I recently found myself in the middle of a career transition. I was not terribly happy in my last job, and I decided it was time to try something new. My search lead me to a sales position, and although I didn't have any direct sales experience, I wanted to give it a shot. As I sat in my interview with the head of sales and the CEO, they asked me some

personal questions about what I liked to do. I mentioned that I practiced Martial Arts. My interview soon turned into a practice session in selling, and the CEO asked me to "sell" him on the idea of martial arts. So I did. By the time I was finished, both of them were on the edge of their seat, and the head of sales told me that this was the best selling he had ever seen from someone who had zero experience. I was hired the next day.

I wanted to write this because three years ago, before I started practicing, something like this would have never happened. My confidence has increased 10 fold. I had the courage to quit a high salary job that didn't make me happy (without a backup plan), and get hired for something that I had no experience doing.
