The gaming network industry has majorly progressed over the years.

This paper will explore five different gaming networks.

Three of them use console and two of them do not require a gaming console.

it will be discussed how these gaming options use different types of networks.

Xbox is a modern video game console system produced by Microsoft.

Xbox supports true Ethernet networking to home LANS and the Internet can expand multiplayer gaming choices.

The Xbox live gaming network makes applications readily available for its users.

Network in Xbox:Xbox consoles are the first video game system to feature a built in Ethernet port. Two Xbox’s can be networked directly using a system link cableXbox’s can be connected to the hub, switch or router of a home network using regular Ethernet cables.

The Wii is a current generation gaming system by Nintendo.

The Wii uses its “Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection” service, which uses IEEE 802.11 to wirelessly connect to the internet.

it does not have an Ethernet port.

The service connects games using a “Friend Code” system, where users are given a 16 digit code that represents their consoles identity.

The PlayStation Network:-is an online gaming service that provides the user with various media and entertainment .

-can accommodate multiplayer gaming connections.-can allow user to collect various achievements over time. -encompasses the use of many different PlayStation products and allows them to play over different platforms simultaneously.

The PlayStation network can be accessed by the home based console and the portable unit, the PlayStation Portable (PSP). The PS3 connects to the network via an Ethernet port or an 802.11 wireless adapter. The PlayStation Portable only uses Wi-Fi.

Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games, or MMORPGs for short, are games like World of WarCraft and Knight of the Old Republic.

MMORPGs :-are games where a player can log in and play with a large amount of people all at once. -are ran off of multiple servers for different regions of the world.-The number of people that can play on one server depends on how large the server is.-work according to the Client server model.

Steam :Is a digital distribution platform created for Windows and Mac OSallows users to buy, download, and play games as well as communicate with friends and play games with their friends.was created by the Valve Corporation as a platform for developers to use to safely distribute their games with some protection against piracy.

Steam in terms of network :has a large number of severs around the world to make sure that users have a reliable way to play their games.The peak bandwidth used on March 25, 2013 was 826,915 Mbit with 5,075,636 concurrent users, which is split between game downloads, game play, chat, store viewing, etc.
