Just over two months ago when we announced, via our newly created
monthly newsletter, that JamaicanEats magazine would become a
digital publication, we heard from our readers.
Some of you liked the idea and quickly subscribed for the digital
edition. A handful noted that you had no desire for a digital magazine.
Many of you commented that while you were not thrilled by the move
you would remain loyal readers.
Thanks to Mary Petty of London, England, and several other readers,

Cool Runnings
Cucumber Cooler
1 large cucumber, peeled and cut into large pieces
2 cups water
1 cup ice
3 tablespoons sugar, or to taste
Juice of 1/2 lime, or to taste
1. Place cucumber in blender, and puree with
other ingredients until completely smooth.
2. Serve immediately, garnished with cucumber
and lime.
Serves 4
Roll with the punchesTwo yummy punches from the tropics
Sweet Potato Punch
1 cup diced cooked potato 2 cups milk
1 cup water 1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon nutmeg 2 drops bitters
Sugar to taste Dash of rum
1. Combine potato, milk, water and sugar. Blend
until smooth.
2. Stir in other ingredients.s
Plantain Punch
1 cup ripe plantain (seeds removed)
5 cups water 2 teaspoons lime juice
½ ounce ginger Sugar to taste
1. Combine all ingredients, except sugar in
blender.
2. Blend and strain.
3. Sweeten to taste.
4. Chill and serve.
For a twist: Use 4 cups of water, add a
bottle of Guiness stout, top with grated nutmeg

Jamaica Dream
1 ounce brown rum
1 ounce tequila
2 ounces coconut rum cream
1ounce coconut water
1 ounce pineapple juice
Dash Cointreau
1 slice fresh pineapple
1 slice banana
Flesh from 1/2 star apple (optional)
1 ounce freshly grated coconut or
coconut “meat”(pulp)
Simple syrup, to taste
Dash of Aromatic Bitters
1. Blend all ingredients with ice.
2. Pour into large cocktail glasses.
3. Top with a dash of pineapple syrup.

The decision was made earlier in 2010
after much consideration to take advan-
tage of technology.
Many small and niche market publish-
ers are going this route, because it pro-
vides flexibility, greater reach and
