Dear Chamber Members,
Happy New Year from the Cooper Landing Chamber of
Commerce! We are gearing up for another exciting year of
serving our community.
Our print magazine is currently in progress and we will be
holding an open house again in May to distribute them once
they're done. We are beginning to get inquires about the 2016
visitor's season and are hoping that you all are starting to book
up and get prepped for the upcoming summer.
The next Chamber meeting is on Saturday January 2nd. We will
meet at the Helen Gwin Commons at the senior center. Our
meeting will open to the public at 12 noon. Please fee free to
join us with any questions or ideas you might have to help us
with our ongoing goal to better our community and do all we
can to ensure business in Cooper Landing can thrive!
Wishing you all a healthy and happy 2016!

Cooper Landing Library News
Winter, as always, is vacation time for many and we have lot of
holes on our calendar while volunteers take their vacations. We
are always looking for people interested in helping fill in this time
of year. There are many openings on in January and February
as well as in March.
Winter Hours:
Monday through Wednesday 1-3; Thursday 12-4;
Friday 11-7; Saturday 10:30-3:30. The preschool program is Wednesday from 10-11 but the library is
not open to the general public during that time.
The library will be closed 12/31 and 1/1 for the holidays.

CLSCCI Board Meeting
Tuesday, January 5th, 2016 at 1:30 pm
Helen Gwin Commons
The next CLSCCI Board Meeting is at 1:30 pm on Tues., Jan 5, 2016 and all interested are
invited to Helen Gwin Commons to see the board in action.
Nana Sether has a pageant set up in Helen Gwin Commons that will remain on display into
the new year. She had 13 wooden figures made with jointed arms and attached
photographs of hers and friends grandchildren and clothed them in angel, shepherd, and
king garments. CLSCCI President Ron Sloan’s face is on the figure of St. Nicholas looking
down benevolently on the scene below—a surprise for Ron! Dan Rininger and Jim Carlson
made the wooden figures. Nana is a wonder!
Cooper Landing Community School Update
Tot Time: Mondays, 11am, Cooper Landing School gym. Bring those
little ones in to run around and burn off some energy. You might buy
yourself some nap time later!
Booty Camp: Starting again on January 4! Lace up your non-marking
gym shoes and join Melissa Fish and friends for an hour long sweat
session that will start and end your week with a bang every Mon-
day and Friday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30 at the school gym. Suitable
for adults and teens with at least basic to intermediate levels of fitness, these classes are high
impact at times, and decidedly fast paced. Warm up and a long stretch are included. Cost is $5
for drop-ins or you can purchase a punch card with 10 classes for $35--WHAT A DEAL! Got ques-
tions? Call Melissa at (907) 598-2065 or better yet, TEXT! :)
Yoga: Shannon is taking a break, but there will still be yoga at the Community Hall
at 10am, Tuesdays and Thursdays, through January. We appreciate a $2 donation for this
privilege, to help the CL Community School program pay for the hall rental. All levels encouraged
to come; don't worry if this is all new to you. It's a great way to stretch and get connected to
others and yourself during the short winter days!
Volleyball: Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6pm to 8pm, at the Cooper Landing School
gymnasium. Please wear clean, non-marking shoes and be prepared to help with cleanup.
Preschool: Fridays, 9am-11am, at the Cooper Landing School portable building. If you are
interested, please email Kira Kangas at [email protected].

January 15 - Share a favorite book you've recently finished.
