January 3, 2016 ~ Epiphany of the Lord

THE NEW YEAR BEGINS… I wish you and your families a very blessed New Year. As we begin this year let us pray for each other that we will have a year filled with spiritual blessings as we seek to grow together as a Catholic community. The beginning of the New Year is often surrounded with resolutions. I would propose that one of our community resolutions be that we try to be the best Christian witnesses that we can be. Our faith in Jesus should be rooted in our hearts and in our actions. We can change our environment to be more caring and loving by being the best examples of Jesus’ love to others in all that we say and do. We are in the midst of the Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis and throughout this year we might put into the practice of mercy of God in all that we do…Fr. Joe JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY 12/8/15 – 11/2016 The call of Jesus pushes each of us never to stop at the surface of things, especially when we are dealing with a person. We are called to look beyond, to focus on the heart to see [of] how much generosity everyone is capable. No one can be excluded from the mercy of God; everyone knows the way to access it and the Church is the house that welcomes all and refuses no one. Its doors remain wide open, so that those who are touched by grace can find the certainty of forgiveness. The greater the sin, so much the greater must be the love that the Church expresses toward those who convert."…Pope Francis YOUNG ADULT MASS WITH BISHOP SERRATELLI (AGES 23-29)… St. Paul inside the walls All young adults (23-29) are invited to pray together at the annual diocese-wide Young Adult Mass with Bishop Serratelli. Mass will be at 5:30 p.m. followed by young adult social until 8:30 p.m. The event will be hosted by the Diocese of Paterson Office of Evangelized with hospitality provided by St. Paul’s Young Adults. This is a great opportunity for all young adults in the diocese to come together in faith and fellowship to prayer together and kick of the New Year. St. Paul inside the walls is located at 205 Madison Ave. Madison, NJ January 9 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Live the Life God Wants for You – Diocese of Paterson Discernment Groups

In the Gospels, Jesus reveals to us a God who is intimately present to his creation, and tirelessly at work fo the renovation of the world through the renewal of mankind. God wants to bring about his kingdom here and now through those he has claimed as his own! Living as a Christian means allowing God to have free reign over our lives. It means receiving his love and embodying it for those around us. It means cultivating a rich harvest of spiritual fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, and the like (Gal. 5:22) The Holy Spirit inspires and animates our lives in Christ; he it is who instructs us and guides us. It is through discernment of the Spirit’s movement that we can know the will of God for us and become over more responsive to his loving call. If you want to become a more discerning person; if you want to hear God’s call and respond with more agility; if you want to experience his peace and his love; if you want to live the life God wants for you, then join us for fraternity, prayer and pizza.
