REPORT on PHYSICAL WORK, BENEFICIATION, and

FIELD STUDIES of THE SIMS GARNET PROPERTY

INTRODUCTIONThe following report represents a collection of data obtained over die

last five years or so on the Sim's Garnet Property which has not previously been submitted for assessment purposes.

LOCATION and ACCESS

The Sun's Garnet Property consists of S contiguous claims numbered: S1043291 and SI 197532 in the southwest corner of Janes township and S1043457, S1043460 and S1043463 in the southeast corner of Davis Township.

The property is located in the M.NJI administrative Division of North Bay, the Land Titles Administrative Registry Division of Sudbury and within the Sudbury Mining Division. According to the N.T.S system it Is located hi the northwest quarter of 411/9 or at a longitude of 80* 25' and latitude of 46* 38'. Access to the property can be obtained via highway #535 north of Hagar . The property is found straddling the gravel road about 7 miles north of the hamlet of Riviere Veuve. The study area lies directly to tile east and the borders on the roadway.

PREVIOUS EXPLORATION WORK

Previously submitted exploration work in the area consists of: 1) a regional airborne magnetometer and E. M. geophysical survey ft 2) a geological map of the stripped area with a percussion drill program evaluation report.

PRESENT WORK

The present work consists of stripping along a portion of the current baseline and line 0+50, test pitting, garnet beneficiation studies and subsequent archival studies with field observations were undertaken prior to the previously submitted percussion drill program report.

The reconaissance traverses both on existing Haimy and on adjacent crown lards were ^inrff*rtaic**n after the submission of the percussion drill program report.

TEST PITTING (TRENCHING)

On May 7,1990, drilling and blasting vos undertaken to produce a bulk sample of garnet for beneficiation tests.

Two pits were blasted, noted as Pit #1 and #2 as shown on line 0+50E near the baseline 0+00 on Map #J.

Pit #1 was blasted along the east-west contact of an amphibolite gneiss found in the south part of the pit with a paragneiss in the north part of the pit. Both the amphibolite gneiss and the paragneiss are garnetiferous. The amphibolite gneiss has an east - west strike and dips to the south at about 70* and probably represents a metamorphosed anorthosite. The paragneiss consists of various bands of quartz feldspar and biotite gneiss and schist.

Pit #2 was blasted in a band of biotite schist. Golfball sized snowball garnets were encountered hi this pit exceeding 3096 of the rock.

Material later extracted from this site was sent for beneficiation tests at Qrtech. The results of these tests are included later hi t-his submission hi a separate section.

The material used hi this work consisted of a portable 250 CFM air compressor, plugger and several sticks of explosives with blasting caps.

The work was conducted with the above equipment and material over a period of 6 hours during May 7,1990 at an hourly rate of SSO.OOXhr by Camroy Construction Limited.

Pit dimensions are shown on Map #2.

All this work was conducted on claim S1043463.

STRIPPING

After completion of the blasting as described earlier and between June 5 and November 20,1990, a PC200 Komatsu Excavator operated by Camroy Construction Limited of Hagar Ontario, was used for a ten hour period for one day (@ S75.007hr) to remove about 1/2 ton of the blasted material for bulk sampling of garnet and to strip an L shaped area of about 80 meters long and 15 meters wide comprising 1200 square meters. The depth of this overburden being in the range of one to three feet at most. The location of this stripping is shown on Map # .

The nature of the rock exposed was of two varieties. To the south of the baseline along lin** 0+50 the bedrock consists primarily of a banded amphibolite gneiss probably derived from a metamorphosed anorthosite. At the baseline, sunA heading eastward along the baseline, the amphibolite gnriss contact occurs along the southern edge of the stripped area while a paragneiss comprised of feldspathic and quartzitic bands with some biotitic schist covers the majority of the stripped area. All rock types exhibited garnets with the greatest concentrations of garnets being within the biotite schist and quartzitic bands near the amphibolitegneiss contact. Maximum localized concentrations of garnets exceeded 3O96 of the rock volume. A detailed description of this mapping has been previously submitted and is shown in Map #2.

All this work was conducted on claim S1043463.

MINERAL BENEFICIATION TESTS

Part of the 1/2 ton sample collected from the test pits on claim S1043463 (see Map #2) were transported to Qrtech international for beneficiation tests based on gravity separation (almandine garnet specific gravity is approx 4.3 while Ae surrounding waste rock is hi the range of 2.5-3.0). Two techniques were used and compared that of the Reichert Spiral and that of a gravity

table. The methodology and results of these two techniques aredescribed hi the attached report from Qrtech International that follows.

The fee for this service was invoiced at S500.00 on January 14, 1991.

All this work wu conducted on claim S1043463.

TEST PROCEDURE AND RESULTS

Initially two spiral tests using the modified Retehert spiral, were carried out as follows:

Test l - 5 kg of approximately dBMiflfld was slurried In a pump to pulp solids density and circulated on the spiral In a closed loop where the spiral products discharged back to the feed pump.

This arrangement provided a constant operating condition for as long as necessary to make observations and adjustments in distribution of the products discharged as either concentrate, middlings and tailings.

When by observation, the best obtainable spot between the products was deemed to have been established a sample was simultaneously cut from each of the 3 discharge streams.

At this point, the test was over since removal of samples alters the test condition.

In Test 2, the test procedure was the same except that the spiral feed solds content was Increased from 5 Kg to 12 kg. This resulted In a higher feed pulp density and higher feed rate.

The available data and results of the spiral tests are shown in Tables 1 and 2.

aan T6 *- oaa

Page 11: J, i So - Ontario

Page 2

The results Indteate Test 1 feed rate as 085 Whr at IT* pulp solids density and 1900 kg/hr In Test 2 at Sl.6% pulp soUs density. Examination of the products appeared to indicate that Test l (lower feed density and feed rate) had resulted In a better separation (cleaner, less garnet in tailings) but there was not noticeable difference between the concentrate and middlings produced in Test 1. Both of these product fractions were screened to determine their size distribution as shown in Table 2.

The screen fractions that appeared to contain the most garnet particles were the 35 and 48 M size fractions thereby Indicating that the mesh of grind or liberation size should be -28M.

To determine the approximate percentage of garnet contained in the -28M concentrate and middlings, the fractions were submitted to sink- float tests in a heavy Iquid whose specific gravity (s.g.) was 2.9.

The separated sink and float fractions of several tests were combined, filtered, dried and collected to show the following weight distribution:

sink fraction (s.g. higher than 2.9) 4TO weight float fraction (s.g. fighter than 2.9) 53*fc weight

Since the specific gravity of different garnets is between 3.5 and 4.5 the float fractions of those tests definitely establish that a high proportion of the upgraded feed Is not garnet.

Page 12: J, i So - Ontario

Page 3

Overall, the feed garnet content Is Indcated to be about WK calculated as follows:

Weight tt

Feed 100.047.0

Spiral concentrate and middlings 63.0 Sink-float float fraction

Sink-float sink fraction (garnet) 25.0

Subsequently, some feed samples were submitted to gravity (shaking) table separation tests. In comparison with the spiral, the table was not at an effective in separating garnet concentrate from unsized -6M feed. A concentrate similar in appearance to that obtained from spiral Test l products by screening at -28+48M was separated from feed sized at -28+48M. The split obtained on the table between the concentrate and talHngs then again was 4TO by weight concentrate and 63*fc weight tailings.

The concentrate was not dean and would require further upgrading In a closed drcuit test with a grinding mill as suggested in flowsheet of Figure 2.

The two alternatives of test flowsheets are recommended for treating a bulk sample to determine the amount and quality of garnet contained In the feed.

Please note that alternative 1 does not require crushing to fine size. A minus 0.2 m size feed is suitable for autogenous grinding.

Mr. William Sims, 392 Paisley Blvd. West, Mississauga, Ontario LSB2A6

Dear Bill;

I have reviewed the data on your garnet property in Davis Township, Ontario and have the following recommendations on how to proceed with the evaluation.

History Review

Garnet was first recorded by the Ontario Department of Mines (Vol XLVID Part X ) in 1939 three quarters of a mile south of Ess Creek station Quote 'Imperfect crystals l to 2 inches in diameter have grown together in aa almost solid mass' unquote. The location as described appears to coincide with die Sims claims.

In the Ontario Department of Mines report number IS, (page 8) Garnet is again mentioned Quote The Granitic Gneiss is intimately associated with foliated biotite gneiss and garnetiferous gneiss, the later facies may contain as much as 20ft almandine garnet in dodechedral crystals up to 3 inches in diameter* unquote. The specific location is not described but it would appear to be geologically in the same location as the Sims claims.

In a report written by the Ontario Research Foundation (Ortech) dated July 14th. 1988, a crushing experiment was conducted to determine the extractabilily of garnets from a grab sample Quote 'Two grab samples visually contained purplish red garnets varying in size from 1/4 inch to 2 inches in diameter, the garnets were easily liberated from the other minerals" unquote. It was also observed that when the screen fractions, 16 mesh and 30 mesh were subjected to a dry magnetic separation the garnets were easily extracted (concentrated) This type of information is useful for pilot plant design.

Ulrich kretschmar in a report dated August 1989 reported garnets up to 10" cm. in diameter*but generally l cm. or less in concentrations of 30 - SO 8 garnet but most importantly said that the average percentage of garnet cannot be estimated without detailed mapping.

Terraquest flew an airborne magnetic VLF-EM survey and reported their findings in a report dated Feb. 2nd 1990. Airborne surveys cannot detect garnet specifically. They did detect a number of new contacts and faults and plotted four VLF-EM conductor axis that they believe to have "potential sulphide origins"

The author visited the site for one day in the fall of 1990 and traced the occnrance for approximately 300 feet before il disappeared into the underbrush. Several trenches have been blasted in places S to 6 feet in depth and garnets can be observed scattered throughout the host rock in concentrations estimated to be up to 30*.

Ortech International in a report dated Jan 21, 1991 noted that "Two specimens subjected to a modified Rechert spiral classifier indicated that the garnet content in the feed was 2556', they also included two possible flow sheets.

Summary

From the data accumulated to date it can be said that there are garnets on the Sims property ranging in concentrations of from 2W 10 9l)lb, that they can be up lo 2 inches in diameter, and that a satisfactory recovery can bc achieved if the material is crushed to -28 mesh and subjected to a modified Reichert spiral classifier. What needs to be determined is the extent of the deposit or the number of tons of sufficient dollar value to prove or disprove the viability of the property. To achieve this objective it is recommended that a progressive exploration program be conducted beginning with a detailed geological mapping of the area in the immediate vicinity of the outcrop and a geological examination of all nine claims. X-Ray drilling down to a depth of 50 ft. on the outcrop would assist in this examination. If at the conclusion of this program it is determined that geologically the property has the potential the next step would be to produce a sufficient quantity of finished product, garnets of a quality that meet industrial standards. This can.be accomplished in- two ways:

(1) Construct a small pilot plant on the property

(2) Take a bulk sample and have it processed in a test milling facility.

The pilot plant or bulk sample processing would not only produce a quantity of material for evaluation, it would also provide information as to what treatment is required for maximum recovery.

It is believed that 20 tons of finished product would be sufficient to send to end users for evaluation. If the response by the end users is positive, a decision would have to be made to determine:

(1) How many tons of garnets would have to be produced yearly to make the property commercially viable.

(2) What additional drilling and exploration is necessary to prove up sufficient reservesto support this yearly production. The percentage of garnets in the drill cores converted

into dollars as established from the industrial testing would provide the information neoeaay to determine the value per ton of rock in the ground.

(3) What would be the cost to construct and operate a plant, or what is the cost per ton of rock to extract the finished product.

In conclusion, the evaluation of a property containing an industrial product such as garnet differ! ^rq^ajgase. metal .or precious^metal property Jn.that the end product has to meet specific quality standardise as loHti^ accepted? This complicates the process'of evaluating a property as hot only "is" it necessary to determine the size of the deposit it also becomes necessary to determine the quality of the product in the deposit so as to obtain a dollar value per ton of rock.

Please give me a call if yon have any qi

GARNET INVESTIGATION REPORT

INTRODUCTION

Between May 30 to June 8,1994, two areas were briefly examined to determine an estimate of their garnet potential. Reconnaissance traverses were done on each of the areas using a compass, hip chain with enlarged and corrected airphotos for control A map, attached to this report, was prepared of these areas at a scale of 1:5,000. The significant garnetiferous locations observed during these traverses are described below. Additional unknown showings may also exist hi these areas.

AREA 2 - JANES TOWNSHIP

Two days of field examinations were spent on area 2. On May 30 traverse #1 was conducted by Bob Komarechka as shown on the attached map. The primary purpose of this traverse was to locate and examine the baseball sized garnet showing. Traverse #3 was conducted on June 6,1994 by Frank Racicot and concentrated further on the Suns garnetiferous trend extending eastward from Davis township further into Janes township.

TRAVERSE #1- lanes Township

Traverse #1 continued southward across the anticipated strike extensions of the main east-west garnet trend until about 100 meters into the anorthosite band found to the south of claim 1043291. Generally, on this traverse, outcrop exposure of the metasediment portion was very poor and no significant exposures of garnet, other than the baseball sized garnet showing were observed on this traverse. The following description summarizes rock types and interesting observations encountered along this traverse.

Garnet Investigation Report - May 22,1995 Bedrock Consulting pg. l

Page 22: J, i So - Ontario

This traverse begins to the north of L1+75E1 down the cliff to and across the beaver dam and eastward along the north shore of the beaver pond. Some garnet bands approximately one meter wide were observed parallel along the cliff face, magnetite rich quartzite was observed in the trough on some outcrops crossing the beaver dam, while on the north shore of the beaver pond the rock consisted primarily of anorthosite metamorphosed to a banded plagioclase amphibolite straight gneiss. Strike was generally parallel to the length of the beaver pond trough hi an east-southeast direction but this may be due to a local linear tectonic orientation from a possible north thrusting fault along the trough. Near the east end of this beaver pond by the second beaver dam at L3+50E1 several bands of biotite plagioclase quartz amphibole gneiss with thin (l meter) bands of 1596 garnet were observed along the shoreline.

Traveling northeastward along a creek draining the second pond, the anorthosite, as earlier described, continued; this time with a northwest strike becoming east-west further to the north. An interesting vein of quartz l to 6 meter wide was encountered hi the lower portion of this creek bed. This quartz was a brilliant white and if found hi more substantial quantities may meet the requirements for optical glass. This quartz may also be part of a pegmatite body. Overburden hi this area prevented further evaluation. No further outcrop was observed downstream to the flood plain of the Kabikatitwia River so the traverse was continued along outcrop exposures along the southern edge of the floodplaln. The first outcrop encountered was a banded anorthosite straight gneiss as earlier described followed by a metasedimentary band. The baseball garnet showing was found within this band.

The baseball garnet showing was rather disappointing. The length of the outcrop exposure was about 16 meters long but only about 2 meters wide and occurs along a north facing cliff about 3 meters high. To the north it is in contact with the earlier described anorthosite gneiss while to the south a reddish (hematitic stained) plagioclase quartz biotite amphibole gneiss occurs. This gneiss was often observed at the contacts of the banded anorthositic gneisses and the metasetUmmfary gneisses and may represent an alteration (sweat) zone either at the time of emplacement of the anorthosite and/or subsequent metamorphism. The average garnet content of the baseball showing is about 3596 with the average garnets being

iRomarechka, R., 1991, Map #3, Pg. 6-L

Garnet Investigation Report - May 22,1995 Bedrock Consulting pg. 2

Page 23: J, i So - Ontario

plum size. These garnets and especially the occasional baseball sized garnets are subhedral and contain about 30-4096 of ameboid quartz inclusions. The garnets are contained in a biotite schist similar to the Sims locality hi Davis twp. The strike extensions of this outcrop disappears to the east A west hi overburden and was not traced. The traverse then continued southward hopefully to find an eastward strike extension of the Sims showing in Davis township. Only minor outcrop was encountered, that being the reddish plagioclase gneiss earlier described. The large area of no outcrop exposure along the strike direction of the Sims garnetiferous metasedimentary band should not preclude the possibility of an extension in this area.

A rather interesting massive gabbro (unmapped on current government maps) was encountered with minor disseminated sulphides, (pyrite, pyrrhotite 4 some chalcopyrite). Some of these samples were collected for later analysis. North of this intrusion the banded anorthosite gneiss again occurs changing to a more reddish quartz rich variety just before the swamp to the south. A small outcrop of white plagioclase quartz muscovite gneiss may be part of the eastern extension of a large albite pegmatite dyke. At the south end of the traverse on reaching the swamp the traverse was continued westward towards highway #535. The outcrop here consisted of reddish quartz rich amphibolitic gneiss. Just before reaching the swamp to the west, a snowmobile trail was encountered as well as a claim post on the shore. Traveling westward along the northern shore of the swamp more amphibolite gneiss was observed as well the presence of a pegmatite dyke contact along the shore. An old quarry site within this pegmatite dike was also observed. This location is incorrectly shown on existing geologic maps of the area. This site still contains pegmatitic albite. I have been told that clean hand cobbled albite used for dental spar sells for SSOO.OO/ton. A minor milky white pure quartz core was also observed in this area. A stringy interlaced pegmatite strike extension continues westward from this quarry site and along highway #535.

RECOMMENDATIONS- For Traverse #1

This reconnaissance traverse has not shown any obvious viable garnet prospects worthy of production although a new garnetiferous band (the baseball zone) was located. The possibility of a larger strike extension of this zone, the Suns garnetiferous metasedimentary band and further showings is, however, very good although these may be covered by overburden and hence not

Garnet Investigation Report - May 22,1995 Bedrock Consulting pg. 3

Page 24: J, i So - Ontario

apparent. This is generally suggested since most of the garnetsbands and these tend to weather

recessive^ (especially the quartz poor varieties).

In conclusion, based on the limited mapping conducted to date and the available airborne magnetometer survey conducted over this area it would be useful to try and correlate the magnetometer contours to locate contacts between the metasediment^ and anorthosite gneisses. This exercise should also bear in mind gabbroic intrusions and the possibility of south thrusting faults locally parallel to the Grenville front and discordant to the regional strike. Garnets should be sought in areas of thrust faulting and contacts between amphibole gneiss and metasedimentary bands. Consideration for a dynamic model for garnet formation should also be considered (see conclusion).

TRAVERSE #3- Janes Township

The following is based on communications with, and a report prepared by Frank Racicot, Sudbury geologist of a traverse undertaken by Frank on June 6, 1994. This information has been edited by Bob Komarechka and Is presented below.

There are three main garnets bearing areas that were located on this reconnaissance traverse . Two of them occurred around 1+00 east on the traverse base line. Zone A was a 2 -2.5 metre wide zone with 10 - 1596 peppercorn and pea size garnets and 40 - 6096 plum and peach size garnets. Zone B consisted of a 9 -10 metre wide zone with 10 -3096 pea size garnets in a very siliceous zone. Many of the rocks hosting these garnet zones were quartz rich biotiferous metasediments. Zone C, about 9+50E on the grid, consisted of a 2 metre wide garnet biotite gneiss zone with 10-+2096 almond and apple size garnets. Because of the nature of the traverse, moss or overburden cover and limited cliff exposure, none of these showings were traced along strike to look for variations or consistency.

RECOMMENDATIONS- For Traverse #3

More prospecting with a grub hoe along zones A, B A: C might determine if there is any continuity to the strike length.

Garnet Investigation Report - May 22,1995 Bedrock Consulting pg. 4

Page 25: J, i So - Ontario

AREA 3 - DAVIS TOWNSHIP

TRAVERSE #4- Davis Township

The following is a report prepared by Frank Racicot, Sudbury geologist and edited by Bob Komarechka of a traverse undertaken by Frank on June 8,1994.

At the far western end of this traverse, north of 8+OOW there were almost continuous outcrops (60-7096 exposure) or almost 150 metres across strike. Seven garnet zones were located, although only one, Zone 5, had enough width to warrant potential

Over a width of about 2 -21/2 metres, garnets ranged for 10- 1596 pea size to walnut size garnets over a two foot band to 7096 almond size garnets over a one foot band. AU 7 garnet zones occurred in very biotiferrous gneiss which were in turn located with quartz, biotite, plagioclase gneisses and near some anorthositic amphibole gneiss. Because of the proximity of a creek on two side of Zone 5, it is doubtful the strike length would exceed 150 metres before running Into wet low hying areas.

RECOMMENDATIONS- For Traverse #4

Should testing be required, access to the exposure for Zone 5 could be by a tote road to the north.

CONCLUSION - AU. AREAS

To date the significant garnet zones found hi this study area appear within the generally ductile metasedimentary gneiss hi proximity to geological contacts of more competent rocks (such as anorthosltes and quartzites) as well as fault zones or local minor thrusts. The presence of pinching and swelling, podiform shape and widely varying garnet sizes, especially within hydrous nonstratigraphic biotite rich zones near the Grenville tectonic zone suggests a dynamic model for garnet formation2. Proving this is, however, beyond the scope of this report

2EngIneering and Mining Journal, August 1994, pl3.

Garnet Investigation Report - May 22,1995 Bedrock Consulting pg. 5

Page 26: J, i So - Ontario

So for the garnet showings have been rather numerous but of highly variable grade, garnet size and limited tonnage. The economics of mining narrow widths of variable grade from multiple sources should be carefully considered before further expenditures are made. Access and rehabilitation costs should also be included in this evaluation.

As mentioned earlier the prospects for further showings in these areas is very good although their size, grade and form would probably be similar to those already located.
