• Consists of executive management, finance/commercial, field operations, engineering, and engineering performance analytics• Will yield the implementation of purchasing, inspection, and repair specifications

• Education of engineering staff: Gearbox Failures and Root Cause Analysis• Joined GRC in Fall 2012• Added photography equipment to Engineering tool kit• Joined AGMA in December 2012

• Further involvement and participation in both AGMA events and technical committees

• Develop Reliability Engineering approach to address and resolve problems, to include:

• Failure database • Lubricant data trending and database

• Implementation of an RCA program in collaboration with counterparts in Australia• Establishing relationship with metallurgical labs for analysis• Establishing relationships with Universities to provide additional resources• Collaborating with other industries to help resolve common and often similar problems

Yaw Drives• Applying lessons learned from gearbox work into issues with yaw drives

Condition Monitoring• Investigating multiple alternatives from a technical and financial perspective

Gearbox Problems, Investigation, and Repair

• If a failure occurs we begin an information dump. This involves:

• Discussions with site personnel • Retrieving SCADA data• In Situ photographs• Measurements are taken if necessary

• Parts are retained or an engineer is present at the gearbox teardown• All efforts made to catch failures early and perform as much work up tower as possible.• Investigating innovated component options and repair procedures
