President’s Message
Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for making the
holidays in Colonial Hills so special. It takes many dedicated
helpers – and lots of neighbors helping neighbors – to make our
Food Drive, Holiday Party, Decorating Contest and Luminary
Night successful. So to all those who lifted, lugged, stuffed,
sorted, donated, decorated, baked, picked up, stepped up,
informed, delivered, or praised someone who did, the CHCA
board extends our appreciation. All the best in 2014. Happy
New Year!

Colonial Hills Elementary School News
Pastapalooza: Students are selling 50/50 raffle tickets for the school's
annual tradition of Pastapalooza. The pasta dinner served by the sixth-
grade students is the school's biggest fundraiser, and all profits support school
programs. Raffle tickets cost $5 each or three for $10, and the winner takes home half the
money collected. Other items, including a Worthington Pools family membership, will be
raffled off at the event. Neighbors are invited to have dinner at the school on Jan. 17.
Seatings are at 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., and tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for children 12
and under. If you don't reserve a seat through a student, email Shanna Cavallaro at
[email protected] to sign up. Walk-in seating is accepted based on availability.
Food Pantry Service Project
The entire third grade walked to the Worthington Food Pantry on a recent snowy morning to drop off 111
pounds in boxed cereal that they collected for a service project. The students in Alexander Bisca and Janis
Verhoff's classes hung posters they made all around the school asking their classmates to bring in cereal.

Colonial Hills Holiday Festivities
Thank You Kroger!
The Colonial Hills Civic Association, Worthington, wishes to
express their great appreciation for the generous gift of 2000
plastic grocery bags donated on Nov. 22 by the Kroger Store
at the Shops at Worthington Place.
A special thanks to Mr. West, the Kroger Manager, who
donated these bags (which were more than a two-years’
supply), which were a key component of our luminary kit
assembly event, Dec. 7, in which we assembled 840 luminary
kits for the 708 homes in our neighborhood!
Our Luminary Display, held 7-9 P.M. on Sunday, Dec. 15, is an
annual Colonial Hills holiday tradition which is greatly enjoyed
by both our residents and those in the surrounding
Worthington and Clintonville neighborhoods.
Since the occasional wind gusts of up to 20 MPH heightened
the effect of the chilly temperature that evening, I saw a
number of folks this year touring our neighborhood by car,
although I also observed many families walking the streets,
some with baby carriages and even their sweatered dogs in
tow!
Everyone was treated to the festive sights of a well-
decorated neighborhood, with the luminaries next to all the
streets lighting the way, and with signs in the yards of those
neighbors adjudicated on December 11 to be the winners of
our Colonial Hills Holiday Decorating Contest, in the various
categories of home and door decorations.
So a great big thanks to all our 30 volunteers who worked to
assemble and deliver the luminary kits, to all our neighbors
who decorated their homes, and to Mother Nature for the
snow, we had a true “winter wonderland” this year, and just
another reason among so very many, that I love living here!

Luminary Event Chair
