancake breakfast

sponsored by the Romulus Rotary Club beginning at 8:00 a.m. followed by an inspirational program at 9:30 a.m. This is a great time to reflect on all of Dr.

King’s lessons, which ring so true today.

I hope to see you at my State of the City presentation at the RAC on January 11th. Please call my office if you would like to register to attend.

Sincerely,

LeRoy D. Burcroff

Special Reminders

Are your plastic grocery bags taking up space in a drawer or cabinet? The Senior Center is in need of clean, plastic grocery bags to help with packaging our monthly commodities.

Please drop them off at the front desk. Thank you very much!

There are many seniors without insurance or coverage that may benefit from items you don’t need anymore. Please feel free to drop them off at the Senior Center where

they will be distributed on a first come-first serve basis.

Items needed include: adult underwear/briefs (size L/XL most requested!), walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs, bandages, toilet seat risers, etc.

Have old medical equipment or supplies?

Donate it to the Senior Center for those in need.

Too many grocery bags?

Sign up for our new programs coming next year!

We will be holding special ornament-making workshops with designs for Christmas, Valentine’s

Day, St. Patrick’s Day or any other special occasion you’d like.

Jewelry classes will also start in January. If you are interested, please sign up so we can have

enough supplies for everyone.

If you have any other ideas for new games or projects, please let Rose or any of the employees know. We are open to any suggestions! We also welcome volunteers, if you’d like to take charge

and teach or lead a class. Let us know!

New Programs Coming

in 2018!

If you receive chore services, please be patient. Our staff will work hard to remove snow for seniors on the chore services list.

Remember to leave salt by your door and they will salt your driveway after clearing the snow.

If you have restrictions or medical issues, please stay in your home. Shoveling is

dangerous and very strenuous on your heart.
