a message from thehead of school

Welcome to The College School’s Annual Auction!

This year’s auction marks the 32nd year for this long-standing tradition. Since 1983, parents have been gathering for this annual event to share a fun-filled evening of conviviality. Dining with other parents and friendly bidding ‘wars’ for a class gift builds lasting friendships and a strong spirit of community. We may enjoy the festivities, but our children see us working together for the best interest of their school.

The auction is one of two major fundraisers which supports the school’s daily operations. Tuition covers only 90% of the cost of educating each student, with the difference being made up through these fundraisers.

Funds from this year’s auction will supplement upcoming enhancements on our home campus, such as a STEM/science lab, digital media center, and playground improvements. In addition, five percent of the proceeds will be designated to support scholarships for students and their families. Over the years, you’ve not only purchased some fabulous items, but you’ve helped us raise more than $269,000 through Raise Your Paddle.

Under the leadership of Development Director Faith Markus, Auction Chair Alison Clark, and members of the Auction Committee, a grand affair has been planned for us. A special thanks goes to the auction crew for countless hours collecting donations and organizing them so beautifully in the gym and theater.

I am especially grateful to you for coming tonight and for supporting The College School with your generous bids. It is clear we are all passionate about the unique education our students receive each day. So, hold your paddles high for tonight’s charitable cause! Best, Ed

ABOUT OUR SCHOOLLEADERSHIP & OUR MISSION

Page 7: It's a Grand Affair! The College School Auction Catalog 2015

Dear Friends and Families of The College School, It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to “It’s a Grand Affair,” The College School’s 32nd Annual Auction! Thank you very much for coming out and joining us for an evening that will take us back to the Roaring 20s and promises to be filled with fun!

Each Auction has been unique and successful, filled with excitement and intrigue, and has brought The College School Community closer through camaraderie and philanthropic support of our beloved school. Over the years there have been hundreds of volunteers who have given of themselves unselfishly while sharing their time and talents to create one spectacular event after another. Specifically - the Development Office, faculty/staff, parents, committees, students, alumni, and past auction chairs, all of whom have laid the foundation for the Annual Auction. For this, you have my deepest gratitude. We are most grateful to the underwriters for their outpouring of generosity and support.

Within the pages of this catalog, there is something for everyone. Please bid high and bid often as 100% of the proceeds from the Auction directly benefit the school!

I am grateful and honored for the opportunity to be involved in this much anticipated event for The College School and to share the evening with you.

Thank you all very much for your constant support and enjoy your evening!
