9.55am The Role of Chemistry for Circularity in Textile, Leather and Fibre Production Dr Christina Raab, Global Implementation Director, ZHDC Foundation, Netherlands

Dr Raab has more than a decade of experience of working at the interface between sustainability, sustainable development and innovation. Prior to joining ZDHC, Christina held leading positions at several forefront consulting firms where she worked with a variety of companies, industries and public institutions on holistic sustainability strategies and responsible value chains.

Georgia is the Innovation Manager at Fashion for Good, the global initiative that convenes brands, producers, retailers, suppliers, non-profit organisations, innovators and funders in a pre-competitive space to support and embed breakthrough technologies into the fashion supply chain. She focuses on orchestrating brand and innovator collaborations, in areas of the supply chain related to raw materials, dyeing and finishing.

Günther is responsible for new technology and application methods to ensure the technical leadership of Dystar. Specialising in textile chemistry, he is one of the brains behind making Dystar a global leader in dyes, pigments, inks and auxiliaries for the textile industry, strongly committed to sustainability.

11.40am Preferred Chemicals: Why, Who and What is Needed to Achieve Better Alternatives for the Textile Supply Chain Dr Thomas Schaefer, Head, bluesign technologies AG, Germany

Dr Schaefer regularly revises the various criteria of the bluesign system and consults brands, textile manufacturers, chemical suppliers and institutions. He was the co-author of the Best Available Techniques in Textile Industry’ commissioned by the German Federal Environmental Agency in 2003 and contributor to the ZDHC Wastewater Guidelines in 2016.

12.05pm Direct to Garment Printing Dr Eric Smith, Technology Manager, DuPont, United States

Dr Smith is currently a DuPont Fellow in the Advanced Printing business of DuPont based in Wilmington, Delaware. Since the start of 2018, he has been working on digital printing of new inks and pre-treatments for direct to garment applications as well as for the digital décor printing used in lamination processes for structural applications such as flooring and furniture.

1.30pm Design for Sustainability – Durability, Service and User Experience Drummond Lawson, Sustainability Director, Arc’teryx, Canada

In his five years at Arc’teryx, Drummond leads its environmental and social impact programs. An environmental chemist by background, Drummond focuses on good design as a tool for positive change. He previously directed sustainability efforts at Method Products in San Francisco and worked as a materials scientist at EPEA in Hamburg.

1.55pm C8-free Hydrophobic Finishes: Alternatives, Challenges, Opportunities and Limits for Chemistry and Application Dr. Gunther Duschek, Vice President, R&D, Health, Safety, Quality and Environment, Rudolf, Germany

Dr Duschek is a chemist with more than 25 years of experience in different positions in R&D and a member of the Expert Advisory Board “Textile Materials” of RWTH in Aachen. He is one of the anchors that enables Rudolf to be one of the leading companies who is able to convey strict rules and regulations to enforce environmental protection and sustainability.

Paul is responsible for the award-winning cloud based one-way mill optimisation that revolutionised the digitalisation and calculation of resource usage in textile processing. He pioneers the delivery of Archroma systems to the industry to offer clear measurable value propositions for textile customers.

2.45pm High Quality Cotton Knits with Low Environmental Footprint Christian Wieth, Senior Global Marketing Manager, Novozymes, Denmark

Christian specialised in biotechnology and has worked for almost three decades in Novozymes in both technical and commercial positions. He is one of the forces that led Novozymes to be a world leader in enzymes for technical applications with solutions across bio-scouring, bleach clean-up, denim abrasion, finishing and de-sizing.

3.10pm Sustainable Development and Innovation on Digital Textile Printing Dr Sam Chen, Deputy Head of R&D Centre, Everlight, Taiwan

Dr Chen holds 25 years of experience on dye synthesis and inkjet application. He earned his PhD degree from UMIST Textile Department UK in 2001 and started working on purification and ink formulation for inkjet printing application. He is leading 20 researchers in developing colourants and inks for digital textile printing.

Dunja is working at EURATEX’s Brussels office, focusing on chemical policies, circular economy, industrial emissions and energy, and sustainable supply chains, in coordination with the national and European member associations.

Yariv has over 15 years of experience in product management, marketing and business development roles of multi-disciplinary, high-tech products from both start-ups and global corporations, with focus on marketing, product strategy, business development and strategic partnerships.

4.45pm Combining Input Stream Chemical Management with Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance Jonathan Wehrli, Product Manager for Eco Passport, Oeko-Tex® Association, Switzerland

Prior to joining the Oeko-Tex®, Jonathan held various positions in the chemical industry working on classification systems and compliance security projects. He is responsible in the development of standards based on new regulations and scientific insights.
