Our Mission

The women’s ministry of Kelview Heights Baptist Church

seeks to encourage women in spiritual growth,

discipleship, enrichment, ministry and evangelism.

This goal will be accomplished by providing resources,

training, enrichment events and a supporting network. www.aheartforwomensministry.blogspot.com

H appy New Year! Are you ready for the New Year? Well,

even if you aren't, it's too late, it has already started. I love

beginnings and the first of the year is always the biggie. The slate is

clear from the past and we have another chance to live a fulfilling

life. Are you going to make this year count for something grand and

wonderful for our Savior? I do hope that is at the top of your list.

One of my favorite scriptures is John 10:10. “The thief does not

come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come

that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” May this

be the year that we reflect the love of Christ by having a thankful heart for His

many blessings. Don't let the enemy destroy your desire to live a life for Christ!

I want to say thank you to the amazing love that many of you

ladies showed to a single mom and her three children at the

Buckner Family Home. Susan Lilly was amazing in organizing

and sharing the needs for this precious family. *Be sure to

read the note from the director of Buckner Family Homes in

this newsletter. My hubby and I had the privilege of taking the

gifts that you all provided to the home of the single mom. She

was thrilled. She cried as we set the presents under her tree.

She couldn't wait for her kiddos to get home to see. Her living

room was filled with gifts and I know that everything that was wished for by this

family was granted by you. Thank you for your generosity and your care for some-

one that has nothing to offer in return. Please continue to pray for this mom and

her children.

Blessings on your New Year and may the Lord always be the center of your heart

and your home.

WHAT’S COOKIN’?

Heart Talk Page 2

Beginner’s Luck Green Smoothie Makes 4-5 cups— half the recipe for a single serving.

Ingredients:

2 cups spinach (tightly packed)

2 cups water

1 cup frozen mango

1 cup frozen pineapple

2 bananas

Shopping List:

1. Baby spinach: 2 bags, 10-16 ounce bags

2. 10 Bananas

3. Mango: 2 frozen 24 ounce bags 4. Pineapple: 2 frozen 16 ounce bags

To all the ladies that donated new and gently used

Christmas decorations, thank you so much! It took two

cars to deliver all the decorations to Buckner Family

Homes. I received a text from the director, Anna, and

she said, "I wish you could have seen the kids’ faces

when they came with their moms to pick out the deco-

rations for their apartments, everyone was so excited

to get back and clean and decorate for the holidays."

So ladies, as usual, your kindness and generosity was

over the top. Thank you, again!

Living the Proverbs By: Charles R. Swindoll

One of America's most renowned pastors and

teachers takes readers on an insightful journey

through Proverbs, helping them discover wisdom

desperately needed to survive life's daily grind. We

all have those days - when small problems become

crises, when little temptations become big choices,

when we don't know who to trust or where to

turn. The book of Proverbs, written by the wisest man who

ever lived, offers revolutionary wisdom for troublesome times.

This remarkably down-to-earth study explores such pressing

themes as how to handle difficult people, what to do when

temptation comes, knowing who to trust, how to handle financ-

es, and even wisdom on marriage and parenting. Combining his

trademark illustrations and insights, Charles Swindoll offers up a

work that will help readers live out the wisdom of Proverbs as

never before. He draws on his previous best-selling content,

adapting it for a new 21st -Century audience.

Declutter Now! By: Lindon and Sherry Gareis

Negative clutter can invade every area of your life—

not just your closets. Relationships, finances, kids,

jobs, health and spiritual wellbeing are all adversely

impacted by the unnecessary and harmful stuff we

accumulate and hold onto. That could be physical

junk or emotional baggage. Husband and wife Lindon

and Sherry Gareis, know this from firsthand experi-

ence. Declutter Now! encourages readers to declutter every

area of life: your heart, mind, body, soul and home. We find

false security in our stuff. We keep company with the wrong

people for the wrong reasons. We hold on to negative and

painful feelings. Think about all of the unnecessary things we

gather from these behaviors and choices—stagnant lifestyles,

needless and excessive stuff, financial debt, obligation, guilt,

extra weight, anger, hurt, discontentment, addictions; the list is

endless.” Declutter Now! will help the reader let go of those

negative influences that impact our quality of life and our

relationship with God. Since decluttering removes what

you don’t need and gives you more of what you do, it

only makes sense your spiritual journey will benefit too.

SACRED PARENTING How Raising Children Shapes Our Souls

Parenting is a school for spiritual formation — and our

children are our teachers. Instead of discussing how

parents can change their kids, Gary Thomas turns the

tables and demonstrates how God uses our kids to

change us. You’ll be encouraged by stories that tell how

other parents handled the challenges and difficulties of

raising a godly family. Grow closer to Christ and your

children as you learn to:

Freely enjoy your kids for who they are.

Build a closer, grace-based family.

Reduce the pressure felt for your kids to turn out perfect.

Manage anger and negative responses towards your child’s

behavior.

Blessings From Above

Heart Talk Page 5

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.”” Psalm 127:3

Ladies, please be in prayer for each one of these women as they prepare and plan for this

special day. What a blessing and responsibility to give birth to a little one and raise them in the

nurture and admonition of the Lord. If you or a loved one is expecting, we would love to be

praying for them. Contact Coleen Catalano at 682-3482 or [email protected].

Congratulations to these new moms

and remember to keep them in your prayers:

Congratulations to these special ladies in the

upcoming births of God’s little precious ones:

Tonya, Lou Ann and Coleen,

Thank you so much for allowing us to tour your beautiful homes during our Christmas Tour of Homes last month. What fun it

was to see all the decorations and to see your beautiful homes. Your love of home and family was very evident. What a testi-

mony that is to so many of us. I know it was a lot of work for you. We thank your families, too, I'm sure they could relax and

enjoy the beauty after the tour was over. :) Thank you again for sharing your home with all of us.

So many of you brought such delicious snacks for us to enjoy when we returned back to the church for the rest of the event.

Everything was delicious and was displayed so pretty! You must have followed Martha Stewart's advice, "Presentation is every-

thing."

Sissy, you did a wonderful job in sharing your hints on wreath making and special pieces to display at Christmas! Your words of

wisdom were an encouragement to many of the ladies, thank you!

The trio, Simply Grace, was a blessing to us all as they shared their gift of singing, thank you for your time and sharing your

talent with us!

To all of the leadership team that worked to make sure the evening was a success, thank you!

We had many guests that evening and I thank all of you who returned back to the church for the rest of the evening's events.

I received a note from a lady that had a large group and she mentioned how friendly everyone was, so thank you for always

"getting it" and realizing that it is about so much more than viewing beautiful homes, eating and learning decorating tips. Aren't

you so thankful, that as women, we can enjoy all of that plus be a light to others? That is the big picture. When we realize it

isn't just about us and our likes and dislikes, so much can be accomplished for the Kingdom. Thank you for "getting it!"

–Beverly
