As you know I underwent surgery on December 14 for two cancerous lesions on lymph nodes near the hepatic artery leading to my liver. In the past, I have been able to have lesions like this ablated; however, because of their location near the artery, that was not possible this time. The surgery was successful, and the lesions were removed. In the coming months, I will be followed with two separate scans in April and May. What I wanted to most share now was thank you for all of the support you expressed to me and my family. Your prayers, cards and other expressions of encouragement were and are of inestimable support. Many times over the last weeks, I have turned to your notes and was strengthened as I read your words. I have observed before that one of the most difficult experiences of illness is that it can feel so lonely. Your thoughts and prayers break through the isolation that sometimes comes in the midst of recovery – thank you. I have started to return during the week to limited hours at the church. Frankly, because I feel good, I thought that I was a little further along in my recovery than I actually am and scheduled myself to preach sooner than I was actually able to do so. However, I think I am now able to rejoin the preaching schedule! I just wanted to take this time and say thank you for all your support. It has meant more to me than I can really express, and I am so in your debt for support of me. You are such a great church, and I am humbled by your support. In a couple of weeks, we will have prepared our year end report here at Wesley that will be available either online or in the church office. All to say we enjoyed a tremendous Advent and Christmas season at the church (I know - I watched each of the Christmas Eve services online) and that momentum carried through to our youth musical that was offered last week. This week we return to our Wednesday evening programs, and I hope you will take advantage of this mid-week spiritual refreshment. In the meanwhile, I anxiously look forward to be able to worship with you in the next few weeks.

It is easy to get caught up with everyday things. And yes, we can be faced with challenges that can be very overwhelming. God loves us so very much, and He is with us always. Struggles are real but believing and keeping focus on The Father, Son and Holy Spirit ‐ just having that reassurance all the me ‐ is the ul mate blessing. In Zephaniah 3:17 ‐ "The Lord your God is with you; His power gives you victory. The Lord will take delight in you, and in His love He will give you new life." And in I Timothy 4:10 ‐ "We struggle and work hard because we have placed our hope in the living God, Who is The Savior of all and especially of those who believe." Thanks be to God. Amen.
