My name is Jake Forrester and I am 18 years old. After high school, I plan on either joining the armed forces or going to college. For my Senior Project I chose to film and edit my own skateboarding video. The reason I chose this as my project is because I have always had a love for skateboarding and I also find interest in the field of film production which, with success, I know can be a very rewarding career. In my research paper, I discussed step by step how to create a skateboarding video. My video was filmed with a Sony VX2100 video camera and I created the footage into my video using the Pinnacle Studio HD Ultimate editing software created by Avid. I learned a couple helpful tips along the way of my research such as hints on how to hold the camera steadier and how to use my editing software correctly. My skateboarding video was filmed at Progressive Skatepark during a benefit jam for local skateboarder Josh Butler. A few months back, he was shot in the stomach outside his friend’s apartment in Atlanta. However, he is healing well and on his way back to being one hundred percent recovered. Knowing this, I chose to film and make my video at his benefit jam. I did this not only to show my support for his recovery, but also to influence the skaters to see the camera and want to land tricks in support of him too! The skills required in my project are skills that are becoming more needed in the technological workforce each and every year.

Dear Judges:

First off, I would like to thank you for taking the time to judge my Senior Project.

Film quality and creative techniques are constantly changing and modernizing as technology becomes better. With the impact that film has on emotions and entertainment, I would like to pursue a career in this field. Not only could I see myself entering this career field because I have an interest in it, but also because I have always loved a challenge. I see video production as a fun and rewarding challenge, which is why I would like to possibly pursue a career in this field.

Overall, I really did enjoy doing Senior Project. I learned a lot of useful things that can be applied to endless possibilities in the future. Once again, I would like to thank you for your time and attention put forth to judge my Senior Project.

Sincerely,

Jake Forrester
