Supply Requirements:• Solid color fabrics and coordinating decorative thread• Fusible web• Tear Away stabilizer• Optional thin upholstery vinyl or tissue paper• Optional light box
Instructions:• Cut the block backgrounds 7” x 7”. (Once the applique has been stitched to the block, you will
trim it to 6 1/2” x 6 1/2” to sew together with the other blocks which all finish at 6” x 6”.)
• Trace the Block Layout Guides onto thin upholstery vinyl or tissue paper. Use this as an overlay guide to help place appliqué pieces on the background when it’s time to fuse the block. (Or if you have a light box, just place the printed layout guide directly underneath the background fabric if the color you’ve chosen is light enough to see through.)
• Using your favorite type of marking pen or pencil, create lines to indicate the horizontal center and the vertical center of the block.
• Mark any stitching lines indicated on each diagram page and stitch these with decorative thread and a triple straight stitch either before fusing the applique or after as indicated. (If before, be sure to place some Tear Away stabilizer underneath the block prior to stitching.)
• Trace the applique templates onto the paper side of fusible web.
• Roughly cut around each traced piece. Do not cut them directly on the tracing line.
• Fuse the applique shapes to the wrong side of your chosen fabrics. (Follow the fusible web manufacturer’s instructions for best adhesion.)
• Let it cool and now cut the pieces out directly on the traced line.

• Place Tear Away stabilizer under the block. Using decorative thread and your choice of stitches, sew the appliqué around the edges. (Also stitch any lines that were indicated to be stitched after the block was fused, again using a triple straight stitch.)
• Remove the stabilizer carefully, press the block from the back and trim to 6 1/2” x 6 1/2” for sewing into the quilt.
