Day 1: Lilongwe!Malawi’s Capital, Lilongwe was founded in 1906 along the banks of the Lilongwe River. Lying along a plateau west of The Great Rift Valley at an altitude of 1,067 metres, Lilongwe is a great base to start a Malawian Holiday or for access into South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. The city is split into the old town and new town with a number of good restaurants, bars and activities for visitors stopping for a few days. Lilongwe has a bustling curio market, ideal for buying gifts and a number of famous landmarks including the tomb of the first Malawian President and a memorial tower in remembrance of soldiers who fought in the 1st and 2nd World Wars. !

A good option for an afternoon activity is a visit to Lilongwe Nature Sanctuary or the Tobacco Auctions which can be visited between the months of March and June. !

Kumbali Country Lodge *****!Located on the outskirts of Lilongwe Kumbali is ideal for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Beautifully designed the main lodge has a feeling of grandeur with high ceilings, antique furniture and stunning views across the private gardens. Rooms are all ensuite, spacious and beautifully furnished. Kumbali Country Lodge is 30 minute drive from Kamuzu International Airport and 10 minutes from the city centre. !

Mabuya Camp **!This lively backpackers lodge is always buzzing with travelers and a popular stop for overland buses on their way through Malawi. Offering basic accommodation, Mabuya has a lively bar and a good simple menu and is managed by a team of great staff. Located close to Lilongwe City Centre, Mabuya is a great base to explore the city from or simply relax around the camp’s swimming pool.!

Kiboko Town Hotel ***!Ideally situated in the centre of Lilongwe, Kiboko is a popular hotel with the more affluent backpacker and a great mid range city lodge. With all the amenities of the city on the doorstep and one of the city’s most famous restaurants under the hotel’s terrace Kiboko is an ideal base from which to explore Lilongwe. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable and there is a great roof top terrace and bar.!

Heuglin’s Lodge *****!Heuglin’s Lodge is a quiet city hideaway with easy access both to the city centre and Kamuzu International Airport. Beautifully decorated and designed to retain that intimate lodge feel, guests will find excellent service, hospitality and delicious food. Rooms are all en-suite and tastefully decorated. The lodge also has a lovely swimming pool for guests to relax around during the mid day heat.!

Day 2: Blantyre!Surrounded by stunning mountains, Blantyre’s cool climate first attracted Livingstone’s missionaries to set up home here and before Nairobi and Johannesburg were small villages, Blantyre was a thriving town! Today Malawi’s commercial capital is a bustling place with a busy market and central business district, yet retaining it’s charm and character and it’s layout makes it easy to navigate on foot. Not to be missed is the historic building at Mandala House, now a thriving coffee shop, ideal for a lunch stop over! !

If you want to see a different side to the city you can take a guided tour of Ndirande Township, arranged through The Responsible Safari Company. !

Guests are welcome to take a walk through the nature reserve or organise a guided village tour.!

House 5 ***!House 5, situated in one of Blantyre’s suburbs, 2 mins from the city centre is ideal for guests looking for that quieter experience. With beautifully designed rooms and excellent hospitality the lodge has a home away from home feel to it, and a far cry from the larger hotels. !

Day 3: Salima!Tucked in to the lakeshore Salima is a popular stop for weekend visitors from Lilongwe. With excellent road access, good accommodation and beautiful sandy beaches, Salima is an ideal place to appreciate the wonders of Lake Malawi. With wide sandy beaches dotted with small fishing communities visitors can stroll along the sandy shore watching the fishermen mending their nets or women washing their clothes in the calm surf. Most lodges have swimming pools and sun loungers on the beach making it perfect for catching up on a holiday tan and getting into a good book! !

A stop at the nearby historic Mua Mission is a great way to learn more about Malawian culture.!

Rooms have lake views and are tastefully designed with ensuite bathrooms.!

Safari Beach Lodge ***!Tucked into the shores of the southern lake shore Safari Beach Lodge is a small idyllically located hotel. With stunning views over Lake Malawi and a small beach to kayak and swim from it is the ideal to enjoy the lake. The lodge also has a swimming pool and sun terrace as well as a restaurant and bar.!

Day 4: Mua Mission!

Mua Mission was established by a group of white Catholic Fathers during the early 1990’s. As part of Mua Parish, Father Claude Boucher Chisale established the Kungoni Arts and Crafts Centre in 1976. The centre is renowned for its unique style of carvings, which reflect the potential ability for local people and missionaries to work together to ensure the conservation of traditional and religious beliefs through artistic practices. Through the work of an accomplished artist, Father Claude, the mission now has a group of talented local artists coming from different tribal backgrounds who have each brought with them their own cultural traditions to the centre. The award winning museum houses in depth history of the three main ethnic groups found in Malawi. The Museum chronicles, the history of the White Fathers mission work in Malawi dating back to 1902. Included in the collection are many years of field work in the gathering of cultural material and include the beautifully made masks and coloured costumes of the Chewa tribal group.!

Kungoni **!Accommodation is provided in traditionally shaped rondavel style rooms. Although basic they have ensuite bathrooms and are equipped with mosquito nets. Dotted around the mission the rooms are a great base to spend a day or two exploring the historic mission and visiting the museum and carvers workshop. Food is available at the centres restaurant which is beautifully located next to the river.!

Day 4: Zomba Plateau!The stunning Zomba Plateau offers beautiful views across Southern Malawi and is the ideal base to explore this historic area. Easy hiking routes, mountain biking paths and horse riding trails make the plateau easily accessible and a great place to explore for a few adventure filled days. Alternatively head down into the historic town of Zomba, once the thriving capital of Malawi, visit the market and walk amongst the faded colonial buildings. !

Delve deeper on a full or half day tour of the nearby United Nations Millennium Villages, organised through The Responsible Safari Company.!

Zomba Forest Lodge ***!Tucked into the side of Zomba Plateau, hidden amongst the pine trees is Zomba Forest Lodge. Brimming with charm and character the log fire roars all year round and the the sound of birdsong fill the wild garden. Days could be spent in and around the lodge or venture further up onto the plateau walking, horse riding or mountain biking. Evenings are spent back at the lodge eating delicious food, renowned as some the best in Malawi! Rooms are basic and cosy and no mosquito nets needs sue to the altitude of Zomba Plateau. Zomba Forest Lodge has no electricity.!

Sunbird Ku Chawe Inn ****!Offering magnificent views down towards Lake Malawi Ku Chawe Inn is ideally located to appreciate the wonders of Zomba Pleateau. Hiking routes can begin straight from the hotel and mountain bikes can be hired through reception. Although the hotel is big it has been cleverly designed to complement it’s surrounding environment and offers guests excellent facilities. The hotel has wireless internet and conference facilities but most guests can be found sitting in the terrace bar or gardens mesmerised by the magnificent views!!

Day 5: Mulanje Mountain!Malawi’s Island In The Sky. Mulanje Mountain’s 20 peaks offer stunning views over the tea fields and wonderful hiking opportunities. The beautiful scenery is complimented by fresh water mountain streams and cosy resting huts for nights spent on the plateau. There are options of easier trails for the less experienced climber and more challenging routes for visitors seeking the ultimate challenge of climbing to the top of Sapitwa Peak at a height of over 3000 metres. The plateau has natural rock pools for swimming, morning peak climbs and mountain huts to stay overnight. !

To complete your Mulanje experience visitors can arrange a visit to the small orphan care centre at the base of the mountain, organised through The Responsible Safari Company.!

Likhubula ***!Set in the foothills of Mount Mulanje Likhubula is the ideal base camp for hiking Mount Mulanje. With basic accommodation and facilities the lodge has a rustic feel to it with people coming and going off the mountain. It is a great place to recharge after your climb or stock up before your ascent. There is a basic menu restaurant and bar. !

CCAP Mountain Huts ***!These basic mountain huts are a perfect resting stop for a night or two or Mulanje. With open fires, friendly watchmen and cosy interiors the mountain huts are dotted around Mulanje plateau in picturesque settings. With guide and porter accommodation as well as basic dorm style rooms hikers meet here to talk through their days climb, exchange stories and cook over the open fire.!

Lujeri Lodge **!Lujeri Lodge is set within the stunning Lujeri Tea Estate at the foot of Mulanje Mountain. With wonderful views over the tea fields and with a backdrop of Mount Mulanje Lujeri Lodge provides a perfect base for hiking the mountain and walking through the working tea estate. Staffed by two people guests can make themselves at home in the lodge which is rented exclusively to one group. The lodge has an outside barbeque area, fully equipped kitchen and four spacious ensuite rooms. !

Day 6: Cape Maclear!The bustling fishing village of Chembe provides visitors with a real insight into local life along the lake shore. Visitors often decide to stop off at Cape Maclear for a night or two to sample village life, barter over hand made curios, spend a morning kayaking to Otters Point or simply sitting on the beach and watching the slow pace of local lakeshore life. !

For those wanting to spend more time at Cape Maclear there is an opportunity to get involved with local community projects, take village walks or take a trip out on one of the local boats for a sunset cruise or snorkeling trip.!

Gecko Lounge **!One of the most popular lodges in Cape Maclear Gecko Lounge is always a hive of activity. Situated right in the centre of Chembe Fishing Village and looking over the stunning expanse of Cape Maclear guests can enjoy meals in the beachfront restaurant and the occasional live band and DJ evening in the bar. Rooms are basic but comfortable with beachfront chalets, dorm rooms and ensuite standard twin rooms.!

Tuckaways Lodge ****!Tuckaways lodge is located on the beach at Cape Maclear. Simple self standing chalets are dotted along the waterfront and guests can sit on the balcony and soak in the view. The lodge does not have a bar or a restaurant but is situated right next door to Gecko Lounge which offers great food and a lively bar. Rooms are not ensuite but there is a tastefully designed shower and toilet block. Tuckaways in home to Chembe Community Village Projects.!

Mumbo Island *** ***!Mumbo Island is run as an eco-island and everything from the bathrooms to the solar panels and kitchen are environmentally friendly. Mumbo still manages to retain that feeling of luxury with tents built on stilts overlooking the lake with ensuite open air bathrooms, tea and coffee brought to your room in the morning and staff on the beach ready to help you with kayaks and snorkelling gear. The waters around Mumbo are ideal for diving and snorkelling an evening sunset cruise around the island is a wonderful way to appreciate this magnificent unspoilt island. !

Domwe Island *****!With a unique Robinson Crusoe feel Domwe is an ideal Lake Malawi getaway. The bush kitchen allows guests to cook their own Kayaks and snorkelling gear can be hired from the mainland and Domwe can be cicumnaviagted through the gap between the isalnd and the mainland. Wildlife on Domwe include civet cats, bush pigs and monitor lizards. The decking stretching out over Lake Malawi is an ideal place to sunbathe and while away the hours reading. Tented rooms are basic with their own balcony overlooking the lake and shared bush style bathrooms.!

Day 7: Southern Lakeshore!Small lodges are dotted along the shore line interspersed with small fishing villages and wooden kayaks drying in the sun. Away from the hustle and bustle of mainland Malawi the southern lakeshore has a unique feel to it, people walk a little slower, the sun shines a little brighter and the warm heart of Africa really shows it’s true colours. Days can be spent sunbathing on the beach, taking snorkeling trips and feeding the fish eagles or chatting with locals as they mend their nets. Sunset cruises provide a wonderful opportunity to witness the magnificence of the lake before returning for a home cooked meal in the beachside restaurant. !

To learn more about traditional lakeside culture spend a morning visiting a local boatyard organised through The Responsible Safari Company.!

The local staff are a huge part of Norman Carr and will serve your dinner, chat with you on the sunset cruise and throw fish for the eager fish eagles. Norman Carr is famous for it’s huge double beds and uniquely designed outside bathrooms.!

Pumulani Lodge *****!This brand new lakeside retreat is stunning. With magnificent views across the lake, beautifully designed rooms and an infinity swimming pool you would be hard pushed to find a more luxurious lakeside lodge. The lodge has a traditional wooden sailing dhow for guests to go for sunset cruises and snorkelling trips and the staff on the beach are always on hand to help guests with kayaks and other water sports activities. !

Nanchengwa Lodge ***!Nanchengwa Lodge is nestled into the lakeshore and offers basic accommodation at great value for money. The stunning beach setting and vicinity to a small fishing village provides guests with a true Lake Malawi experience. Rooms are A-Frame beach front chalets or ensuite twin or doubles. Nanchengwa is small and friendly and the owners will go our of their way to make your stay special often staying up late under the stars with guests in the beach boma bar.!

Day 8: Ntchisi Forest!The journey to Ntchisi is unforgettable! Dusty tracks wind their way through rural hillside villages and you catch a glimpse of one of Malawi’s only remaining rainforests. Tucked into the hillside sits the colonial building of Ntchisi Forest Lodge. Lovingly restored the lodge is the ideal base for exploring the surrounding area. Days can be spent walking through the hillside villages, learning how to cook Malawian cuisine, hiking and biking in the rainforest or sitting on the lodge terrace soaking in the magnificent views. Due to its altitude Ntchisi is mosquito free so evenings are usually spent on the terrace or around the open fire sharing stories with other guests. !

For visitors wishing to delve deeper into rural life the lodge can arrange a guided walk through the village stopping at various community initiatives along the way. !

Ntchisi Forest Lodge *****!Ntchisi Forest Lodge is set in idyllic surroundings. The hills of central Malawi roll down to the shores of the lake and small communities are nestled behind each tunr in the track. One of Malawi’s only remaining rainforests is adjacent to lodge and ideal for exploring by foot or mountain bike. The lodge has been renovated to provide guests with a hillside retreat mixing old colonial architecture with cosy Scottish shooting lodge. Rooms are all ensuite and tastefully decorated. The main hub of the lodge is the open air terrace offering stunning views across the hills. Meals are served on the terrace and the delicious home cooked food is renowned across Malawi.!

Day 9: Satemwa Fair Trade Tea Estate!Satemwa was founded in 1923 by Maclean Kay who moved to Malawi to establish a small area of land to grow tea. Nearly one hundred years later the estate remains within the same family and the first tea fields are still flourishing! A stay at Satemwa offers visitors a true insight into a working tea estate where tea is picked by hand and the estate tracks wind up and down through acres of wonderfully smelling tea fields. The estate lodges are tucked away and guests can expect a wonderful quiet stay. For the more adventurous walks through the tea fields up to Thyolo Mountain offer stunning views over the Lower Shire Valley and a tour of the working tea factory can also be arranged. !

Chawani Bungalow ****!Chawani Bungalow is nestled into the side of one of the tea fields and is enclosed by a wonderful flowering garden. Hired on a self catering basis the bungalow is fully equipped for a unique stay in this small cottage including a wonderul garden terrace, barbeque area, dining room and lounge. Just minutes from the working tea fields guests can walk around the estate, take a tea tasting tour or simply sit back and relax in the stunning garden. Rooms are all ensuite and spacious. There are two staff at Chawani who are there to ensure guests have everything they need and to assist with cleaning and cooking preparation.!

Huntingdon House *****!Huntingdon House is the old estate manager’s lodge and has retained it’s colonial character. Recently refurbished, this old building has wonderful original features, is stunningly decorated and is minutes from the working tea fields making it the perfect base to explore Satemwa. Delicious home cooked food is eaten in the grand dining area and drinks are served on the terrace overlooking the beautifully landscaped garden. All rooms are ensuite and have their own unique characteristics including grand bathtubs, open fires and antique furniture.!

Day 11: Majete Wildlife Reserve!Conservation Organisation African Parks took over the management of Majete Wildlife Reserve in 2002 and since then this park has dramatically increased in wildlife and is an ideal place to spend a few days safari. The reserve offers stunning landscapes of hills, ravines and waterfalls crashing down the mighty Shire River. Guests will rise early to take an early morning game drive before returning for lunch and an afternoon siesta watching the animals at the lodge waterhole. An evening game drive and sundowner is the perfect way to finish the day. Wildlife within Majete includes, elephant, zebra and black rhinoceros. !

Day 13: Nyika National Park!

Nyika National Park is Malawi’s largest and perhaps most diverse wildlife area. The park crosses over into Zambia and the wildlife is free to move throughout the whole area. Nyika Plateau lies at the centre of the park and is covered with beautiful montane grassland and fern heather, there are over 200 plant species found on the plateau. Nyika is estimated to have over 100 mammal species including Burchell’s Zebra, leopard, elephant and the stunning roan antelope. Bird watching is also excellent all year round and walking safaris are a popular activity in the park. !

Day 14: Vipyha Plateau and Luwawa Forest!Turning off the main tarmac road you wind your way along a sandy track through the magnificent pine plantations of South Viphya Forest Reserve. The forest reserve is the second largest in the whole of Africa and the region of South Viphya is always a hive of activity. The stunning landscape rolls down towards the shores of Lake Malawi and the plateau’s montane vegetation and cooler climate is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. Mountain biking, hiking, abseiling and many more outdoor pursuits can be organised from Luwawa Forest Lodge. Birdlife is some of the most diverse in Malawi and includes ospreys, eagles and the lesser double collared sunbird all taking advantage of the pine forests and expanse of Luwawa Dam. The diversity of the landscape reaching high to mountainous crags and inselbergs before tumbling down to the lakeshore makes this region a stunning place to spend a few days .!

Day 15: Nkhotakota!With a long and complicated history with the slave trade Nkhotakota is a fascinating place to visit. It used to be the largest slave trade market during the 19th century and almost 20,000 slaves were shipped there each year until the end of the trading in World War Two. Dr David Livingstone fought hard to end the slave trade and the tree where he held meeting with the local chief is now a landmark in the region for tourists to visit. Nkhotakota is also home to oldest wildlife reserve in Malawi which has recently been revamped with two new lodges and tourism has begun to generate some income to help with anti poaching and regeneration of the flora and fauna. Still a dense wilderness area guests can stay within the reserve or take a day visit from nearby Nkhotakota. Best explored on foot the reserve is a bird watchers paradise with over 130 different species. With the lakeshore and the reserve in close proximity Nkhotakota is ideal for a beach and bush combination. !

Day 17: Northern Lakeshore!Rugged and wild the Northern Lakeshore is home to some of Lake Malawi’s most stunning and isolated bays and inlets. Stunning views of Lake Malawi, beautiful sandy beaches and a handful of really unique lakeshore lodges. Less touristy the Northern Lakeshore is home to the the Tumbuka and Tonga people, rich in culture and tradition they speak their own dialect and are some of the friendliest people in Malawi. The rugged landscape of the northern lakeshore allows for stunning views over Lake Malawi with a wonderful backdrop of mountains forming the edge of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.!

Day 18: Dedza!Dedza is ideally located an hours drive from Lilongwe and a great stop off point when heading to Lake Malawi. The stunning scenery and backdrop of Dedza Mountain mixed with the cool high altitude climate means there is plenty of hiking trails and the area is ideal for mountain biking. A day visit to Chingoni Forest Reserve to see the stone age rock art paintings and picnic on the Chencherere Hills provides stunning views across the region. !Traditional pottery courses are offered at Dedza Pottery Lodge and the shop and workshop are ideal for buying gifts. Dedza Pottery Lodge ***!Dedza Pottery Lodge is a great base to explore the surrounding area. For the more energetic there are guided walk options into the hills to visit the Chingoni Rock Art. There is an excellent café/restaurant- we recommend the cream teas! Njati Lodge ***!In a remote corner of Mwabvi a small bush lodge has been built. Sheltered by a deep ravine with a fast flowing river and natural rock pool lagoon Njati is the ideal base to spend a few days exploring Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve. Currently only on a self catering basis the kitchen is fully stocked and there is a lounge/dining area for groups for sit and eat. Rooms are made of brick and are spacious with ensuite bathrooms.!

Day 19: Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve!Mwabvi has recently been given a new lease of life when the Kerr family took over the concession and started rehabilitating the park and building a brand new lodge. With passion and determination the park is now beginning to show signs of a transformation, wildlife is being restocked, fences maintained and tourism increasing. The park still retains a wilderness feel and dusty narrow tracks wind there way round hidden corners as jumpy bushbuck scuttle away. Large herds of buffalo make their way across the vast expanse of Mwabvi and can be seen in huge numbers from one of the many natural rock look out points. Day 20: Zambia, South Luangwa National Park!South Luangwa National Park is one of Africa’s most prolific National Parks. With a high concentration of animals and birdlife attracted by the might Luangwa River the park is excellent for game viewing all year round. Days start early on safari and after a brisk cup of coffee and light breakfast guests head out as the sun is rising on a morning game drive. Large herds of elephant can be seen making their way to the river for a morning bath and antelope scuttle this way and that pleased to have made it through the night. Returning to the lodge for brunch and siesta time the activities begin again at 4pm when guests return to the parks tracks and trails for an evening game drive, stopping for a sundowner on the banks of the river. Frequent sightings of leopard and lion preparing for their night’s hunting works up an appetite and you return to the lodge for dinner and a night spent under canvas.!

Your lodge can organise a visit to a local village, a great afternoon excursion is to the textile factory where you can see how they make the painted fabric and there is a shop for buying gifts. !

Mfuwe Lodge *****!Mfuwe Lodge is one of the only lodges located inside the National Park. Ideally situated on the banks of a lagoon wildlife is excellent all year round and the lodge is famous for it’s migrating elephants passing through the reception during the dry season. The swimming pool looks over a tributary of the Luangwa River and wildlife flock here throughout the day. Mfuwe guides are renowned to give guests wonderful safari experiences with expert knowledge and always trying to find more remote areas of the park to explore. Kaya Mawa *** **!Kaya Mawa means ‘Maybe tomorrow’ in Chichewa and is one of Malawi’s premier lakeside lodges. The island of Likoma is steeped in history and was the mission station for the headquarters of the Anglican Church in Malawi. The lodge is set on an idyllic beach that is surrounded by rocky outcrops and baobab trees. All bookings must be confirmed in writing, whereby this confirmation is taken as an acceptance of the terms and conditions as laid out below. A booking will be considered firm when the deposit or full payment has been received by and accepted by The Responsible Safari Company Ltd. and a confirmation invoice issued, showing the balance due. The person who signs the booking form does so on behalf of all persons named on the booking form and all are subject to these conditions. If for any reason we are not able to accept your booking your deposit will be returned in full.!

Payment is accepted by International Bank Transfer in US$. For bookings made within 28 days of departure full payment will be accepted. The final balance is due 12 weeks prior to departure or as shown on your invoice. If not paid by the said date your booking may be subject to cancellation by us and liable to full cancellation charges as shown on your invoice. Special requests should be indicated on the booking form at the time of booking or made in writing. We will try to meet all special requests, but cannot guarantee their availability, nor will we be liable if any special request is not fulfilled.!

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS PRICE!Prices quoted in our literature are based on tariffs, costs and taxes current at the time we went to print, often many months before the travel season. Whilst The Responsible Safari Company Ltd makes strenuous efforts to adhere to the prices quoted in our literature or advertising, we reserve the right to notify you of any increase in the literature or!advertised price before accepting your booking. After a confirmation invoice has been issued, the price of your travel arrangements is subject to surcharges on or in relation to the following items; increase in transportation costs (including fuel and airfares) Governmental action, exchange rate variations, overlying charges and fees chargeable for services (including land taxes and embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airports). Only amounts in excess of 2% will be surcharged. However where a surcharge is payable, there will be an administration charge. Surcharges will be notified by a supplementary invoice sent to you. If a surcharge increases the total Travel Arrangements price shown on your original confirmation invoice by more than 12%, you may cancel your booking within 7 days of the date of issue of the supplementary invoice and obtain a full refund of all payments made to The Responsible Safari Company, except for Travel Insurance and any amendment charges previously incurred. You may choose to pay for your Travel Arrangements in full at the time of booking, in which case the price will be fixed at the cost quoted by The Responsible Safari Company Ltd. at that time. To take advantage of this benefit you should return the confirmation invoice to The Responsible Safari Company Ltd with full payment to reach us within 7 days of the date shown on the confirmation. Should the value of the £ strengthen, we will not be able to reduce Travel Arrangements prices as all Travel Arrangements will have been pre-booked by us at the prevailing rate at that time.!

LIABILITY!Please be aware that these terms include limitations on the liability of The Responsible Safari Company and its obligations relating to any Travel Arrangements and certain exclusions of The Responsible Safari Company’s responsibility The Responsible Safari Company Ltd operates all reasonable checks to ensure that everybody involved in making your Travel Arrangements maintain the appropriate standards. However, for any matters causing loss or damage to any Client’s being or belongings where the liability falls on a third party The Responsible Safari Company Ltd. accepts no liability. !

The Responsible Safari Company Ltd. shall offer when possible (and without prejudice) prompt general assistance to any client who through mishap suffers difficulty, illness, personal injury or death during their Travel Arrangements with us, and arising out of an activity which does not form part of the Travel Arrangements that The Responsible Safari Company Ltd. has confirmed. Luggage, valuables and all other personal effects are at all times and in all circumstances at your risk unless and to the extent that loss or damage is proved to have been caused by The Responsible Safari Company Ltd’s negligence. Nothing in these conditions excludes or limits The Responsible Safari Company Ltd’s liability for its duty to exercise diligence in making arrangements for your Travel or its liability save as set out above. If The Responsible Safari Company Ltd makes any payment of compensation or financial assistance to you or any other individual named on the booking form in respect of any loss, damage, injury, illness or death caused by any other person then The Responsible Safari Company Ltd will be entitled to be subrogated to the rights of such person. This means that The Responsible Safari Company Ltd will be entitled to claim in place of you or that individual person against the person responsible (up to the amount paid by us) and that you and each individual agrees to assign the relevant part of their rights to us to enable us to do so. !

Representatives and Agents are not entitled without The Responsible Safari Company Ltd’s express authority to alter itineraries, cancel arrangements or tickets, make or promise refunds on our behalf or obtain loans or services or incur telecommunications expenses on your behalf.!

The Responsible Safari Company Ltd is a Travel organiser – The Responsible Safari Company Ltd does not control or operate any airline, shipping company, transport, lodge, hotel, activity centre or any other facility or service mentioned in our literature and The Responsible Safari Company therefore contracts on your behalf with the supplier of such facilities and services. When you use such facilities or services (e.g. when you are carried by a particular airline) the standard terms and conditions of such supplier will apply to you. Such conditions, some of which will limit or exclude liability in certain circumstances, and which may be subject to international conventions between countries.!

CANCELLATION OR ALTERATION BY YOU!If you wish to cancel or amend your booking The Responsible Safari Company Ltd. will make every effort to assist you. Requests for amendment or cancellation must be in writing, and confirmed by the same individual as on the original confirmation. Amendments received and made 60 days before departure will incur an amendment charge of £40 per booking, plus any communication charge or other expenses incurred by The Responsible Safari Company Ltd. If you cancel your booking, the following general scale of cancellation charges will be payable based on the number of days prior to departure that written notice of cancellation is received at our office.!

(In certain circumstances cancellation charges may differ. If this is the case the charges will be clearly shown on your confirmation invoice and these will take precedence over the charges shown here). "The Responsible Safari Company are unable to make any allowances for accommodation, meals or other services not utilised by you during your Travel Arrangements. Furthermore, no refund can be made for travel tickets lost, destroyed or mislaid. If you are unable to take your Travel Arrangements because of illness, redundancy, unavoidable commitments at work, jury service, death or illness of a close member of the family, it may be possible to transfer your Travel Arrangements to a person acceptable to The Responsible Safari Company Ltd. You must request the transfer in writing at least 30 days in advance and prior to ticket issue. Your request for a transfer must be accompanied by documentary proof of the reason for the transfer, complete details of the person replacing you and written confirmation that your replacement agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions listed. The administration fee will be £80 per person plus any charges levied by the suppliers. It is important to note that airlines sometimes charge a 100% cancellation fee in addition to the cost of a new ticket.!

CANCELLATION OR ALTERATION BY THE RESPONSIBLE SAFARI COMPANY LTD!The Responsible Safari Company Ltd has made every effort to ensure that the information, description and prices quoted in its literature are accurate at the time of printing. The Responsible Safari Company Ltd reserves the right to advise you of any change, including any price changes, before accepting your booking. After a confirmation invoice has been issued, The Responsible Safari Company Ltd. makes every effort to operate the Travel Arrangements as printed in the literature. On some rare occasions The Responsible Safari Company Ltd may have to modify a Travel Arrangement prior to your departure. If the modification is significant i.e. change of flight time by more than 15 hours, a change of international airport (except between airports serving the same city e.g. Heathrow and Gatwick) a change of destination or a change to lower standard of accommodation, The Responsible Safari Company Ltd will advise you as soon as practicably possible. You may or may not accept the modification. However, if you cancel and receive a full refund following a significant modification made for any reason other than Force Majeure, you will receive the following compensation, depending on the length of time before the date of departure that you are informed of the change.!

Force Majeure means unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond The Responsible Safari Company Ltd’s control, the consequences of which neither The Responsible Safari Company Ltd nor its suppliers could avoid, including but not limited to war, threat of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity (actual or threatened), industrial dispute, hostilities, political unrest, Government action or airport regulations, natural or other disaster, nuclear incident, weather conditions, technical problems with transportation, closure of airports, fire, flood, drought, temporary technical breakdown in an hotel or apartment. If there is a minor modification before your departure (any change not included in the definition of a significant modification as set out above) The Responsible Safari Company Ltd will notify you, although it is not obliged to do so, nor is it obliged to pay any compensation. If you fail to pay the balance of the Travel Arrangements price at least 12 weeks (84 days) before departure or as shown on your invoice, we hold the right to treat your booking as cancelled and levy the cancellation charges set out in Clause 2 above. If The Responsible Safari Company Ltd has to cancel your Travel Arrangements in any other circumstances before your departure The Responsible Safari Company Ltd will do its best to offer you Travel Arrangements of a comparable standard or will give you a full refund. !

Travel Insurance!Under current EC regulations we are obliged to ensure that you are adequately covered with travel insurance at the time of travel. Please seek adequate cover or consult The Responsible Safari Company for advice. However, when taking out cover we strongly recommend that you read all the small print since some conditions and activities may be excluded. !

Safari Wildlife Habitat Indemnities!As part of your travel arrangements you may have elected to visit such areas as, National Parks, Private Game Reserves or Wildlife Habitats. In these areas there may be wild animals or potentially dangerous situations. You should be aware that in the majority of these areas you may well be asked to sign an indemnity indemnifying the principals and their agents against such occurrences as injury or death in the event of any accidents. Whilst every reasonable care will be taken by the safari lodge or activity owners to avoid any mishaps, accidents can happen. In most instances if these indemnity forms are not signed on arrival the safari lodge or activity operator may not allow you to take part in such activities or game drives, bush walks, riding or rafting etc. If you would be unhappy to sign such an indemnity then please carefully consider your choice of holiday. Your confirmation of your booking to The Responsible Safari Company Ltd. accepts your responsibility on behalf of yourself and all others to comply with these conditions.!

Airport Delays !The Responsible Safari Company Ltd uses the scheduled times of the World’s major international airlines. These are rarely subject to lengthy delays. In the unlikely event that this does happen, responsibility for arrangement for meals, overnight accommodation etc., will rest with the airline.!

Groups!On Group bookings we reserve the right to exclude from group activities, or in serious cases, send home anyone who places any member of the group in danger because of his/her actions or who causes problems or severe discord amongst the group. Where rooming companions are requested (same gender) The Responsible Safari Ltd group tours, although we will do our best to find a suitable companion with a similar background and interests, it will be at your request and we therefore cannot be held responsible for any clashes of personality etc. !

Travel Documents!Whilst offering all possible advice and assistance all passport, visa and health certificate requirements are your responsibility and The Responsible Safari Company Ltd accept no responsibility for any delay or expense incurred through any irregularity in your documents. You are advised to consult The Responsible Safari Company Ltd for exact details if uncertain.!

If you have a problem!If you are unhappy with any of the arrangements made by The Responsible Safari Company Ltd on your behalf while you are on your travels, you should inform The Responsible Safari Company Ltd, the Hotel or our representative or other supplier whose services are involved, so that they will have an opportunity to correct the matter during your stay. If you fail to do so, any rights you may have will be reduced. If any problem cannot be resolved locally and you wish to complain, full details must be sent to The Responsible Safari Company Ltd in writing within 21 days of your return from your Travels. Disputes arising out of, or in connection, with this contract which cannot be settled amicably, may be referred to arbitration. !
