Bernikow FitnessThe JCC’s 5,000 sq. ft. Fitness Center offers a wide variety of cardioand weight machines to accommodate our versatile membershipneeds. However, we encourage all members to be aware of and prac-tice good etiquette while in the Fitness Center.The Fitness staff is available to assist with any discrepancies of theusage of the equipment or service to our members. Please refer anyconflicting issues with other members to our staff.

Fitness Etiquette• Please return all weights to their storage racks for the next member to use.• Wipe down all equipment after use to prevent the spread of germs.• Do not hang on the TV’s while exercising. They will snap off!• Children under 13 are not permitted in the Adult Fitness Center.• Youth ages 13 and older must have successfully completed the Teen Tune Class before authorized to use the fitness equipment• Equipment is set up on a first come-first serve basis. • Please allow others to work in between multiple sets on the weights.• Report all incidents of non-working equipment to the Fitness Floor staff.• Report all incidents of first aid needs to the Fitness Floor or Desk staff.• Return all equipment to its rightful place (mats, rollers, etc.)• The Personal Trainers have first priority for use of the stretching table with their clients.• All personal items such as coats, purses, keys, etc. should be locked up in lockers in the locker room. The JCC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.• Members should have their ID card on them at all times in order to access the Fitness Center and locker rooms. • Save some energy for that last climb up the stairs to your car.

Menorah Lighting at City Hall

Hayley Rosenfeld is a girl scout with a JCC troop. She hasalways been interested in helping those with special needs.Hayley is working on a project of how Hurricane Sandyaffected children with Special Needs in NYC. The first partof her project included collecting money and callingvendors for donations of various adaptive equipment. Shealso needed to find loaner equipment for the children wholost theirs during the storm until new and permanentequipment can replace them. This first part of her projectis nearly complete.As a second part of her project, she along with her fellow

Girl Scouts from her troop had a toy drive for specialneeds children and their siblings that lost their toys in thehurricane. It was held at the Avis/South Shore JCC onDecember 21.In recognition of her ongoing work with special needs

children, Hayley was invited by Mayor Bloomberg to helplight the menorah at City Hall.
