Upcoming MCC Events…

MCC’s Annual Business Meeting, Saturday January 14th, at 6pm at the Cool Water Cafe

in Ridgeland. Here you will learn a lot about what we have planned for the new year. It's

always a lot of fun so please mark this on your calendar. Please note there will be no

cruise-in on this date.

MCC’s first cruise-in for 2012, Saturday February 11th, from 2pm to 4pm. We‟ll be at

Renaissance at Colony Park in Ridgeland, weather permitting. Music and lots of fun!

Contact Bill Ellenburg at 601-238-3705 or [email protected]

Let’s welcome these new members to MCC!

Jim & Gwen Anderson Ridgeland, MS 1990 Chevrolet Corvette Conv.

What’s going on with MCC members?

Mike Martin recently took his 1965 Chevrolet Corvette to a National Corvette Restorers

Society judged meet in Long Beach, Mississippi. The 1965 Corvette received a "Second

Flight" award from the NCRS. This is one step down from their Top Flight award. Mike

said this about the event, “I didn't expect to get anything, so I was pleased. I now have a

list of items to correct that will let me hopefully move up to their top flight grade (there are

some awards even higher than that for cars 97 pts and above- a place I will never be). The

judges were impressed with the originality of the car. They want me to go try to get a

"Bowtie" certification, which is an award for unrestored originality. That is a complicated

process and I doubt that I will go that route. The next meet that Bowtie cars will be judged

is in California in 2012. Too far and too long (time) for me. I think I will just proceed with

a restoration to their specs with the thought of having a long distance dependable driver.”

Bill Price is adding a garage for his collection of cars. The concrete slab was poured in

late 2011 for a 2012 completion of the steel building. The garage will be 50‟ x 60‟ x 16‟

tall with a lift in it.

Rusty Easterling’s 1970 Plymouth GTX was recently chosen to be featured on the 1970

GTX Registry website. The registry currently has 1,050 cars documented. The feature can

be seen on http://www.1970GTXregistry.com

Mike Glore was notified that his McLaren MP4-12C will be delivered this spring after

waiting nearly a year for its arrival. We‟ll cover the long process in a future newsletter.

The December 3rd, 2011 Madison Christmas Parade Was A Lot of Fun!

The 2011 Madison Christmas Parade was a lot of fun as 30

members of the Mississippi Classic Cruisers made their way

along the 90 minute parade route complete with floats, marching

bands, civic groups, beauty queens, city dignitaries and horses all

on Main Street in down town Madison. Thousands of spectators

cheered for their favorite groups as they passed by and yes, the

Classic Cruisers drew cheers and applause from many in the

crowd. The parade moved slow enough that we were actually

able to talk about our cars with many of the spectators.

We also had the pleasure of having many of the children from Sunnybrook Children's Homes as our

guests at the parade as well as our guests for lunch at McAlister's Deli following the event. The children

and house parents really seemed to have a great time.

A BIG thank you is in order for MCC member Louis Oursler for organizing the Classic Cruisers in this

year's parade. Another BIG thank you is also in order to the following MCC members that participated

in the Christmas parade:

Information on the History of the 240sx:

The 240SX is a two-door compact car that was introduced to the North American market by

Nissan in 1988 for the following model year. It replaced the outgoing 200SX (S12) model.

Most of the 240SX were equipped with the 2.4-liter inline 4 engine (KA24E from 1989–1990

and KA24DE from 1991–1998). The KA24E being single over-head cam and KA24DE being

dual over-head cam. Two distinct generations of the 240SX, the S13 (1989–1994) and the S14

(1995–1998), were produced based on the Nissan “S” platform. The 240SX is closely related

to other S platform based vehicles, such as the Japanese-market Silvia and 180SX, and the

European-market 200SX.

In 1975 my dad (Lonnie Methvin) who owned Briarwood

and the interior is a tan diamond tuft which was done by

my dad's brother (Gene Methvin). The wheels were Cragar
