BHAGAT KANWAR RAM AUDITORIUM INAUGURATED

Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur along with Sain Sadhram Sahib of Raharki Sharif jointly inaugurated the renovated Hall of the Shikarpur Campus of University after the name of Bhagat Kanwar Ram Auditorium. The entire expenditure on the renovation, furnishing, furniture, and fixture are borne by the SSD Mission.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah said, Bhagat Kanwar Ram was a legend personality having tilt towards Sufism. His ideas, teaching and philosophy were concerned directly with human dignity. He was a symbol of generosity. Dr. Shah said, it is high time that the teaching and philosophy of Sufi saints may be promoted at large to contain the feelings of militancy, intolerance and promote the essence of peace. Dr. Shah remarked that the message of Bhagat Kanwar Ram was the principle of co-existence.

She said, Shaikarpur remained the Hub of trade, commerce and education. This campus will be upgraded as University very soon. Vice Chancellor proposed the Federal government that the name of Ruk Railway Station may be renamed in the legend Bhagat Kanwar Ram Railway Station.

Sain Sadhram Sahib while addressing said, this campus is providing quality education to the people of the Northern Sindh. He said, education is the source of knowledge, wisdom and vision. With the help of wisdom, we can differentiate between the good and evil forces. He said, it is high time that mysticism may be promoted in the world to contain the feelings of discrimination and militancy.

He said, the message of Sufis is humanity and promotion of interfaith harmony and tolerance. He said, the philosophy of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Sachal Sarmast, Sami and Bhagat Kanwar Ram is based on human dignity and tolerance. He suggested that the syllabus may be designed in order to teach the philosophy of Sufi saints to our youth because youth could play their due role in the society.

Prof. Dr. Lutfullah Mangi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Shikarpur Campus said, the past glory

of Shikarpur may be restored with the quality education. He lamented that in the 80 years span of time, no any road or place was named after the legend Bhagat Kanwar Ram but credit goes to Shah Abdul Latif University’s Shikarpur Campus to remember the Sufi saint Bhagat Kanwar Ram and auditorium has been established after his name. The second glaring credit goes to Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur that University has established Sami Chair at Shikarpur Campus. He praised the incumbent Incharge Director Sami Chair, Tanveer Muhammadi, who was acting as stage secretary of the event, regarding his services for the Chair.

The visiting guests also visited the central library of the campus and commended the efforts of Pro-Vice Chancellor Shikarpur Campus and his team for providing modern facilities to the readers.

The faculty students, Campus staff and notables of Shikarpur attended the event.

Campus Library and Information Centre has been further furnished to accommodate the

inflow of more books and more works in its fold. The seating arrangement has been

improved giving enhanced feel of privacy. The seating places are also facilitated with

Internet access and laptops. The more cupboards have found their way into the library

bringing in more books. The students have enthusiastically welcomed the new

developments in the library.

Mr. Farhan Surhio, Tutor Computer Department gave briefing about the software which

could help in Campus management system. The PVC Shikarpur lauded the brief of Mr.

Farhan and directed for more comprehensive approach towards the use of software

keeping in view with the technological challenges and physical reality of the Campus.

The new sensation in cricket in Shikarpur Bilal Irshad Kaghzi visited the Campus on Nov, 22, 2017. In a recent Fazal Mahmood Cricket Championship 2017, Mr Bilal hit a 320 not out score against Al Rehman Cricket Club which helped his club emerge as Champion of the event.

Mr. Bilal was taken round the Campus. He appreciated the academic atmosphere of the

Campus. He then met the students and encouraged them to be active in various sports.

The Campus expects Mr. Kaghzi to help Campus Cricket team improve batting skills.

Mr. Farhan brief faculty about Campus management system

BILAL KAGHZI VISITS CAMPUS

Chartered Inspection & Evaluation Committee of Higher Education Commission, HEC (Sindh) visited the Campus regarding the upgradation of its status to a full-fledged university, on Friday, 18 Nov 2017. The committee was headed by its chairman Prof Dr Abdul Qadeer, Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili, Prof Dr Mujeeb-ud-Din Sehrai and Prof Aziz Fatima. Prof Dr Abdul Qadeer said that Shikarpur remained a key avenue for business activities and its culture was also famous worldwide. He said the up gradation of the university campus will be the source of revival for education in Shikarpur. He said the recommendations for the upgradation of Shikarpur Campus to a full university will be discussed in the next meeting of Higher Education Commission Sindh, Sindh Cabinet and provincial assembly. Dr Qadeer appreciated the efforts of Shah Abdul Latif University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Parveen Shah for the promotion of education, research, development and innovation. Dr Parveen Shah cordially welcomed the inspection committee and said that despite severe financial crunch, they were committed to provide quality education at the university’s every campus. Dr Parveen Shah commended the efforts of member provincial assembly (MPA) Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh on account of his moral support for the upgradation of the university’s campus to a full-fledged university and also lauded the efforts of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah for the cause of education. Shikarpur Campus Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Lutfullah Mangi briefed the committee about the available physical infrastructure and other allied facilities at the campus. He said that 53 acres of land had been purchased for establishment of the campus. During the Annual Development Program (ADP) 2015-16, Rs 25 Million had been earmarked by the Sindh government for purchase of land, while in the ADP 2016-17, a proposal for Rs 137.8 million had been submitted. MPA Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh told the Shikarpur campus administration that a separate PC-I for university campus’ upgradation may be submitted. During his visit, he announced Rs 1 million for the purchase of books and to donate 50 new computers for the campus. He also suggested that proposal of special grant of Rs 200 Million may be prepared and submitted for the recurring expenditures of the campus.

Final test for second semester 2017 was held in smooth manner in various departments of the Campus. The semester started on 20

November continued till 19 December 2017.

SHIKARPUR CAMPUS ON THE PATH OF BECOMING UNIVERSITY

FINAL TEST FOR SECOND SEMESTER 2017 CONDUCTED

The Pre-Entry Test 2018 for admissions in Bachelor and Masters Programs in all the Departments was held on 4th and 5th December respectively in Shikarpur Campus. Prof. Dr. Lutfullah Mangi visited the entry test blocks and appreciated the arrangements.

Prof. Dr. Syed Asad Raza Abidi, Registrar, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur has announced that Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and its Shikarpur, Ghotki and Shahdadkot Campuses will remain closed from Tuesday 26 December, 2017 to Friday 05th January 2018 on account of Winter Vacations. The classes of new Academic Year 2018 will start from Monday 08th January 2018.

Sindhi cultural day was celebrated on 21 December 2017. The students participated in various cultural events with sense of pride to promote the Sindhi cultural values whose beauty and message is Love, peace and blessings for all. Bhagat Kanwar auditorium was the venue for the Sindhi cultural program. The students presented a short skit to emphasize the importance of education. The skit addressed the revolutionary character of a teacher who stands against the anti educational behavior of wadera (landlord). Miss Rashna Agha presented in a very soulful voice the na’at maqbool (S.A.W). Miss Nau-sheen Soomro presented speech on the importance of Sindhi cultural day. Both the stu-dents belong to the Department of English Language and Literature. Later, Mr. Tanveer Ahmed Muhammadi, Lecturer, Department of English Language and Literature, spoke to the students and emphasized upon them to keep a broader vision and not limit Sindhi cultural day to merely Sindhi Topi and Ajrak. They needed to maintain and glorify culture by contributing to the welfare of humanity. The contribution to knowledge in progressive manner shall make their cultural beauty world famous. Prof. Dr. Lutfullah Mangi, Pro Vice Chancellor Shikarpur Campus, appreciated the

sense and fervor of students’ participation in the cultural event. He urged upon students

to involve themselves in their educational programs so much that they can significantly

contribute to the overall development of the roots they come from. This was the true way

of honouring their culture. He appreciated the organizer of the event, Asst Professor.

Zulfiqar Rajper, Incharge Commerce Department, for making it a memorable event. The

event culminated in the Sufi Raag representing the mystic beauty of Sindhi culture.
